I think Daryl's statement is a completely valid, professional, and credible answer.

Each developer has the right to do business the way they want to. Some provide constant updates and screenshots of their work, some choose to keep their mouths shut while they do their thing behind the scenes.

I really don't think developers should have to answer to these constant requests/demands/semi-logical whiny tirades for release dates and updates. And I don't think Level-D should be expected to work like other developers do. In other words: if Payware Developer A is making a plane, and releases an update once a week, Payware Developer B is making a plane, and releases an update once a month, and Level-D is making the 757 and all we've heard in four years is "The 757 is coming".......so what? It may sound ridiculous, but that's the way they want to do things.

If we don't like it, we're free to take our money elsewhere, or form our own team and make a payware-quality 757 of our own. But I'd venture to say that even with all the discontent regarding a lack of updates, a lot of flight simmers are slobbering for this plane, and they'll whip out their credit cards the moment Daryl announces its release.

Level-D will do what they have to do, release the 757 when it's done, and their work will speak for itself (and keep in mind Flight1's return policy). I think it's silly and pointless for people to demand things from them, or give them ultimatums--"either you make the 757, or let PMDG do it!" Haha....what?

Level-D Simulations has not been disrespectful to the flightsim community.

I have stated, time and again that the 757 is coming. How is not giving definite dates or monthy updates about the product that doesn't yet exist in the marketplace in any way disrespectful?

Isn't it disrespectful of some community members to continue to post support solutions here in the UNOFFICIAL forum when we have stated time and again that OFFICIAL support is offered for FREE at http://www.leveldsim.com/forums?

When offering assistance here you may be aiding members of the community who prefer to steal software rather than purchase the product.

I guess respect is a one-way street?

We appreciate that the community would like to see the product released, and so would we, but for various reasons - which I will not impart to the community because it is an internal matter - the product is not ready to be released.

But, hey, it could be ready to be released tomorrow.

But since we don't make announcements that's unlikely.

Thanks for the interest and support. We recognize the delay has turned into a hideous mess. But, in hindsight, we should never have released ANY INFORMATION until the project was closer to completion. What makes the mess more intolerable from my point of view as the public spokesperson of Level-D is that some self-appointed nameless police officers - like you northridge - in the forums who feel it is their role to make us account for the delay. Like we have somehow owe you something, that we have taken some money from you...

Such a monumental waste of 0's and 1's to engage in this kind of retrograde negativity. But, I persist posting here, because I do care about our customers, and don't wish a few cranky apples to twist the message to something it isn't.

The 757 is coming.

Darryl, I believe the only reason that this issue has re-surfaced, is the quote from Ryan of PMDG.

As far as I'm concerned that changed everything. We don't have anything from you and, good guys that they are, PMDG has said--as much as they'd like to--they won't produce the plane as long as you say it isn't dead.

Listen, I don't expect to get anywhere with this. So I'll drop it, but I ask that if an LDS 757 is at all in doubt, please take a hard look as to whether PMDG ought to be released from their loyalty oath.

Only you know.

Thanks.

I know I don't speak for everyone, but I think I would prefer for developers to not announce products until they are in beta testing. This keeps the complaining to a minimum and when a product is announced, the period between the announcement and release is much shorter.

Ok, just because some of my comments in our forum were taken wrongly or out of context:

I did not say PMDG was ready to release a 757 but we stopped because of Level D. We do not have a 757 made, we do not have any parts of a 757 made. What I said was that it is an aircraft we would ***consider*** if Level D were to state they were no longer making theirs. This has not happened and as you can see from Daryl's comments here, it's not going to happen.

I did not say we have a "loyalty oath" pledged to Level D, nor any sort of agreement with them to not make the same aircraft. What I said is that we are friends as developers and it is our choice not to step on their already announced project. *Our* choice, not some legal document or anything that was ever discussed between the two companies.

We have our plate full of projects for years now - we are not making a 757 and a 757 would not take precedence over the 777 and 747 v.2 even if we were. Enough.

Just so you know, Level-D is working on a 777 and a 747 and a 737 and a A320.

That's why the 757 is so late.

Hahaha, some people are going to believe you...

"We recognize the delay has turned into a hideous mess. But, in hindsight, we should never have released ANY INFORMATION until the project was closer to completion".

If Level D had employed that level of frankness years ago none of this "hideous mess" would have been necessary,
