April 5, 201214 yr I've never posted anything anywhere before. I'm a FSX owner of the Level D 767 and several PMDG Products. I also have the inferior Captain Sim 757. That said, I'll be more that happy to wait on the 757 from Level D.
April 5, 201214 yr My first post here .I have the rating for both 57 and 67 ,The wait for a 757 will be worth at the end. Over the years i had learn how hard its to keep some simmers happy. Image removed as image is no longer available.
April 5, 201214 yr Classic! So much antagonism...so little reason. All I need to know is that it will come...1 year, 3 years, 15 years...meh. Unless something MAJOR happens... FSX may be at its limits with regard to graphics quality, rendering, etc. so if you have it running smooth now with all the pretty planes and scenery...you win! We are beginning to see products that are at the bleeding edge of what FSX is capable of so why rush the development of a quality product? It doesn't seem like we will be upgrading to a new sim anytime soon and the quality of product on the horizon is light years ahead of what we had even 2 years ago so why cause a fuss? Is obsolete hardware or a new sim the reason? Well obviously that argument is moot. That PMDG 737 we all have in our hangars, the new PMDG 747, the new PMDG 777 and eventually (good things come to those who wait...right?) the LVL-D 757 should all be knocking around on our hard drives long after most of the antagonizers on this forum have sprouted hair on their man-parts, discovered girls, and moved onto wearing cologne and going out on Friday nights instead of bothering Dshuttleworth and playing with FSX. Kind of reminds me of the cast from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. "I want it all and I want it NOW!" I love the 757 and if Level-D says we will get one we will. If it for some reason it doesn't happen...the market's forces and demand will fix that. Frankly I find it comforting that PMDG (a quality developer) and LVL-D (a quality developer) are looking out for each other because I need them around making my airplanes for me. I want that team nice and happy making me shiny jets to fly around. Daniel Fernandez
April 6, 201214 yr It's amazing what some people feel they are owed. I love the 767, and I'm looking forward to the 757. I'm happy to wait, and I'm sure that in the end it will be well worth it.
April 7, 201214 yr Just so you know, Level-D is working on a 777 and a 747 and a 737 and a A320. That's why the 757 is so late. are you serious? wow, great.. i hope you are . Daniel choen

April 11, 201214 yr My take, The 757 is going to be a dud, that's why Level D hasn't released any VC shots. They got in over their heads. April 12, 201214 yr All I need to know is that it will come...1 year, 3 years, 15 years...meh. There is scant evidence that anything will come, and, as others have pointed out, the relevance of the 757 coming out will be fairly moot. However, what struck me as platitudinous about the quoted post was 15 years (whatever). That is utter nonsense. No market allows for that amount of complacency. To be fair, it is clear that LevelD is NOT concerned with market forces - so we wait. 15 years ago, only 1.7% of the world's population were connected to the Internet (36 million people), today, there are upwards of 2.2 billion. 15 years before that, PCs were an emerging curiosity and we had our 1st (very primitive) version of MSFS. 15 years before that, we had "super computers" less capable than the latest iPad. It is preposterous to think that "it doesn't matter how long it takes." A point the OP, and others, had made, which I support, is: the chivalry between LevelD and PMDG is somewhat of a disservice to the increasingly marginalized "niche" segment that is heavy-iron lovers. We don't have a new-technology engine (Flight), or one that we can use with a straight face (Prepar3d), or one that is stable enough to be 1st rate (XPlane). What PMDG is doing is ramping up product to give us, as Robert quoted in Munich, "the planes we see at the local airport" in high-fidelity. Of course LevelD is entitled to move at an ant's pace, and I long ago gave up on the 757. No, I think that PMDG has a very vibrant, forward-thinking, and high-quality design machine running now. As such, with a focus on Boeing, we could really benefit from a 757/767 that is at high standards. The truth is, PMDG could charge upwards of $100 for each plane if they keep giving us NGX-level productions. So, I join in the lament not that the 757 is overdue (I don't care anymore), but that we have a missed