August 15, 201213 yr https://news.microsoftflight.com/blogs/news/archive/2012/08/15/getting-to-know-well-me.aspx Development has stopped, but this new refreshingly honest and frequent communication stream has begun. Microsoft have built a fantastic foundation in Flight to 'fire up' or re-open development in the future. I can't help linger on an ebb of excitement here and am still glued, if not more so to the blog updates. Please please Microsoft keep going. We are right behind you.
August 15, 201213 yr Meh....Nothing really new.. I wish I could be as excited as you on this one. I think the only way I can is if they do reopen development and do it right. It seems that Loki and crew almost agree with us in a sense that we had ZERO communication and interaction with them and that is a huge speculation of why they failed. I myself have bought 5-6 other flight sims, but they do not compare with flight. I would buy FSX(I have not yet) but all the addons you have to get to make it even look decent, well you are hundreds of dollars in the hole right there. If FSX had the same flying mechanics and smoothness, then I wouldnt care paying that much for it. Anyways, thank you for the post poplar
August 15, 201213 yr Author I think my feelings are based on both a disbelief that it's over, and a post Olympic British triumphant hope that they could pull off a resurgence.

Anyways, thank you for the post poplar FSX is not hopeless if you have the right machine, but I think even its greatest supporters would have trouble honestly conveying that in this day and age it wasnt pretty bad right out of the box. I just deleted fsx from my HD while I ponder a few things, and was surprised to note that even with all the gigs of addons I have available, on my last install I had apparently used only a small trusted handful of them. I concur with my previous selfs thinking. :P My general experiance with FSX has been that the best course is to choose carefully what you really need to get an experiance you can be happy with, and dont overdo it, Ie buying stuff just to stave off boredom. If you buy in a flurry of enthusiasm and install all at once, finding whats causing the problem (there will almost certainly be a problem) Is that much harder. Slow and steady wins the race. As for the post, I wish for the best while trying to keep as much of a grasp on reality as I can. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. August 15, 201213 yr Well I guess I look at it as, Flight may have ceased future development, but it certainly has not been abandoned. And that is a good thing, at least for now. It certainly could have been worse. Don B
August 15, 201213 yr For what it's worth, I think the best way to send a message to Microsoft concerning Flight is to keep flying it which in turn loads the server. Perhaps (wishful thinking) someone will take notice of the activity and have a "Hmmm" moment. I personally will not consider Flight "dead" until they deactivate the servers and we are left in the dark. Until then, I warm up their servers daily and hope the Flight users do the same. Thank you. August 15, 201213 yr i really don't get the point of the article. If Flight development has ceased, why spend the man hours and money on support for what small portion of Flight was released. Even if more people went in and bought the existing DLC, I don't see that adding up to much revenue, probably not even enough to justify the wages of the personal doing the support. I tried reading between all the lines, but no matter how bad i would love to see more DLC for Flight i saw no hint of continued development.. While I still enjoy Flight from time to time, I see it as dead in the water unless they can give us a definite on what we need to do to show some support to get development back. it would be so sweet if they added the rest of the world in DLC packs all of a sudden and somehow opened up the option for 3rd partys to produce some scenery and aircraft, i would be thrilled (and broke, LOL) Best, Michael KDFW
August 15, 201213 yr Nice guy. I appreciate his comments and continued communication, and am glad that he is with us. Thank, Loki! Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
August 16, 201213 yr Nice guy. I appreciate his comments and continued communication, and am glad that he is with us. Thank, Loki! +1. I am glad he is doing this, and I too will certainly continue enjoying what we do have with Flight! Don B
August 16, 201213 yr Author I think Loki's approach is spot on. Yes they've stopped development, but they needed to ditch Joshua Howard and now he's gone perhaps the shadow he was casting has shone light on the potential. Who knows, it'll all come down to cold hard cash and times are tough, Vancouver game studios are feeling it and I'm sure there are a complex set of issues, but there is still a flicker of light here and that might say something about Microsoft not ditching the whole product.
August 16, 201213 yr I bet there are lots of people on here and Steam who are just thinking `if only they communicated like this before' . Nice bit of background info though .
August 16, 201213 yr but there is still a flicker of light here and that might say something about Microsoft not ditching the whole product. Let's hope. My gut feeling is that this is not the end of the road.
August 16, 201213 yr Let's hope. My gut feeling is that this is not the end of the road. In a strange masochistic way I'm with you on that thought. Something doesn't feel right at how things are at the moment. My head is arguing with my heart and when that situation is prevalent the future for me is uncertain.
August 16, 201213 yr They never ditched the product, they just stopped active development. Support will continue.
August 16, 201213 yr Commercial Member They never ditched the product, they just stopped active development. Support will continue. Exactly. Nothing unusual here, it's standard practice with all kinds of games that have a lot of online content to continue supporting them for some years even after all development has stopped and sales gone down.
