Need New weather?

Featured Replies

I decided to get Opus to try it out because I had only been using RexE as an engine and a change had to be made because it just wasn't cutting it. It was a toss up between Opus and AS, and I'm very glad I went with Opus. Overcast actually means overcast - I set my NGX down at BWI when there were thunderstorms rolling in the other night, and sure enough, there were actually clouds in the sky when it was raining and lightening! No more full moon and stars in the sky with rain and thunder! The flights I've flown have had no stutters or jumps like Rex had when it loaded the weather data, and everything so far has been great. Very happy with this add-on.

How are you guys finding Opus to deal with SAT/TAT at high altitudes and wind aloft? My SAT given by Opus has been much higher than what AS gave me (Opus: -33C, AS: -55C).

We haven't added SAT upper altitude targets yet but will be doing so in the next week or so, then your SATs should behave themselves. The TAT is all down to FSX though.

Great! Once SAT is more accurate, so will TAT.

Meanwhile, I wish I could use Opus for below FL180 and AS for above. No doubt that Opus has much better weather depiction.

Is the price $ 45 ? More than half the price of NGX ?

Too much for me for an addon.

No no no. NGX is almost twice the price of Opus!

At least i've paid 75 bucks for it :)

Let me try to put that into perspective for you...

Bloody heck!!!! You mean I can get an complete reference quality simulation of a Boeing 737 for less then $100 bucks? Your joking! Thats less then a half decent weather engine and texture engine, three 'mega' airports that arn't, or four mediocre GA aircraft that you fly once and forget.

Paul Smith.

Just when you think "it can't get any better than this"... and then I went ahead and got Opus today..

Low visibility procedures in effect in Oslo earlier this evening. And that's what I got.

I can tell you it was WELL worth 45 bucks just for that single CAT III ILS approach I managed to fly today. :P

I have just two flights put into it so far but SAT was -62C @ FL380 enroute ENTC-ENGM.

It's funny. I did a flight today and the SAT was perfect to the forecast.

I have no doubt about your statements, Opus maybe is cool and well supported but to me the price is too high for another weather addon.

Just to have a real feedback, could anyone of you please post 2-3 screenshots where it is clear the difference between playing with or without Opus ? It would be interesting to see a double screen, left side without Opus and right side with.

This is intended to be a simple request of comparison screens, it's not a polemic question at all
