April 12, 201214 yr Ok, thanks, Stick ! It's just that it's been a long time i am into flying FS airliners again and i remember that with some of the earlier 737 and/or 727 FS models the Pitch CMD knob on the FD panel was actually used to control AP pitch attitude. So it's matter of having been setup with a completely wrong habit.... ( i stumbled over an old post in the Tinmouse forum that adresses exactly the same point.. ) All clear now. I'd say a fantastic achievement by CS to have implemented this CWS system. That would be a first in FS, wouldn't it ? Thanks much again ! cheers, jan Jan
April 12, 201214 yr If you been watching CS over the years, you'd realize they are more historical with their releases of any model. They tend to model the first variants of each model they develop. For example the 757/767 doesn't have the speed tape PFD which came later. They come equipped with the old Egg Timer on the overhead that the original aircraft had. So it's not that unexpected at least to me, that more modern systems that came after introduction of the original model weren't included. Does the first variants of 757 including GPS receivers? Personally I'd say the first variants means less work, less chance of hard core disfigurement. I know my comment is controversy but this is my conclusions after being a CS customer for so many years. I think we share that Concorde love too it seems. ^_^ You're welcome. Yeap, that's my favorite bird, I have flown it since the 2004 SSTSIM version released, after a few years of study I dedicate most of my hours on Concorde now. Others are just too low and too slow. ^_^ Now she takes away most of my flight hours. Regards Yufeng Faster than the sun, higher than the heaven. Concorde, thanks for your supersonic years...
April 14, 201214 yr HU guys, version .9 is out, bringing VC wing views and a full virtual cabin to the 737
April 14, 201214 yr Any good? Not been downloading updates myself, waiting for a really good one to make it worthwhile. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 14, 201214 yr Sorry Chock, I'm pulling out for the 1.0 release, myself. I need to read up on operating and navigating the 737-200 before I plung into 1960's era SOP's. Since your one of the more knowledgeable members, do you have any idea where I could find some manuals?
April 14, 201214 yr Well, if CS run true to form, they will probably have a repro'd set of the real manuals in PDF format available for download to buyers of the finished article, as they did with the 707, although they are not always the full thing (I ended up buying a real 707 and a real 727 manual to do the Avsim reviews of those). You could also use Chris Brady's website or book, both of which are great. Essco always have 737-200 manuals for sale (that's where I got the 707 manual from), as indeed does ebay usually (that's where I got the 727 one). Expect to pay anywhere from 10 bucks up to 500 depending on what and how many, ten bucks is likely to be a good photocopied copy or PDF, 500 would be a complete stack of the real things. Smart Cockpit has some free stuff online. A useful book for the engine operation and indeed plenty of other stuff, is Boeing 727 Flight Master by John A Moktadier, which although for a 727, is relevant to JT8D, since the engine is basically the same for both aircraft. It is very technical, since it is aimed at telling you how to pass a 727 checkride, but if you like the real gen, then it is worth having. You can get that in hardback, or as an Ebook. I actually have both the hardback and the ebook, it is excellent and useful for learning about how to actually fly an old banger such as the steam cockpit Boeings, lots of good tips in it from a guy who flew the real things a lot. You will certainly learn stuff if you read that one. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
April 14, 201214 yr This new version, 0.9 is amazing. Not only did they add more of the EyeCandy™ they usually to put in their A/C but the plane flies like a dream. I don't have manuals for the engine computer yet (what's it called?) and that's the only thing i need to cover, but the rest is just perfect now. Congrats. And no, i don't have anything to do with them, i'm just a simple user who *really* loves this 732... Nice one :) @Bud: I am using AES and it works nice. GSX should too? April 14, 201214 yr Nice pics. That's what happens when you trip up over the seat and press all the switches in the cockpit at the same time by accident. That's right ! B) Remarkable, isn't it... CS always goes to the trouble to display their excellent external models in maintenance stage. Yet they leave the pilot figures just sitting there looking like they don't know what the heck is going on. Strapped into their seatbelts and all... " Before Start-up Checklist, please.. ". The stew looks pretty vacant too, standing there to attention... " Welcome aboard, ladies and gentlemen. Did you bring your pliers and screwdriver ?... " cheers, jan Jan
April 14, 201214 yr Is there an accurate FDE for the -adv model or only the base 200? Good luck discerning the differences in the Flight Sim' environment! I'm still waiting for some Piedmont Airlines repaints. :unknw: ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
April 14, 201214 yr Is there an accurate FDE for the -adv model or only the base 200? I should think probably not based on what has gone before, although I may be wrong of course: On their 727, they kind of 'went for the middle ground' with the various 727s included in it, so actually, none of them were completely faithful to the model type the were portraying where the nuances of different power and such were concerned, some being overpowered a little and some being underpowered a little. This was understandable in terms of keeping the package simple from a production standpoint, since at the end of the day it was not supposed to be for doing checkrides on the real thing, but rather an attempt at having a 'good stab' at the 727 in general, which indeed it is. You could check whether that was true for the 737 easily enough though if you have both their 200 and 200ADV, the ADV should manage lower approach and departure speeds and it will also have a greater MTOW, but the speed difference is only a few knots, since it was mostly owing to rephasing the flap sequence on the ADV. What I'd hope to see more than anything else where their 737 is concerned, regardless of which model it is portraying, is an improvement in the simulation of engine pressure ratios. It would be nice if they could tackle that, since any development on that score would be useful for a number of older aircraft, and it is apparent that simulating older jetliners is where CS are happiest. As we've seen from A2A, there is a lot that can be done to make engines more realistic in FSX. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
