Best payware aircraft?

Featured Replies

I know this topic is neither here nor there, but I'm kinda new to the whole flight sim scene so please forgive me.Which payware aircraft would say are the best in terms of graphics, realism and overall package?I have bought a couple of Carenado planes but it is kind of expensive to experiment too much :-)I considering buying the Aerosoft Otter package but it seems to be quite old, a couple of years at least and does that even matter? What do you guys think?

My personal favorite is the PMDG NGX. You might want to start perusing the AVSIM Commercial Reviews as we're pretty good about getting most products reviewed.http://www.avsim.com/pages/content.shtmlMy review for the NGX: http://www.avsim.com/pages/1111/PMDG/737NG.htmlI'm going to move this to the Hangar chat though -- I have a feeling this topic in the Prepar3d Forum will start another licensing interpretation.

Sincerely,

Chase

The Aerosoft Twin Otter is getting a remake. Therefore I'd wait until that one is released, because there will be no upgrade discount.Judging from what you wrote above, you seem to be interested in prop/turboprop aircraft. I can highly recommend PMDG's Jetstream 41 to you. The avsim review to that addon can be found here:http://www.avsim.com...09/PMDG/J41.htm

Tom

I would have to say the Leonardo Maddog MD80.The NGX has pretty pictures arranged to give you a nice virtual cockpit, it is second to none. The Maddog blows everyone out of the water when it comes to system simulation.Engine operation, crosfeed simulation, ice formation, icing effect on engines, a working weather radar and working shared cockpit over the internet are just some of the things that spring to mind.

Those planes look great, but I'm not quite ready to fly heavies and big passager planes.I kinda like to roleplay small time general aviation jobs in single engine planes like the CT210 Centurion or the Skymaster. I guess a twin engine would be fun too, but bush piloting is quite fun :-)So, I guess what I'm saying is that I'm asking about the best small planes out there, bush, and planes like the Otter. And Tom79, thanks for the tip on the Aerosoft Otter, I'll wait with that one then.

Hm, in the GA corner I could recommend the following addons to you:A2A Piper CubVery realistic addon, perfect for bush flying (has a variant with tundra tires and one with floats). If you decide to buy it, be sure to get it with the AccuSim package. The only drawback: the Cub is a very slow airplane, not really for cross-country flying unless you have a lot of time (no autopilot!).Review: http://www.avsim.com...209/A2A/Cub.htm(also, check out the youtube videos from A2A that show some of the features)Marcel Felde/Aerosoft Diamond Katana4XI have yet to see a GA aircraft addon that has this much attention to detail. This is as close as it gets in terms of realism (even the circuit breakers work). But not a real bush plane. Also, no autopilot.Review: http://www.simflight...tana-4x-review/If you like it a bit faster, the RealAir Turbine Duke and Aerosoft Bronco are supposed to be very good. I don't have them but they are on my shopping list. Of course, these are not real bush planes though.I also hear a lot of good words about Aerosoft's BeaverX. But like the Twin Otter, this one is scheduled for a makeover.

Regards,

Tom

I would say that the three main contenders would most likely be any of A2A's AccuSim aircraft, or the PMDG Boeing 737 NGX, or the Aerosoft Diamond DA20-100 4X. All of these choices are not only excellent emulations of their real world counterparts, but all of them feature maintenance and wear and tear on the systems to varying degrees and extremely realistic operating parameters. This combination of features puts them in the top slots in my view.Al

Hi,I'd have to say the PMDG 737NGX.

Former Beta Tester - (for a few companies) - As well as provide Regional Voice Set Recordings

                Two: AMD-9950X | One: AMD-7950X3D | Three: Asus TUF 4090s | Three: 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000mhz | Three: Cosair 1300 P/S | Three: 990Pro 2TB NVME                    One: Eugenius ECS2512 - 2.5 GHz Switch | Three: Ice Giant Elite CPU Coolers | Three: 75" 4K UHDTVs | One: Boeing 737NG Flight Deck

Right now PMDG's 737NGX.

CASE: Fractal Terra Silver CPU: AMD R5 7800X3D 5.0Ghz RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 GPU: nVidia RTX 4070 Ti SUPER · SSDs: Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe · PNY XLR8 CS3040 2TB M.2 PCIe · VIDEO: LG-32GK650F QHD 32" 144Hz FREE/G-SYNC · MISC: Thrustmaster TCA Airbus Joystick + Throttle Quadrant · MSFS2024 · Windows 11

Bay-tower RV7 from the GA standpoint. But in all fairness, all of the planes mentioned here in this thread are just awesome, it's like sorting through a pile of high quality diamonds, you would do well to get any of them.

to index things you should spend some time reading the reviews, but some of the best have been mentioned. Try Level D 767 for long haul and Leonardo Maddog MD 8x for classic feel

I agree with the peanut gallery......PMDG NGX 737 is the bestI also really like Carenado C337H SkyMasterWith these two aircraft you get the best of Airliner and General Aviation aircraft their is for FSXCheers

Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm not quite ready for airliners, but I already have the Carenado Skymaster and agree it is very good. I'll check out the Baytower RV7, would be nice to something not-Carenado :-)I'll definitely get the new Otter from Aerosoft and I'm also very tempted to try the 208 Grand Caravan from Carenado soon too :-)

Aerosoft's Twin Otter would be a good choice but with a new version on the way I'd wait for that. RealAir's Duke looks very good too but I don't actually have it yet so I can't say anything about how it flies.Still, if you like a bit of roleplaying and isn't totally opposed to the idea of a big passenger plane then I strongly recommend A2A's Boeing 377 with the Captain of the ship upgrade. The career mode gives a lot more meaning to the flying and suddenly you actually start giving a **** about how you fly. :(

I have the Carenado C208 and I must say that it's not as great as I expected it to be.
