MS finally disabled comments on their MS Flight page a few days ago. Doesn't surprise me, a LOT of the comments there were clearly out of line.

Are you referring to the Facebook page?

As EVEL KNIEVEL would say, "Happy Landings!"

I was affraid to write this post, once I read Tom's post. Which I shouldn't. I agree that anyone posting has to respect the other colleges.

But criticism is part of the forums itself, I do remember a LOT of criticism about FSX, and still, but in most cases this conplains has made others to look for solutions and improvements. If we are affraid of posting when we are not satisfied or have a conplain, then no answers, solutions or improvments will be done.

A forum in which only product nice comments are allowed wont be very trusting. I don't use FSX because my system just can't handle it in the way I like, so I still use FS9, I didn't like Flight either and unistalled it, but I keep coming back to this forum looking for opinions and improvments and hoping that at some point I will be in a position to download Flight again.

Nice comments and non nice comments are important for me as long as it shows the overall evolution of the product, once the negaive comments disapear because those issues are solved the product turns more interesting. It has happen already with FSX, at the very begginning many many comments were negative, but they faded with time.

Please reconsider the position and allow negative and positive comments in this forum, let the time and updates silence the negative ones.

I hope that I wont be banned here because of this post

Regards, and happy landings to all fellow captains

You have to ask yourself why ? those are their dlc customers expressing their utter disappointement - turning a blind eye to what actually users or potential users think of a product is the fastest way to failure !

If I may, for those of you who are "kinda" scare to post here I can tell you, for having exchanged some PM with Tom, that he is a very fair man, does he agree with me all the time or do I agree with him all the time ....no...but he is very fair, and if your comment(s) are not a direct uncalled attack on a product(s) or a member(s) you should not fear about posting here.

I gave a good and fair shake at Flight, I got all the DLC but the Maule and cockpitless planes, it's a very good sim for what it does, is it for me....no...BUT...if we do not post what we don't like about Flight we may never get what we want, for me it's the missing AI, car traffic, toe brake that make me miss the immersion I get with FSX, does that mean Flight is no good at all, absolutly not, again Flight is good for what it does.

if we respecfully write about bugs we see and what we would like to see added in Flight by MS we will have a better chance to get their attention, does that mean MS will give us what we want...nope...but we can't say we did not try.

MS is getting feedback from these forums, trust me.

There's lots of positive things to say about Flight it seems, but to dismiss any adverse comments is like saying "I know better than you"

Ray, appreciate your support of our position on this. However, I want to make clear to everyone that this "oppression" conceived by some is NOT what we have done. The continued existence of this very topic is evidence that those conclusions are incorrect. I will say it one more time. Pro's and con's of any program, product add-on, utility, whatever in our hobby is both encouraged and supported in these forums. What is not supported and WILL NOT be allowed is continued harping, finger pointing, conspiratorial BS, and those that continue to foster any and all of those. We know that MS provides DLC's without cockpits. How many times do we need hear about it and put up with the sophomoric rants that some seem to want to repeat to the point of abusing AVSIM bandwidth and our eyes? Not to mention the total disregard for our request that they stop. That's an insult to you, the community member, and to our staff. An insult that I am not going to forgive for a while, I am afraid. ( and I am also not going to allow, or forgive, abuse of our volunteers. That is and will remain and immediate banning offense - that has happened at least once this week).

There are some in these forums that think MS betrayed them specifically and all of us in general. Thousands of posts have been made on the subject. Others believe that there is a monumental conspiracy. Yeah, okay, we've heard that a couple of thousand times too. Get over it. We (AVSIM) are not going to allow the forums to be saturated with the same apoplectic blather over and over again. It does nothing more than fuel the fire of resentment, prevents adult dialog and hijacks reasonable and productive threads that would otherwise be positive contributions to the FLIGHT community.

And let me set some other things straight... There are a lot of innuendo and outright lies being circulated here and elsewhere, that go something like; I am an MS stooge of some kind and that AVSIM's position and "heavy handed", "###### like", "freedom destroying", ad nauseam, moderation in these forums results from that. What a crock... Unless you were one of the eight or so in attendance in December at the MS Flight Gathering, you have no clue where I stand. So let me set the record straight, and please feel free to quote me anywhere in the net globe you wish - just make sure you give the entire quote....

I don't like FLIGHT. It is not my cup of tea. I have it in on my system, but haven't flown it since about the week after its release. I also have P3D, X-Plane 10, Falcon 4, DCS A-10, Rise of Flight, Fly! Legacy, DCS Black Shark, Battlefield 3, Train Simulator, Mass Effect 3, Wing Commander, and thousands of add-on's.

I think MS has made a terrible mistake, and their attitude toward the global simulation community is abdominal. We gave Joshua Howard an opportunity to put a different complexion on that in our interview with him a month or so ago. That didn't happen as you all saw. In short, AVSIM (not me but YOUR COMMUNITY) has an opportunity to open the doors to other simulators that did not, or could not gain traction while MS was still anticipated to continue with the MSFS genre'. MS has said that is not going to happen, or at least not for the foreseeable future. Whether they consciously understood the consequences of their decisions will never be known, I am sure. But I am sure that the alternative product teams were energized and reinvigorated by that MS decision and apparent doggedness in sticking to it. But most importantly and let me repeat that; MOST IMPORTANTLY, FLIGHT offers the potential, not fact, but potential, to bring thousands more into our global community. Those that will want more than the FLIGHT experience can offer are going to turn where? It won't take a new entrant to the FLIGHT "experience" to learn of sites and communities like AVSIM, and if you have paid any attention, you will have seen that happen since FLIGHT's release.

For those of you that don't believe you have ever seen anything like this in our hobby, either you are relatively new to it, or you have conveniently flawed memories. FLY versus MSFS, MSFS versus PROPILOT, PROPILOT versus Flight Unlimited, FSX versus FS9... The upheaval caused always, ALWAYS, by a minority who seem to "know better that anyone else" continues and we have seen it again in abundance here. My biggest disappointment? Those in that minority, for the most part, are experienced, knowledgeable members of our hobby. Yet, given the opportunity to provide some leadership in our hobby which would benefit its future, they chose instead to try to do everything they could (and still are) to torpedo it.

So, let me say it one more time... I don't like FLIGHT, but I do see it as a open invitation for others to join and provide the expansion of our hobby which in turn provides the motivation needed by others to continue to innovate and develop different alternatives and products for us, the flight sim enthusiast. How is that bad, again?

Uh, Tom? Can you please edit that quotation, because it makes it appear that is something I said.

I did... I quoted you and thought I was responding to another post.. I have corrected it.

Tom,

Very well put and I am sure sums up the feelings of many AVSIM users.

Now where is that blog you were going to write regarding usage of Prepar3D?..Just%20Kidding.gif

You could kill two 'birds' with one stone and end the two biggest topics of debate and controversy in the recent history of AVSIM!!

Yes, those were PhilBridge's words, quoted by me when I replied to him.

I think Tom needs another coffee.

but the appearance was, MS was not interested in anyones ideas period!, only reports of bugs.

But that is the whole purpose of beta testing - to find bugs before the existing application is released.

I would further limit that to being the only purpose of beta testing, Gerry. :Nerd:
