March 24, 201214 yr A brand new Boeing T7 is great, but a new updated 747 is amazing.Indeed, this is great news.Eric Eric van Dorp
March 24, 201214 yr You are doubting the CEO of AVSIM and the fact he clearly stated he had a conversation with PMDG themselves?I did not notice any names on any of the posts made about the new developments so I clearly was not having a stab at the CEO of Avsim ( I was completely unaware of who the author of the article was). I have stated that I wasn't sure whether all the info was 100% accurate as it sounded too good to be true and I have never seen PMDG produce a new aircraft so quick. I apologised to Tom and all the other Avsim staff for this little misunderstanding and I do not think that this matter needs you to get involved and start stirring things up. You're post was completely unnecessary and will just cause problems. If Mr Allensworth is upset about anything even after me apologising then I will gladly have a conversation with him either on this forum or in a private message to clear things up as I respect him, the Avsim staff and all Avsim forum users greatly.Rich David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.
March 24, 201214 yr Fantastic news. Can't wait.Any thoughts about us cockpit builders : ie about a possibility to have panels only/possibility to run on a secondary PC ?SDK to interface with hardware as there was for the 737 NGX ?Such exciting times ! Specs : i7920@4,1GHZ, Asus Rampage II Extreme, MSI GTX560 Ti Twin Frozr II OC, 6Go RAM OCZ, Corsair HX850, Coolermaster Storm Sniper Black Mesh, Noctua NH-D14
March 24, 201214 yr To be completely honest I wasn't necessarily doubting that Avsim had seen these new devlopments but was more speculating whether the infromation about the 777 being so close to beta, the 747 V2 being released so soon after the T7 and the 400 and 8i variants of the 747 both being fully modeled was true. It certainly sounded too good to be true. Apologies if I caused offence to Mr Allensworth or anybody else at Avsim or PMDG. This was certainly not intentional.ThanksRichNo, I agree with your first instinct to question things! I just want to stress I've never seen misinformation directly from Tom on the main page -- He puts on the main page whatever the developers give him. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 24, 201214 yr Don't get me wrong chaps, PMDG are the bees knees, and I will purchase said 747. But I just think it's an awful shame when there are so many fascinating aircraft to simulate. Why does it always have to be a big Boeing, and in this case one they've done before? Why not grasp the challenge, and develop something different. Avro 146, Dornier 328... I was excited about a Dash 8, but a 747 is more like, yeah okay then, but could do better. I am aware that obtaining the required data to simulate fully is an issue for many types. You are right in principle, but consider this:A full development cycle for an aircraft with no base to work from (such as the NGX development was) is close to three years.Based on the status of 777 and 747/v2, we can expect them both within, say 18 months from NGX release. That is twice the planes in half the time.Considering that, and the general popularity of both 747 and 777 in flightsim, making them seems to me a very well thought out maneuvre on PMDGs part.Should they make for ex. AvroRJ series instead, they would have very little, if any at all, reusable code from the 737, so we would end up with an add-on, that is not well represented, but would not be too popular either, and miss out on two of the most popular airplanes, possibly some updates to 737 (for example we would possibly never have RTA, if it were not for 777) and more. --Peter Fabian
March 24, 201214 yr Cool! Looks like we'll be moving to the "heavies" fleet soon. And my credit card is ready..VATSIM will soon become a Boeing area.... Hey, "A" fans - I'm just kiddin'.... :) Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931
March 24, 201214 yr With the 777 being so close to beta and release, Captainsim must be very worried. I think we all know what happened to them when Just Flight/Black Box released their 737 Jurassic.
March 24, 201214 yr I just want to know; how the hell does PMDG expects me to be able to afford all of these add-ons in close order?! :( ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
March 24, 201214 yr No, I agree with your first instinct to question things! I just want to stress I've never seen misinformation directly from Tom on the main page -- He puts on the main page whatever the developers give him.I guess I just wasn't aware that Tom writes all the posts for the main page as this is something I had never really thought about if I am perfectly honest. Now I know Tom is the author for all these news posts then I will think twice before doubting any information.Sorry Tom.ThanksRich David Andrew - desert based - a330/350 rated.

March 24, 201214 yr Commercial Member With the 777 being so close to beta and release, Captainsim must be very worried. I think we all know what happened to them when Just Flight/Black Box released their 737 Jurassic.I think the other company were always going to be worried from the moment PMDG announced the 777.. I hope to god, no one buys it from them, it will be a waste of money :(Curious what variants of the 777 are planned. Hoping for the 200LR/LRF series. The more freighers the better :)CheersTJI would sincerely hope that the -200 is coming first, as it was first out production, and the -300 comes as an expansion Alex Ridge Join Fswakevortex here!
