September 6, 201213 yr Ideally, I want high fidelity short/medium haul aircraft which I have the time to fly and which are still in current use where I live - which is where I tend to fly. I stretched the point for the PMDG MD11 but by the time that came out, to all intents & purposes, only the freighter was relevant to real world operations. It's notable that up to 2010, BA also flew the 757-200 but it's been retired while we've been waiting for a quality FSX model. I guess it won't be long before the 787 starts to replace the 757 on the transatlantic routes operated by the American majors. It's clearly best for users if FS models come out while the real aircraft are still in real-world use. Crucially, it's also best for the publishers as it provides them with the biggest possible market. I accept that developers can produce what they want when they want and that the effort & skill required to produce one of these things is huge - especially as very few can get to the critical mass to operate as a full time business. However, it is disappointing that for a myriad of reasons we're still waiting for a quality 757, one of the most successful aircraft of its generation - and indeed for an A319/A320, which could see the Neo flying before we get a PMDG/LDS quality base version.
September 6, 201213 yr Yep, Level-D, its coming after the 757. Excited? The 787 will be a relic by then. Go straight to the 797. Paul Gugliotta
November 12, 201213 yr Any comment from Darryl if 2013 may become the release-year we've all been waiting for? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Regards, Frank van der Werff
November 12, 201213 yr I think I saw Darryl play a sheriff or similar in Supernatural recently. Season 5 I think. Bit of useless trivia

January 21, 201313 yr 21 now. I don't like to bump old threads but this one seems important and I'm just as curious as everyone else! Aesthetically anyway, the 757 has always been a favorite of mine. I love the flat belly, tall landing gear and that nose is just too cute -_-

February 16, 201313 yr Tick tock tick tock tick tock... Time is passing by and no word on anything 757 related. Can I say its officially not going to happen? Ivo Dimitrov
February 17, 201313 yr Tick tock tick tock tick tock... Time is passing by and no word on anything 757 related. Can I say its officially not going to happen? Personally... I've stopped believing it will ever be released... and personally... I'm completely f'ed-up with the complete and utter silence treatment Level-D is giving us. I'm sure there are a million very valid reasons why this project will never be finished, but please let them have the descency to just give a formal communication about it. Even PMDG is more communicative.. Thing that frustrates the most to me is that companies like PMDG have hold off developing a high fidelity 75' because of LDS.... Regards, Frank van der Werff
February 17, 201313 yr But.......they've said they're working on it. If one of Level-D's developers has said they're working on it, well, call me stupid but I'm inclined to believe him. Sorry, but I don't understand why people have this sense of certainty that this project is never going to happen. Is it because they haven't updated their progress beyond "there will be a 757?" What makes us, as simmers, entitled to updates and screenshots and videos? I feel ridiculous because I'm sure I'm coming off as some kind of massive tool, but it bugs me when people make statements like so many I've seen in this thread. Or when they demand things or feel entitled to them, then make blanket statements and assumptions when they don't get what they want, or feel entitled to. Thing that frustrates the most to me is that companies like PMDG have hold off developing a high fidelity 75' because of LDS.... This is from earlier in this thread. Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but Tabs is one of PMDG's developers, right? Ok, just because some of my comments in our forum were taken wrongly or out of context: I did not say PMDG was ready to release a 757 but we stopped because of Level D. We do not have a 757 made, we do not have any parts of a 757 made. What I said was that it is an aircraft we would ***consider*** if Level D were to state they were no longer making theirs. This has not happened and as you can see from Daryl's comments here, it's not going to happen. I did not say we have a "loyalty oath" pledged to Level D, nor any sort of agreement with them to not make the same aircraft. What I said is that we are friends as developers and it is our choice not to step on their already announced project. *Our* choice, not some legal document or anything that was ever discussed between the two companies. We have our plate full of projects for years now - we are not making a 757 and a 757 would not take precedence over the 777 and 747 v.2 even if we were. Enough.
February 17, 201313 yr I share similar frustrations as other posters. I've been desperate for a high quality 757 simulation for quite some time. I hate that this "in development" project is so silent. If the 757 has been abandoned then please let us know. If you guys aren't going to do it, I'm sure PMDG would jump on and make an equally great aircraft. Karl Brooker
