Imaginesim KATL 2012 version released for FS9

Featured Replies

You probably all saw the announcement but I thought I'd make sure you get the word by posting something here. I hope as many of you as possible will support this FS9 release. Imaginesim has improved their products enormously over the past couple of years - their recent KDEN is excellent. There's a free trial version of KATL so there's nothing to lose by checking it out. Combine this with the Megacity Atlanta photo scenery and we have a winner! YEA! FS9 continues to attract some developers so let's show our support....

Cheers

Great news, especially that there's an FS9 version released. Even though I now have a new PC on order, I'm still planning on installing my extensive FS9 virtual world on it. This new KATL should run very well!

Got it. Very well done. Easy on the frames as well. Well worth the purchase price IMHO. Long live FS9!!

I will be getting this soon. I have the old version so I will upgrade to the newer version.

It is definitely worth having. Their best product by far - and KDEN was excellent and hard to beat. One thing that really impressed me is the way it fits seamlessly into the Megacity Atlanta scenery. I don't know if this was deliberate or if they were both using the same satellite data, but freeways etc match perfectly. You may want to add mips to the parking lot textures - there's a lot of shimmering there but everything else is rock solid

It really is a very well done scenery - big improvement on their 2008 version.

Maybe they could look at re-vamping their old KEWR scenery to a similar standard? That would be nice!

Are Singapore and New Delhi done to that level of detail? If so I could see myself picking up a few of their sceneries and this comment below from their website has me somewhat cautiously optimistic about KEWR...

Next up will be the FSX version of KATL Atlanta, due October. Then we are re-visiting all of our airports to try and address all of the niggles, bugs and issues that have been reported these last six months. After that we're planning further new versions of our older airports.

Edited to change there to the correct their as is it is their's not over there ;)

G'day folks.

In the news pages of the July/August edition of "Airports of the World" magazine it is reported that on May 16 the new Maynard H Jackson International terminal at KATL was opened. Concourse F (12 gates) is a modern 'swoopy' building totally unlike existing structures.

I am interested to learn whether Imagine Sim have incoporated this into their upgraded scenery. 'Fraid I can't see it from the screenshots. Care to comment?

No need. Just seen a screenshot at AirDailyX which confirms the new terminal is indeed included.

I must say I'm also pleased with the updated scenery. I'm a pilot with Delta Virtual and KATL is my home base. It's nice to be able to fly out of the F gates. Very well done and thank you Imagine Simulation for recognizing the continued demand for FS9 products. Over 40% of my airline's September flights have been flow with FS9 - it's still alive and well.

Has anyone else got a few dramas with RWY 10, the elevation seems to be a bit messed up. Could be a conflict with my FSGenesis mesh?

Otherwise, looks good!

Cheers, SLuggy

I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?

I'm going to have to go back to work if this keeps up. It would probably shock me to see the value of my FS9. Being married, I better not go there.

No worries Bill. Just remember that if you weren't spending all that money on FS9 you'd be wasting it on silly stuff like food, paying the mortgage etc.

Sluggy - I did have a problem when I was first exploring the scenery. I use the R22 to check out new sceneries and there was one area where there was an elevation problem though it was not on a runway as I recall. I don't remember where it was and haven't been able to replicate it. And when I did my reinstall, I chose not to install my FS Genesis mesh so it probably isn't that

Ian

Ian, what was your reasoning for not re-installing the FSGenesis mesh? Just curious.

I really struggled over this one as I have invested a lot of money in these mesh addons. I have purchased almost every product FSG has released for FS9. Overall, I think they add tremendously to the sim but with some of my addons that are designed for the default mesh, they create problems.

Many of my favorite addons have their own custom mesh so I decided to only reinstall the FSG mesh in areas where I know there are no conflicts with any airports I regularly use or clashes with coastlines etc. So to be accurate, I have reinstalled some of them - but I am holding off on most of them.

I hope nobody takes this as a criticism of FSG - they provide an excellent product for a very fair price. It was a judgment call I made - and I may still reinstall more of them over time. I am still in the process of reinstalling stuff that I had in my old set up so it's a "work in progress."
