March 24, 201214 yr Pete, Am I eligible for another 10 euro discount? Yes, you will get the 1.0 (which will cost 39.99) as a free update which will save you the 10 euros. If so, would this apply to my purchase of the 737-100 since I no longer have this one?Unfortunately no, this 'early bird' discount will apply to the 1.0 only.If you need the -100 you'll need to buy the -100. Same as the -200C and the -ADV expansions. http://www.captainsim.com
March 25, 201214 yr I just bought the base pack, looking forward to the adv and freighter versions. Will there also be a gravelkit and quickchange cargo version?
March 25, 201214 yr Just to go back to the pricing discussion, so if I buy the 737-200 base pack beta now for $30 I do not have to pay anything extra for the v1.0 when it is released. But If I decided to wait until base pack v1.0 is released I'll have to pay $40. Is this correct?

March 25, 201214 yr I just bought this this evening, and thought I'd give my first impressions from 1 hour of checking the CS 737-200 out :-(+) Initial Positive Points+ Yes, the VC is as nice as it looks in the pics; really very nicely textured.+ Proportions all look good.+ Exterior model is faultless, to my eyes. (but exterior models aren't really my thing. I fly in the VC).+ The CWS action of the autopilot (pitch) works BEAUTIFULLY to set pitch while climbing/descending, while the AP managed lateral guidance. This is often hard to replicate in FSX but this works exactly like the real function in the plane; engage AP, set lateral (Hdg in my case), gently push or pull the yoke to set pitch (CWS), until you reach altitude then set ALT HOLD. Superb!+ I don't know if this version (0.6) is still using the default 738 airfile, but I have to say it flies really nice! ...... quite convincing.+ The "Trim Wheel" sound stands out to me as the best depiction of a real, moving 737 trim wheel, in FSX. B) (-) Initial Negative Points- What is going on with the APU sound??? ... are you trying to deafen me??? ... the APU startup sound is 10 times louder than the engine sounds (despite the APU being right at the back of the A/C!), the APU start sound cycles constantly, as though the APU is constantly starting, even though it's EGT instrument shows its already started and stable. It's a real mess, that really spoils your first few mins experience in the 732. :(- This is the biggest moan for me: yet again, CS have failed to bind their 'heading knob' function to the FSX key assignments. Yet again, the Course knob will turn with the default key assignments (just to tease us!) but the most important one - the heading increase/decrease - does not. Trying to fly this plane, dialling in heading settings using the mouse is just miserable. I was praying that CS would have finally nailed this one that has bugged their last 4 releases, but nope. So when you want to change heading (for AP or FD use), you have to (i) peer past the yoke, which partly blocks the HSI, and (ii), fiddle around with a tiny clickspot to turn the heading knob. It's worse: even the mouse function doesn't work properly; the heading knob will occassionally start turning and not stop, until you click in the opposite direction. :( ..............considering how beautifully the AP actually flies in this aircraft, it is such a shame that operation of it, is so unintuitive and fiddly.Captain Sim - Please bind the autopilot functions (Heading +/-, Hdg Sel, AP Master etc) to the default key assignments. This is doable, even if your AP is using custom code. Please set those bindings, it will make your aircraft so much more fun to fly. :( I even downloaded a free custom AP gauge (Meggitt 2100) from AVSIM File Library today that uses completely custom AP functions, but still has these binded to the key assignments in FSX. It is possible; please make the decision to improve this area of your product. These days, CS are the only developer I know of, whose heading bug control MUST be exclusively operated using the mouse......- Sound: In general the sounds are a mixed bag; some nice overhead click switch sounds, but the engine sounds are poor to my ears and far too quiet for these engines!Summary: To me, this aircraft holds a lot of promise and is certainly not an 'instant uninstall' in the way that the Just Flight 737-200 was. It could be great, but at v0.6 it has what feels like "the usual CS bugs" ... it certainly does not feel like a RTM product, so I think CS are right to still market it as a beta of sorts. For me, CS really need to sort out the AP commands being binded to key assignments in FSX, as this plane is (just like in real life) a handfull to operate, and being able to press keyboard buttons like '[' and ']' to control the heading bug would make things so easier (especially for TrackIR users). I doubt I would ever fly this plane again until that issue is resolved. But I really want to fly this plane, so I'm praying CS will fix it!!!!! March 25, 201214 yr Most irritating to me (besides the APU sound which I know will be fixed) is Captain Sim's constant misunderstanding of the Pneumatic's system logic. I shouldn't need the engine bleed on to start the respective engine. It's a one way valve when in the "off" position. So when the APU pneumatics are connected, engine bleeds should be off to avoid a dual bleed scenario during start and operation.Kudos for the much improved trim and trim sound! Very nice job, Captain Sim! I love it!Deck angle for approach and landing is all wrong for my landing weights. Captain Sim aircraft have always had a tendency to have too high a pitch angle during this phase of flight. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 25, 201214 yr ...yes, I agree, that trim sound stood out to me :( ... it's the best trim wheel sound I've yet to hear in FSX. Added to my (+) list in my mini-review above. :( David. >> i7 2600k, 3.4Ghz, (3.8Ghz TurboBoost), 8GB DDR3 RAM, ATI HD 5770 1GB, Win 7 Home Premium 64bit. >> FSX, REX, GEX, UTX, Orbx FTX AU, NZ, US, FlyTampa, UK2000 Xtreme, PMDG, RealAir, MilViz, (some) Carenado, Flight 1, Simcheck "%20alt=
March 25, 201214 yr I posted about that in the pilot tester forum. Hopefully they'll do something about the heading knob as well as the CRS knob. It's turning TOO slow and the mouse wheel doesn't work both ways. The rest of the A/C is simply superb. FDE should be taken care of in release 1.0. FDE should be taken care of in release 1.0.Well as in my review above, I'm personally not bothered about the speed the Heading Knob is turning with the mouse, or whether it turns with the mouse wheel; either of those scenarios involve having to mess around hovering your mouse cursor over a tiny area! ...... what we need is for the Heading Knob to turn with the key assignments in FSX / FSUIPC. I am not by any stretch of the imagination the only flyer who uses key assignments for the AP control; I could live with any of the other AP controls not working with key assignments; but not the Heading Bug! ... it's essential!.If you fly online and you're in busy airspace and get ATC vectors ("BAW101 turn left heading 90") you need to be able to act quickly. We don't have a real heading bug, so the next best thing is to hit a keyboard button to set it.... not have to point our POV view down 30 degrees, grab our mouse, hover it over the knob, and start clicking! :sad:As for FDE, I personally think it flies great now, and I'm nervous as to whether it will fly as good when CS plug in their own FDE, as they're not always the strongest in that area. March 25, 201214 yr It all depends on how you fly, either way i feel the same way, if they add the custom FDE, hope it works at least as good. As for flying online, i only fly online and know it's required to act quickly sometimes and the A/C just isn't fast enough as is. March 25, 201214 yr Mouse wheel control for the MCP and other switches/dials/knobs is a standard these days. Why hasn't CS caught on? ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 25, 201214 yr If I'd known or thought about the lack of mouse wheel control, I probably wouldn't have bought it. Aside from that, it's another great addon. March 25, 201214 yr I'm 100% confident they'll fix the mouse wheel support (the fact that it works partially, on some controls and in some directions suggests they'll complete it)... I hope!.......... I wish I was as confident that they'd bind the Heading Knob to the FSX key assignments, as they've done with the Course Knob!
