March 17, 201214 yr I dread to post this but here goesI keep reading in these forums how great EZDOK is and that users would not fly without it. Then I go and read about the program and watch the videos but I am not convinced by it. It seems to me that it is a GUI for the FSX camera system with the addition of being able to move the position of the cameras similar to the FSX Spot view camera. I do note that it has camera effects to enhance the user experiance but as I mainly fly jet airliners I don't think this would be of any benefit to me or am I also wrong about this. I also note that some users have problems which don't appear to get resolved.I am not saying that it is not a good progarm as it clearly has many supporters but could someone please tell me what I am missing out on. If I switch to this system for my cameras as I understand it would mean quite some work to delete my existing cameras and set up the EZDOK ones. So can you please convince me its worth it.RegardsPhil Asus Maximus Hero XI , i7-8086, 16 Gb RAM, nVidia GTX 1080 ti
March 17, 201214 yr I use it with airliners, fighters, and small prop planes. It adds much more immersion with it's vibration effects. TrackIR + EZDok is a great combination and I would not go without them. It'a much more than a GUI for the FSX cameras. It's especially handy for people without TrackIR because it allows "snap to" camera positions for the VC to be created and hotkey assigned. Takes some time to get familiar with the interface though, and you definitely need to read the manual. Shane Gavin
March 17, 201214 yr Not even going to try, Phil! I fly the Maddog once or twice a week, and I turn off EZCA, because there's simply too much inertia in an airliner to move your head and the aircraft about in the way that EZCA can do. TrackIR is perfect for this.VFR flight in a GA aircraft - well - that's a whole different kettle of fish! I could/will not fly without it (and TrackIR). Small aircraft bump and bounce, they swing and sway, drop and so on, in a manner that EZCA simulates perfectly. If you don't fly GA - you might be better spending your money of a fine, big airport like those from FS DreamTeam, or Fly Tampa. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
March 17, 201214 yr Ezdok is a nice program but it does have some flaws:It doesn't save the global effect value on my system and another thing I don't like is that it is to complex to edit the random effects, and finally there are no profiles available.David DD David
March 17, 201214 yr My biggest complaint is that it's too complicated for it's own good.Simpler configuration of the vibration effects with just a few sliders would help a lot. Right now I just leave everything stock.
March 17, 201214 yr I am glad you made this post Phil, no reason to dread it at all! I had come close previously to making a similar type of post.I am much in the same boat - I had seen some glowing recommendations on it, especially used in conjuction with Track IR, then when I went to the website and really read up on it, all that is involved " tweaking " it, and also tweaking for use with TIR, I held off on it.Just not sure it would be a program for me - I may very well just leave it all up to my Track IR as far as the camera aspect, and as far as cockpit feedback I have AccuFeel which does pretty good - I am sure EZDOK probably takes that to a new level especially for GA aircraft - but for me at this time, I have decided it probably is not a program for me. Perhaps some feedback in this thread my sway my opinion, but with the complexity I already have with FSX and my addons, I really do not want to add any more currently... Don B
March 17, 201214 yr I've never used the default camera system. Are you able to set and save views as easily as with ezdok or do you have to edit the .cfg? Also, with ezdok you can assign buttons to views. Is the default camera limited to cycling views or are buttons also assignable? Also, the "flaws" listed above are not flaws. The global view cannot be saved, that is not a flaw, it is a limitation. And the complexity of the advanced options are not a flaw, they are there so that if you so desire you can fine tune values. All the parameters are there at your fingertips via "dials", and while it looks overwhelming, I don't see how it could be presented any simpler.I'm one of those who has said I wouldn't sim without ezdok. Manily because I cannot use TIR because my neck movement is very limited so this app is a fantastic alternative in my case. Bud Estrada

March 17, 201214 yr I dont use the vibration effects or dynamic head movement or anything like that, at least when im flying IFR, but I do use the camera presets quite a lot. I wouldnt fly VC without EZDok, the hotkeys to my presets makes it a must-have addon in my opinion. Its easy to set up new cameras, whenever I get a new plane I usually set up the various views I need, like Captains view, Pedestal, Overhead etc and I assign them to hotkeys. Whenever I need a certain view I just click the hotkey and boom, I get that particular view in less than a second. Very much like flying a 2D panel. Johan Pettersen
March 17, 201214 yr Simpler configuration of the vibration effects with just a few sliders would help a lot. Right now I just leave everything stock.This. It took me a while to get it right. The next 2.0 release is aimed at simplifying the GUI and making things easier.I can't fly without my subtle EZDok camera effects anymore, and one button switching to my different cameras is great. I can also easily adjust my TrackIR POV with a single button press. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 17, 201214 yr Only thing I found useful about EZDOK was better helicopter virtual cockpit views! Using POV All other views are glitchy and barely usuable! March 17, 201214 yr Only thing I found useful about EZDOK was better helicopter virtual cockpit views! Using POVAll other views are glitchy and barely usuable!Sounds like user error. Nothing glitchy here.Disable the view assignments in FSX per the documentation and assign them in EZDok. Also, run the configurator every time you install a new add-on. Just read the manual. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 17, 201214 yr The FS world is divided into two parts. Those that love and understand EZDOK and those that don't! I belong to the latter group. I've tried, Lord knows I've tried, but it has sent me off snivelling far too many times. Enough already! The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
March 18, 201214 yr Ezdok is a great addon for creating camera views and assigning key for them. But I never use any camera vibration effect. For landing effect, you can use accu-feel, it is much realistic. Salim Coban
March 18, 201214 yr I was on the same boat, reading lots of skeptics who could not make it work. I watched the tutorials and could not do it. Downloaded the profiles for the NGX and the MD11 and tweaking them via trial and error i made it work with my Maddog. Now i simply cant fl without it!!! I love how it reads the weather, gives me slight bumps and shakes of turbulence when flying over hills or mountains, the bumpiness of runways and taxiways, the touchdown effect, and the ability to preset my camera views in virtual cockpit so no matter where i am panning, when i need to view my overhead, fire switches or go to landing view, i am there with the flick of a switch.A friend uses it with matrox triple head to go and gotta says it truly is the visual sense of motion!I can no longer fly without it.
