Are You the only flight sim enthusiast/addict in your home?

It's a bit sad that we have to keep our hobby to ourselves.

Try being in my line of work, if you ever mentioned you were a simmer you'd get laughed out of the cockpit...

That awkward moment when you see your girlfriend being asked about the hobbies of her boyfriend and only stating the two 'material' ones, leaving out the sim thing completely. Until that day, I didn't know it was that bad.

It took me at least a short GA route to recover from the shock.

But you flew to Paro, so you rule them all now.

Incredible! I must have the most understandig gf ever: she doesn't have to do anything with simming, or even computers really apart from surfing a bit and facebook.

Yet, she will never hide it from others neither will I. She also says its ok for me to buy addons, hardware, etc, because she knows how much my Katana 2hr flight has costed and if I didn't have this, I would want the other thing.

She knows how to keep the lion tamed ;-)

Beside that, I don't have or know anyone in my vicinity doing simming or even knowing that much about computers and flight simulation.

My friends and coworkers will listen to me yabbing about it, and even look at the shots and my hardware, but that's about it! The most interesting thing is actually my 9x 120mm fan radiator mounted on my computer! ;-)

Just me, but my four year old likes to play passenger, and my one year old instinctively uses the yoke.

Here's me on another hobby, meeting with other flight sim fans. I hate crowded marathons!

In case you wonder, yes, I've won. B)

My wife has no interest whatsoever in FS. Overall though she's happy for me to do my thing. It keeps me out of her way; she does quite a lot of her work at home, and overall I think she sees it as something that keeps me out of the pub ;-) I get a little more hassle about going to the football (Legia Warszawa) - because that usually involves a post match pint or two ;-)

Quite a few of my friends have shown genuine interest though. But overall it's just one of many hobbies I have, and more of a winter one than a summer one to be honest.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Agree with that. I hardly fly at all in Summer, although 2012 was an exception the Summer was so foul here in Ireland.

I've been over the limit when virtual flying on a few occasions. :drinks:

You can say that again, wettest July on record.... I think I've logged more FS and Avsim hours this summer than any period before, hopefully we'll have a nice September, but based on Today's weather that's not looking all that likely... <_<

We've had a great summer in Poland this year :-) Glad to see you Irish lads enjoying yourself over here during Euro 2012 :-)

Erm let me think:

Girlfriend - no chance, I think she might have asked to play it once and I nearly passed out.

Baby - well I'm sure he's interested and loves it but he has a funny way of showing it by dribbling all over the keyboard.

Cat - used to pretend he was cabin crew and thought he liked it until he walked across the keyboard whilst holding for take off, retracting the flaps fully and essentially trying to kill me in my virtual world....

I think she sees it as something that keeps me out of the pub ;-)

Very true. Flight Sim guys are a good catch because at least the girls know where we are. I go to the pub once or twice a month now so not very often. I'd rather spend my money on other things, if one night at the pub costs about $50 that could also pay for a good FSX Addon.

I forgot about the pets. We have 2 dogs and one of them likes to squeeze herself between my ankles when my feet are on the rudder pedals, especially when I am trying to land. The movement of my ankles give her a bit of a belly rub so she likes that.

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

Same here, totally forgot about pets, my dog loves the rudder pedals, and will crawl up on them to try and get on my lap, not usually a problem in flight, but can cause a problem with delta braking while taxiing, and then sometimes when he is on my lap, his size can "Restrict" the range of motion of my yoke...

We are not doing very well with this, are we? :P

Perhaps the question should have been "Does anyone in your household play Farmville/Angry Birds?"

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

My wife actually, no lie, watches videos on makeup, hair products and how to apply them. One night I flew online from KMIA to KLAX in my MD-11 and when I got done she was still doing the YouTube makeup thing. Wow.
