September 10, 201213 yr Back in FS9, FlyTampa's KSAN scenery was one of my favorite places to fly in to. To my knowledge, there's no high quality KSAN for FSX available. There used to be a new developer which seemed to be close to release with what seemed to be a good quality scenery, but they vanished. I know there's something available on Simmarket, but looking at the screenshots, I don't consider it to be FSX-worthy. Why does no high-end developer take a look at KSAN (and surrounding)? I'm talking about FlyTampa, FSDT, FlightBeam, Aerosoft... Would be nice to hear some reasons and opinions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Regards, Frank van der Werff
September 10, 201213 yr There is a freeware scenery over at avsim.su. It ain't high quality as you can expect from the developers you mentioned above, but it sure is better than default. I'll go there in a few minutes, and post some screenshots, so you can judge, if it's worth downloading it or not. Regards, Flo Florian
September 10, 201213 yr I was thinking the same. September 10, 201213 yr I was thinking the same. Has anyone reviewed this payware version for FSX? http://www.3-dev.com/ That's the one, Frank was referring to. Doesn't look good to me, I prefer the freeware version, because it adds what makes KSAN so special: the high buildings on approach to RWY27. Btw, here are the screenshots (as I said, it's not high quality, but it's better than default, and IMHO even better than that payware scenery): Regards, Flo EDIT: I just recognised, that there is no night lighting for the buildings available. I've never purchased from LatinVFR, but if they prove to be a viable devloper, I surely will purchase the KSAN X scenery!
September 11, 201213 yr I do a lot of FS flights in Latin America, and they have done really well recreating major Latin American airports, as well as KMIA and KEYW. They get better with each release. September 11, 201213 yr I am sorry but Latin Vfr does sloppy job of airports. Thai creations of Asia have done much much better than Latin Vfr. Wish someone like Fly Tampa or Aerosoft or Flight beam or FSDT would take this one up. I want San Diego too...but I want some thing thats decently good. I have bought Latin VFRs other addons. They are bad...sloppy. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
September 11, 201213 yr Good news but I wish they would hurry up with the KMIA service pack to improve performance. Here is what Ricardo told me on his forum:"Hi Luis, I am making an announcement on the upcoming plans. About the KMIA update I think I will postpone for after the release of the new scenery, the KMIA update is a long list of things I must change and addition, its going to take me at least a month to correct and add many things so probably this will be the last thing I do in the year, so by December (the anniversary of the KMIA release) I will have 1.2 ready." September 11, 201213 yr what about Glenn Johnson's freeware KSAN? http://gjsceneries.weebly.com/ his KLAX is pretty good
September 11, 201213 yr Author Latin VFR is taking on KSAN! It was announced today. Hopefully will see it in a couple of months. http://www.flycay.com/forums/showthread.php?4759-LatinVFR-announces-San-Diego-CA-KSAN-for-FSX-and-FS2004 Although not up there with FT and FSDT, I'm very glad to hear this. Will take a look at the mentioned freeware versions. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Regards, Frank van der Werff
September 11, 201213 yr Glenn's version of KSAN is excellent freeware IMO. I loved spotting at KSAN while visiting So Cal with my wife a couple years back. Agree that it is even cooler at night>>> https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Q9XSJallppflWvxN-kPxqNMTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink Al Stiff
September 11, 201213 yr as I said, it's not high quality, but it's better than default, and IMHO even better than that payware scenery That assumption is not based on something. Do you even have our scenery before comparing it? Sagga Toure
September 11, 201213 yr That assumption is not based on something. Well, THAT assumption isn't based on anything. Mine is based on the screenshots over at simmarket, and they don't totally convince me to buy it, to be honest (maybe I'm just spoiled by other developers). But what makes me think that the freeware version is superior is the fact that for KSAN apporach you really need the high rise buildings on the left of the approach path to RWY27, and those aren't included in your scenery - or at least your screenshots don't show them nor are they mentioned in the text. I wouldn't either buy a Kai Tak scenery that only covers the airport itself, but omits the buildings around the checkerboard hill. If the obsatcles on approach were depicted in your scenery, at least as good as in the freeware version, I'd probably buy it, though. Best Regards, Flo Florian