opportunity with a matured and "in-production" development team in favor of a trite buddy system. Obviously, it is somewhat of a waste to rant about it here as Daryl is well, well within his rights to come to a place that he volunteers to speak, and simply state: "there will be a 757." Personally, I give no credence to the statement any longer, but that is his prerogative. However, I am chiming in as I believe in the perspective put forth here that a superior developer is very capable of giving us something, and perhaps something quite sooner. Anyone serious about heavy iron will have nothing but fondness for the 767, but we are, indeed, 10 years on. It would be better to just let the market take care of getting us a 757. The truth is, the QualityWings version isn't poor enough to dismiss. Also, many are just fine with the CaptainSim version. All there is room for, is the top of the quality heap. While LDS is no doubt capable, they are not willing. I'll bet that PMDG would be. What PMDG have, that is evident in the NGX, is a relationship with the manufacturer (Boeing), and a highly talented team that is only getting better. It would be in our collective best interest is this honor agreement was terminated, and/or, the LDS product just be merged into PMDG. Sort of a merger. April 12, 201214 yr Hi Mike, Well said!!!. As great as the LDS 767-300 is, as of today, it's a one hit wonder in my book. It's HOW MANY YEARS LATER and were still waiting on the 757, with little to nothing as far as updates, all we really have are unforfilled promises from a PART TIME developer that hasn't turned out a new product in many, many years. I believe both PMDG and the simming community have waited long enough for this 757, its time for PMDG to throw their hat in the ring. With all due respect to LDS, the last aircraft they released was the FSX 767 which is based on 10 year old technology for FS2004. As much as I love the LDS 767 and fly it regularly, LDS as a developer has become irrelevant because they are no longer developing anything. They developed one product. Why are we still having this discussion and why is PMDG waiting on LDS? IF PMDG is willing to make a high fidelity 757 but is holding back out of respect for LDS, then LDS should let them do it out of respect for the FS community. After all, its not about one developer but rather the thousands of potential customers and the continual flow of fresh products that is required to keep this hobby and community afloat. At the end of the day, the "we do this part time" excuse has worn thin. Either make the 757 or don't make the 757. PMDG has been busting their butts churning out airplanes, LDS has produced nothing in a decade. Heck, its actually taken less time for the REAL 787 to be released than it has for LDS to develop a virtual 757! Come on... Its time for LDS to step aside, stop making vaporware promises and let PMDG do what they have to do. Time to move on to a developer that will actually deliver. April 12, 201214 yr I'm still not sure where this sense of entitlement a lot of you have comes from. 'We, as flight simmers, are owed a 757, we're owed updates, we're owed screenshots and videos, we're owed a release date.' Give me a break. Level-D owes nothing to any of us. Let's also remember this: We have our plate full of projects for years now - we are not making a 757 and a 757 would not take precedence over the 777 and 747 v.2 even if we were. Here, let me post it again: We have our plate full of projects for years now - we are not making a 757 and a 757 would not take precedence over the 777 and 747 v.2 even if we were. Also, I'm still firmly of the belief that all the same people that are being so overly, and in my opinion, unfairly, critical of LDS will be the very first ones to trip over themselves whipping out their credit cards when the 757 is released. I don't see any massive "Occupy"-style boycotts coming from the sim community.
April 13, 201214 yr Isn't it disrespectful of some community members to continue to post support solutions here in the UNOFFICIAL forum when we have stated time and again that OFFICIAL support is offered for FREE at http://www.leveldsim.com/forums? 757 threads on your official forums are routinely locked or deleted. Where else would one go to debate the issue? Daryl I don't wanna bust yer chops but I think any logical detached person would agree that LDS ought to be more forthcoming with something more tangible to its expected sales base. Give me a break. Level-D owes nothing to any of us. Oh? And to whom are they going to sell?
