August 24, 201213 yr Now, here is the tricky part: You've got to learn how to configure your CFG for it to make it work perfectly ...You've got to learn the skills how to increase or decrease the lights intensity. NOT AN EASY TASK However, once you learn it, your a/c will look awsome...true to life! I'm just not interested spending hours changing numbers around and lines of code just to make their product look like it should. They should have included an easy interface. I can live without the product. AJ Pongress

August 24, 201213 yr Thank you Paul, I always thought adding lights to MTX a/c is impossible. Luckily I was wrong :) I'll try it now. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
August 24, 201213 yr Unless you're flying in foggy conditions, Shockwave lights are completely unrealistic compared to what we see in the real world. Yup. Like I said, the main issue is that the lights are overdone. I am currently messing around with trying to make 3d lights of my own (to suit my tastes), but it is VERY difficult. If anything comes out of it, I'll probably upload the effects to the library...But as of now, the only results have been a crashed sim. Total Distance Flown: 65,141.138 Nautical Miles (In reality-------I don't have THAT much time to waste on FSX).

August 24, 201213 yr I've fallen out of love a little with these lights. They are OK on some aircraft, but on others, like the Carenado Caravan, they are rediculously bright and IMO spoil the whole effect. I think it was a good effort, but I mainly dislike the strobes. While realistically coloured, they *can* be super-bright. Like others have said before, the lights are realistic, but (generally speaking) only in clouds (or smog :P ). August 24, 201213 yr I'm surprised that the guys at A2A haven't taken on board a lot of the community's comments and developed an update to address these quirks that so many simmers seem to share. August 24, 201213 yr I guess they lost interest? That can happen. Or they are working on a new product. Or they simply don't agree with the "quirks". I mean, there are still plenty of people who seem to be happy...An update/ expansion/ improvement like with REX would be nice. August 24, 201213 yr Learning the process may take an hour or two, but that's about it. Once you have the needed knowledge, it becomes much easier and quicker with practice. Kind of like brain surgery. As to whether they're too bright in fog, rain, sleet, hail (no they are not employed by the Post Office Department), that's a matter of choice. They look much better, IM (not so) HO. When I fly an airplane, it is equipped with Shockwave Lights. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.

May 31, 201511 yr Its amazingly hard to find before and after screenshots of this addon. It claims to do a lot more than just the headlight landing lights but I can't find any screens or videos showing whats changed. All I see are brighter glowing headlights. For $17 I'd like to choose wisely since I really don't fly that much at night. Plus no mention of a frame rate hit if any. I posted a series of shots of a converted Carenado Amphib, and the Grunman Goose, in the Screenshot Forum. Also...in the Steve's Fixer for DX10 Forum, there is a post myself..with before and after on the stock, default Mooney. Most impressive transformation. I had initial troubles, but upgrading the product for free over at A2A, was the solution. Hope this helps. I'm surprised that the guys at A2A haven't taken on board a lot of the community's comments and developed an update to address these quirks that so many simmers seem to share. They have v 1.2a out...with added features, intensities, glows, halogen, stuff for the 1940's etc. You can upgrade your purchased version for free.
June 1, 201511 yr You can always tell when a man's FSX/FSX-SE/P3D is working well. They have nothing to tweak so they discover/re-discover REDUX lights! You got me Ses! I dug out and updated my copy, started in on it....Then I remembered all the faffing about and made a tactical retreat. The World is divided into two groups. Actually, I am a very late Shockwave game player. In fact...uh..er..I didn't even know what that was. I kept seeing Shockwave lights in the Steve's fixer upper...for conversion...but did the 'duh' thing regarding it. I then was rampaging with the ORBX sale..and found the A2A program, when I decided to see what A2A offerings there were. Well..that is how I finally found out, what Steve's fixer upper dooper...was referencing. I bought the thing...had one gas-attack at the start...but it has been simply wonderful ever since. I now would not fly any plane, not 'Shockwaved'ed'...lol. It is that good! I know that you have to play around with the two .cfg files...but nothing comes free, or easy. Once you have your plane shocked to death....nothing beats those lights for a night scene. I really like the airport treatment,as well....wow is the word, Ron...wow is the word! Get back into the fray...grab a bottle of brew...and get back typing those numbers...lol! Cheers! Mitch
June 1, 201511 yr Moderator I think these lights are cool looking but unrealistic since on regular days with not a lot of moisture in the air, you can really see light cones. If A2A made these lights that would only turn on or be triggered my the appropriate atmospheric conditions, then I'd consider getting it. Otherwise it would be a hassle to manually turn then on or off depending on what type of weather you're going to be flying in. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
