777 AND 747 2.0

Featured Replies

Oh god, no, no no!Not another 747!
That would be a view i'd agree with if it was indeed ANOTHER 747, but what it is (or what it seems to be) is a WELL NEEDED 747 update to the existing one. Probably paid, but that's expected and natural if you ask me.EDIT: Ohh the 4096 textures remind me i'll have to update the VA liveries i painted if the model does get an update. Ugh :(

Don't compare Robert to anyone, he's who he is with proper merit!

Am I going mental or does it say the 777 is soon to enter beta? Surely that is too soon.
As I understand Rob's email to me, the 777 will be released to BETA Testing in a month or two. Duration of BETA testing of course will be TBD... Who knows. But I can say this; the development cycle for the 777 even with a three month finalization and BETA test cycle is still only, what, 12 months or so since the NGX was completed? That's "speed of light" guys.Oh, and a cautionary note (my humble opinion)... Anyone that thinks the V2 B747 should be a "free upgrade" should be embarrassed to even post such a thought.

Don't get me wrong chaps, PMDG are the bees knees, and I will purchase said 747. But I just think it's an awful shame when there are so many fascinating aircraft to simulate. Why does it always have to be a big Boeing, and in this case one they've done before? Why not grasp the challenge, and develop something different.
Avro 146, Dornier 328...
I was excited about a Dash 8, but a 747 is more like, yeah okay then, but could do better.
I am aware that obtaining the required data to simulate fully is an issue for many types.

I've always wanted a decent 777 and It's great to see a lot of progress has been made with the PMDG version already! Even though we already have a 747, I think it's still great for Version 2 to bring it up the standards of the NGX. Both aircraft will be amazing for sure!

I'm not sure I 100% believe the announcement at the moment. I want official word from PMDG (I am just that fussy)
I wrote that article after hours of email exchanges with Rob who is in Munich. It is not nice to call into question the integrity of your host... It will get you slapped with demerits, you know. :(

When will the website be updated, though? It still has "700-600 Expansion Pack Released" and "SP1b released" and hasn't been updated since.

Does anyone know if the conference been recorded by someone ?Would be really nice to see and learn what's been told there. The information is great but I'm curious to get more knowledge on what was done and how it was done :D

Just a couple things (I have to leave for the day in a sec):1. Yes, the 744 v 2.0 is Secret Project #2. It's being made in parallel with the 777. A -8 will be made as the expansion and it'll be the full deal with cockpit/systems differences, FDE/engine modelling etc, not just the visual model and sound.2. I actually have an alpha version of the 777 already running here right now, yes.I'll let RSR tell you all more when he gets back from the convention (I assume tonight).

Thanks, my bad! What about the variants for the 777??? Is the -300ER included!?! :(
You're welcome. I initially thought it was the -800, too.As for the 777, I hope so, but I'm guessing it might go the way of the NGX with different expansions, because they're all pretty different.
The article does mention both the 400 and the -8 so I'm pretty sure they're both gonna be in the package but I will wait for word from Ryan or Robert before getting too excited. I'm not sure I 100% believe the announcement at the moment. I want official word from PMDG (I am just that fussy)Rich
Didn't actually look at that. That would be cool!

They're all busy at the conference, likely, so I wouldn't expect it for a while. I'd consider the announcement through AVSIM to be the official one for now, and I'm assuming they did it that way strategically (because they couldn't update their own site so soon).EDIT:Stand corrected on the 744 secret project bit. I wouldn't have called that a secret project with all of the hinting and outright commenting on it, but I can't say I'm disappointed.

That is what I meant. I was just shocked to find out how quick PMDG had developed the 777.

Well you're post did not contain any information that you had been in contact with anybody at PMDG and nobody at PMDG has commented on this news (Ryan posted at the time of writing) so I apologise for questioning you're post Sir but with all due respect news about PMDG products seems a lot more genuine and realistic coming from PMDG themselves.Rich
