March 31, 201214 yr David, EZCA does work with P3D, all you need to do is copy the exe.xml file in your FSX.cfg directory to your P3D.cfg directory and it works perfectly. Not sure about TIR though.Yes that's right but TIR does not work David Murden. March 31, 201214 yr To whom can still post on Orbx forum, can you please ask them this question, will there be a free patch to convert all the scenery you have from Orbx to the upcoming Prepar3D DX11 or will you have to buy all new scenery to be DX11 compliant ?Or will you have to pay to have your allready paid for scenery from Orbx patched up to be DX11.....SBSLs free....so when everybody is on Prepar3D the question above become very relevant, don't you think?
March 31, 201214 yr Good news for those who are interested in P3D. I am however not stunned or wow'ed. And I also won't call this a smart move. This is indeed how it should have been from the start. Period.
March 31, 201214 yr Yes that's right but TIR does not workHi Dave, not sure that's right. From what I have read, TrIR will not work independently but it will work via Ezdok.. or at least this is what I'm led to believe. March 31, 201214 yr Commercial Member Will still be on a holding pattern until v2.0 comes out and see what will be under the hood. And to the poster above, there will be a charge from moving from 1.x to 2.0. LM has stated that major upgrades will not be free (ie; 2.0, 3.0, etc.). I just don't see enought yet to make the move. Getting tempted but I've got FSX running nice and smooth and looking good, need my TrackIR and I understand for some reason EZdok cannot "officially" move into P3D (from tidbits I am reading here and there). March 31, 201214 yr I need 4 things to respond favourably to the appeal to move to Prepar3D from FSX. Without all four, I will pass on the appeal.1. Certainity that ORBX scenery will work in the upcoming Prepar3D 2.02. The bulk of my addon utilities, sceneries and aircraft will work in Prepar3D3. TrackIR fully works in Prepar3D4. Multiplayer AbilityThere would be a fifth, concerning an acknowledgement by ORBX of the ill treatment done to so many of us, but that is beyond my expectations of the possible. In any case, I will not sacrifice a single one of the above at this stage of flux.Kind regards,
March 31, 201214 yr Fitsimguy, How do you like P3D, is it worth the switch? It would of cost me a few $ to switch to P3D paying for the licenses. Glad they are free, looks good on Orbx. Here's the deal. The GUI interfaces are different, I got better quality and great framerates right from the start, did not appear to have any microstutters. Found that if I cranked the sliders to the max I got tremendous detail, tons of autogen etc but my it did bring my computer to its knees in KSEA area. For fun I took my heavily tweaked FSX.cfg file and successfully ported (renamed and replaced the Prepar3D.cfg) it over to P3D. The sim ran even better. I don't know how the total significance of this move but everything worked perfectly. As far a I can see most if not everything scenery will work perfectly, planes I have tried yet but the structure is similar so I'm thinking that much will be protable to P3D without misery. As I said earlier I could have linked my Orbx stuff over at any time if I had bought P3D earlier, its no big deal to copy a few files or setup your scenery library to draw upon the FSX setup. As the structure for files is the same with World/Scenery etc.One thing that is good is that P3D/LM folks have their own forums so the Orbx banned don't have to put up with inability to provide some critical response to products or functions of thier sim given what I have seen over there. They appear to be open minded about stuff, taking criticisms and matching patches to fix the issues instead of taking everything personal.'SpiritFlyer'I need 4 things to respond favourably to the appeal to move to Prepar3D from FSX. Without all four, I will pass on the appeal.1. Certainity that ORBX scenery will work in the upcoming Prepar3D 2.0- fair enough, you will soon find out, but I suspect that given how scenery is loaded into the sim, nothing will change regarding reading textures and such.2. The bulk of my addon utilities, sceneries and aircraft will work in Prepar3D- how much is the bulk. I really only use a few key addons, utilities, and now would be a good time to email, or use the forums for those addon manufacturers to ask them about this.3. TrackIR fully works in Prepar3D- don't have it, don't know sorry4. Multiplayer Ability- yesThere would be a fifth, concerning an acknowledgement by ORBX of the ill treatment done to so many of us, but that is beyond my expectations of the possible.Something like this would make them hero's and would be truely stunning.- actually a simple, open up the doors to the banned (unless they did something illegal - like prirate their software - to get banned), would be an acknowledgement enough, a simple statement "due to the recent move by LM to make P3D more accessible to a broader audience and our desire to be inclusive of all customers, older and new, we are, effective immediately, providing broader forum coverage to ensure our community has the benefit of a full range of customer support and their knowledge." There you go then.In any case, I will not sacrifice a single one of the above at this stage of flux.Kind regards, Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
March 31, 201214 yr Looks like they got it right this time, so lessons learned. I just bought Swanson a day ago.EDIT: Removed free advertising for Orbx. Please do not do that again (the images and the links that is). Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
March 31, 201214 yr I am far from stunned. I think that reference is a bit over the topI would have to say you are right. I stand corrected :(
March 31, 201214 yr I would have to say you are right. I stand corrected :(No big deal Stephen, no criticism intended, just that I thought that Orbx was completely off the mark charging to link in something that you already paid a licence for when they had previous announced about how that P3D was the wave of the future for them. It only made sense to me right from the start that there should not be a charge for this ability. Probably the commercial addon developers will need to modify their licences to acknowledge the ability to have both P3D and FSX using the one product either directly (a second copy on one computer or linked to the original in FSX.Will still be on a holding pattern until v2.0 comes out and see what will be under the hood. But these are exciting times I think for simming!I agree with everything you state. Personally, I just decided to experiment and stay on top of what was developing. I expect to pay for the upgrade. I trust that they will be "reasonable" in that regard. It will be hard for me to venture into MSFlight given my FSX is so robust and P3D is developing and supported by an outfit with billions $$$ and sells, at a few billion $$ each, some of the most deadly flying machines on the planet to the US gov't. I think they can handle some software development. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
March 31, 201214 yr ...given my FSX is so robustI would have thought that you'd have had more sense than to actually WRITE THAT DOWN! All I can say is, you got guts! :( The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
March 31, 201214 yr I would have thought that you'd have had more sense than to actually WRITE THAT DOWN! All I can say is, you got guts! :(Hey Ron, I have no idea what you are referring to, sorry, perhaps my old age is catching up with me. You mean "robust" aka as healthy, strong, running so well, loaded with addons? Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
March 31, 201214 yr I'm sorry mate, it seems the humour didn't make the Atlantic crossing. I was referring to the FSX gods that'll mess things up as soon as you get smug. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
