LOL, Yes! That was a great movie... When my Dad and Brother were contemplating going in together for a Bonanza, I joked that we no longer could be felt sorry for if they got one... they missed the joke though... and the plane.As far as the down and out... It's very easy to see a few people taking advantage of help and then want to cut/eliminate such programs. I'd rather keep those kinds of programs fully funded for the people who truly need them, and prosecute/eliminate those people taking advantage... Just like when that idiot tried to crash into the white house with a cessna... the proper response wasn't to then close cessna, and revoke PPL's for everyone else.

Sorry to hear about the plane! That would have been pretty awesome. And yeah, it's funny how you can watch a movie once, hear a line from the script once, and have it tucked away safely waiting for memory recall even 10 years later lol. I'm afraid to vent my opinions any further regarding the welfare programs, as this probably isn't the most appropriate venue. But really, there needs to be something done about these sort of exploits as you're absolutely right -- you don't tear the whole house down when the roof is leaking -- you patch the hole.

The most disturbing sight for me was when I would patrol around section 8 housing areas at work and see new and highly modified BMW's, Cadillac Escalades, Mercedes-Benz, etc in the parking lot. Another instance I'll never forget was when a bus load of Hurricane Katrina refugees pulled into a luxury shopping mall nearby where I lived after the government issued those debit cards to get survival items. Again, the image being portrayed just doesn't align with the objective. I would have expected to see that bus pulling into a Wal-Mart or Target or something. Exactly! And we don't know that they spent the entire amount on the car or luxury items. If I'd just been flooded out of my house and had to spend a week in an unairconditioned Super Dome, I might feel like treating my self too.And I've read statistics that say no one in the U.S. is truly poor. Regardless, we're much more humanitarian today than we were 100 years ago, and I don't think that's a bad thing.
