How are the systems? I once downloaded his A300 because it had a full virtual cockpit, but discovered that only about a quarter of the systems actually worked. (I'm way pickier about freeware than I should be :wink:)

I've found the systems to be top-notch for freeware. The FE panel mostly works, along with a good chunk of the overhead. It's freeware though, so don't start cussing and throwing things when you find that "Hydraulic-Electric-Super-Booster-Pump-Thing 13A" doesn't function.

Thanks,

That was funny!

:LMAO: I wouldn't discard the possibility of me doing that...

I stumbled across the Project Tupolev Tu-154 and the MigSim Mig-23 and now have been completely spoiled when it comes to freeware.

Does the INS work? (I'm just asking because I don't have time to check it out for a few days)

Unfortunately not. There are however, many great freeware INS units available on the internet. Getting it into the VC would take a bit of work, but a 2D INS would be very simple to implement.

Thanks,

Adlai

Has some one figured out the Auto Throttle on this bird? I set A/T on and press IAS hold but she just continues to accelerate. (I'm sure I'm just doing something wrong) Other than that it's a nice model, and pretty detailed for freeware. Then again his Airbus models were just as well made, so I'm not really surprised. Thanks Thomas for making these available.

Thanks

I believe it was already set up you just have to download the ins/civa from simufly and install it havent had a chance to really mess around with it yet. http://www.simufly.com/ins/civa_updates.html

How I got it working was AP On / Flip on ATS / Click IAS.. It should auto set to your current IAS then from there just dial in the speed you want. Worked for me.

Hi,

I like it pretty much as well. Especially the external model is terrific in my eyes (I mostly use FS9 though..).

Regarding INS, I have installed the CIVA INS module 1.51 already in the FSX folder. Still, it is not active in the panel, so you would have to make the mods by your self in the panel.cfg.

I also agree with others, that it appears somewhat overpowered.

Appart from the 4-page description of the panels, are any of you aware of a manual for this bird?

But definately, I would say thankyou to Thomas Ruth an Erik Cantu for this addon.

BR,

Anders

I downloaded it. It is a nice looking plane. I do not like the way it handles. It does seem ridiculously overpowered. Very sluggish and unresponsive to rudder input.

+1

The plane looks really great, but it hard to fly her and to keep her below 250kts. Besides there seems to be an issue with the autobrakes. I did some RTO's and never got the plane to stop without breaking manually (I surely was below 140kts which I considered an appropriate value for V1 for a fully loaded DC10). There wasn't even a little breaking. Anyone else got this problem or knows a fix for it?

Florian

Anyone else got problems extending the gear after it was retracted on takeoff? It doesnt work for me.

Please, fix those issues, I already uninstalled the CLS version of that plane ;)

Does anybody know how to decrease the power of the plane a little? The overpowered issue is getting really annoying...

HI,

I made some changes to the aircraft.cfg file to reduce the rocket-like thrust and added some friction to the aircraft. This helped a lot...also I adjusted the aileron's effectiveness and a couple other things. Here is a clip from my edited file.

[flight_tuning]

cruise_lift_scalar=1.0

parasite_drag_scalar=1.25

induced_drag_scalar=1.0

elevator_effectiveness=.85

aileron_effectiveness=.70

rudder_effectiveness=.8

pitch_stability=1.1

roll_stability=1.2

yaw_stability=1.0

elevator_trim_effectiveness=.90

aileron_trim_effectiveness=1.0

rudder_trim_effectiveness=1.0

[jet_engine]

thrust_scalar=.75

Let me know if that helps!

Thank you Greg. Just tried your adjustments, she behaves much better now.
