April 17, 201214 yr Hello I learnt some time ago with the help of the great moderators here, that only positive thoughts on MS Flight! are welcome in this forum. That is why you never see the majority of Avsims members posting in here, anything that is in the slightest way negative towards the game is met with open hostility by the handful of Flight! supporters that still visit here. I still have MS Flight! installed and try it every once in a while, but I do not feel welcome to post my thoughts in this forum. Like Arwen I was also a Beta tester from the start and I also hoped the game would turn out to be more than it has, but I cannot express my feelings towards its shortcomings without being shot down by Flight! supporters and risking a ban from a website that I have visited daily for many years.
April 17, 201214 yr Glad to see new people involved, I really am, we need that. All I ask is that we be given a choice. I hate being temped to even consider buying a aircraft model with out a cockpit. It is such a waste as I really want the P-51. It looks to me that some effort must have already been put forth on cockpit design going by some of the posted picks about moving the camara view point. That is what gives me hope. By the way, I am 66 years old, retired and have been a real word pilot since 1982, now inactive due to the usual reasons, money, time, family, etc. That is why I turned to flight sims, and I due consider FLIGHT more of a sim than a game, but I do enjoy that aspect as well. Also a long time member of the EAA. Did you know that there will be a arobatic demonstration put on by TEAM RV at Airventure this year involving 12 RVs with smoke. Over 7,000 RVs are now flying making it the most popular amateur built aircraft in the world. I will be there as I am almost every year. Check it out on www.eaa.org Steve
April 17, 201214 yr Negative is fine but what I don't understand is why a member can get away with saying 'I gotta assume that cockpit-less flyers are 15 years old or thereabouts' When that is a comment that was posted to get a reaction so a reaction is what you get & a mod is happy for it to be said. Was it not such posts that got this whole MS flight forum closed down for a number of weeks? A Negative comment like. 'I gotta assume that cockpit-less flyers don't need to see all the dials to enjoy flying........' Will not get a reaction. I was under the missunderstanding that this was a flying fan forum for fans of flying but I am wrong.

It looks to me that some effort most have already been put forth on cockpit design going by some of the posted picks about moving the camara view point. That is what gives me hope. I got the P-51 during the beta. Suffice to say I initially despised it, and made all kinds of comments against the cockpit-less concept. Then I received a free copy after release. At first I only used it to get some awards and achievement, then I moved the eye-point back to the fake cockpit and I pretend to fly from within. I really enjoy it that way. The Zero is not my cup of tea so I won’t buy it, so far one cockpit-less plane is enough for me; that is unless they release a Basic SR-71, then I might be tempted to buy it in order to get the Curvature of the Earth and other awards. (Of course I would prefer a Deluxe model) Maybe, just maybe in the future the cockpits will appear. Who cares what other people think, Go for it. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

Garsands, please stop making false statements about me. I have been more than tolerant about some of the comments about me here, but I've about reached my limit. There is a huge difference between not censoring a post, and being "happy for it to be said." There was nothing wrong in a person posting that they assume that the [majority] of cockpit-less fliers are 15-year olds. And I will not chastise a member for making a post like that, so go complain to Tom if you are not happy with my moderating, rather than getting personal in this forum. ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
April 17, 201214 yr I am all for discussion. Without discussions this place would be a boring place. But simpy coming in here and saying 'this game sucks' or 'if you like it you must be a 15 year old' or even 'I'm done with Flight, I am going for P3D' is NOT what I call discussing. That's simply spoiling a lot of people's fun and being a PITA. I wouldn't mind if onelines like that would be removed by mods immediately. But if you REALLY got something useful to say, I am all in for a discussion!
April 17, 201214 yr Arwen, What false statements have I made about you? Can you please explain as I am treading very lighty here & I don't want to put a foot wrong.
April 17, 201214 yr Having read this thread with great interest, I thought I would write a few bits about what Flight means to me. I am 56 and now work in pro flight simulation using a CAE Level-D simulator and 2 fixed based trainers made from the real nose section of broken up Boeing 737's. A regular day for me is to use Cae's " Tropos 6000 " software in the level-d sim and Project Magenta software in the FTD's. It is all 737NG based software and very advanced and realistic to use. My work also involves setting up the software because we cannot be in the situation where we have to wait for someone to come all the way from Canada every time something gives trouble. When I am at home it is all MS Flight. I love it and find that it has actually rekindled my interest and love of desktop flight simulation. I do not really care that there is no ATC, AI etc etc (yet) because it is so nice to fly and behaves so realistically. I mostly fly the RV-6 but do spend time with the other planes including the cockpitless ones. I enjoy flying them all for what they are. So am I a Simmer ? Gamer ? 15 Y/O ?...............I would say Yes to all 3 and why not. (call me anything you want but Not too early in the morning ! lol) Also............If you are ever in a multiplayer session and feel old age creeping up on you,................do not worry ! It's only me !! :LMAO: Fred. Frederic Steiner.
April 17, 201214 yr Great post, and BTW... How I woould LOVE to work there too :-) Having read this thread with great interest, I thought I would write a few bits about what Flight means to me. April 17, 201214 yr Arwen, What false statements have I made about you? Can you please explain as I am treading very lighty here & I don't want to put a foot wrong. She already explained but, as the old Latins said, repetita juvant. You wrote "When that is a comment that was posted to get a reaction so a reaction is what you get & a mod is happy for it to be said." Arwen reminded you that she never expressed happiness for that post, but simply did not censor it (there are some differences between the two things, you probably know). A.
April 17, 201214 yr Garsands, please stop making false statements about me. I've been counting to 10 a lot lately. My reply to the 15 year old statement was made after counting to 50 and still being annoyed, so I posted what I posted. However, I think it's best to aks yourself before you post something 'What's the use of this post' and 'Does it add something useful to the discussion' and 'Will it hurt someone'. I've not only counted to 10 a lot, I also typed a lot of posts which I finally did NOT post because I couldn't answer the questions I just posted in good way. People are indeed reaching a limit and for what...? For a game. Or a sim, if you like. Whatever. At least for something that should give us PLEASURE and JOY. Now I am no mod and I already asked for another topic to be closed a week ago (for similar reasons) and I don't want to make a habit of that, but imho I think it's best to lock this topic and be done with it. I wouldn't mind if everyone who does NOT like Flight would not come here anymore at all, after all, what's the freakin' USE of that, but it's a free world and a free forum (not talking about freedom of speech here, because that's a different story) and as I said before, discussions without different views aren't too interesting. But I rather discuss things with those who actually PLAY the freakin' game: even we who like it already have different views and we don't need useless input from those who don't even play it. I mean, you won't see me posting on any other game forum because I don't play those games. What's the use of me posting on the WoW-forum that I think that games sucks? Right, no use. That's why I stopped posting things on for instance the P3D forum and the Orbx forum. Well, that was all I had to say. Wouldn't it be great if this was my LAST ever off topic post on this forum...? I hope my next 3.353 posts will be about the game I like to play and will be usefull, adding something to the discussion and hurting no one.
April 17, 201214 yr As a simple soul that I am, I thought that Moderators read posts & if they are happy that they do not break the T&C or are not just posted to get a reaction then they do not act. So a Moderator was happy for 'I gotta assume that cockpit-less flyers are 15 years old or thereabouts' to pass, when before such posts got this forum closed down. As I am over the age of 15 years by far to many years here I am reacting to the said comment.
April 17, 201214 yr As I am over the age of 15 years by far to many years here I am reacting to the said comment. Im 54 and couldn't care less if someone tells me Im playing as a 15 year old. I'm having FUN, that's all it matters to me. Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
