Yes, I fly all planes with a joystick, and it's not FF either. Water physics in FSX are SO simplified. There's no trouble landing or taking off from water.

If you are interested at all in vintage-based planes, the Aerosoft Catalina is SUPERB. And it comes with variants that have modern avionics as well as old school.

Hi Coop.

Looks very interesting. Do you have one? If so, or if anyone else has one, how do you like it?

Am also interested in the RealAir Scout, particularly because it has a configuration with over-sized tires for landing on more rugged terrain.

the RealAir Scout package is great. Lots of fun

To everyone, thanks for your suggestions.

I have to admit that I'm fascinated with the Republic RC-3 Seabee. It's looks a bit like a "mini-me" Catalina! I see from their forum that they are working on a more powered version with an IFR cockpit that may be out before summer. I might just wait to see what they come up with.

This one would be cool, huh? http://www.seabee.info/twinbee.htm

Looks great! But I think they are thinking of a more powerful single engine plane.

Don't worry, I was just fantasizing. Ok, back to the turbine version. :Hypnotized: More seriously, the Catalina is a nice one too, much bigger, but great package.

Surprised nobody has selected the Carenado 206 family...sound set is much better than the 185. Quite cheap too, being an older model.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

For fun factor at sea I thoroughly enjoy my RealAir Scout amphibian variant from RealAirs Scout, Citabria and Decathlon package. For about $25 you get an insane amount of liveries and variants. Just counted in my plane list, 45 selections of aircraft. 5 variants are: Scout Standard, Scout Amphibian, Scout Tundra, Citabria and Decathlon all in one inexpensive package. It's an older package so you're not going to get the super detailed near photo realistic texturing that is common now a days (yet still holds its own) but considering everything you get for the price, and the pure fun factor of its flight model I found it one of the best bangs for the buck for exploring the Pacific Fjords.

Edit: Not to mention the nice panel configuration tool for each plane. Set it up the way you want..

Anyone own the RealAir Scout and the Carenado C185 who could provide the pros and cons of each?

@Bill

Is there a link to that RealAir Scout amphibian in your shot? Looks cool.

I'd go for the RA Scout pack...
