September 29, 201213 yr What you say makes a lot of sense. I've wondered about some of the custom meshes for addons. I too have a ton of FSG meshes and have on occasion had minor problems. Thanks for the input. Bill W.
September 29, 201213 yr Author This is one of those situations where you wish there was some kind of coordination between the developers. If I knew that I could buy a product that would upgrade mesh and landclass for a region and that it was completely compatible with all of the known addon sceneries, I would snap it up in an instant. An example of that kind of complete product is the awesome Flight Zone series for Portland Oregon and Providence RI. But when you see rivers running vertically up hills and sophisticated airport sceneries sitting on a ridiculous plateau it really detracts from the experience of the sim.
September 29, 201213 yr I fully agree. I have heard of some people using flatten scripts to fix the problem, but I'm not into the programming enough to do so. Also, I'm not sure that always works.
September 29, 201213 yr Author Ditto. It might be nice if someone would produce a utility that would allow the average user to handle issues that
September 29, 201213 yr Guys I seem to recall Pilots, the people who produce the Global Mesh series, include a utility (?) with their current products which flattens all existing airports. I have their 2008 mesh and really can't afford to upgrade (rather buy new airports) and its been a couple of years since I read their promo spiel which is why I am hazy about it.
September 30, 201213 yr I noticed they have a demo version. How long does it run? Is it the full version minus the activation? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
September 30, 201213 yr FSGlobal 2010 does have a utility to fix errors and looks like a solid package. Its 25gigs and costs 91.51 USD at a popular retail site.
September 30, 201213 yr Morn'n Folks, How is the new airport with parallel traffic... Does it handle AI well ??? Not to hijack this thread but how does FS Global compare to FS Genesis ??? I've seen the FS Global - but - I had always thought that it was for FSX only... Does a single purchase of FS Global cover both FSX and FS9 ??? I've been an FS Genesis fan for many years but I have encountered some regions with serious issue... Eastern Colorado comes to mind - there was a huge area where it was nothing but lakes on top of 1000 foot spires as far as the eye could see... Overall though - it did enhance FS9 significantly... Regards, Scott
September 30, 201213 yr i'm like you, Scott. I have always used FSG, but had some strange issues.I didn't read closely enough to notice if the purchase price was for both sims. I typically fly in North America and Europe so I didn't care if I had Asia, Now that I'm retired, I might re-think that. I have no experience with FSGlobal myself.
October 1, 201213 yr Nice demo (try before purchase) from ImagineSim KATL (FS 2004). KATL is one of my favorite airports. Nice (honest) review (D'Andre Newman) http://airdailyx.blogspot.com/2012/09/hartsfield-jackson-atlanta-our-own.html I purchased it and must say Imaginesim did a great job on KATL. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
October 1, 201213 yr Hi! Am engaging in yet another (probably futile!) attempt to rein in my FS9 spending and have been looking at the screenshots of the new KATL and comparing them with the original version of Imaginesim KATL which I have installed. I have to say I cannot see a huge difference other than perhaps increased apron autogen equipment in the new version and the presence of the new terminal. Although Imaginesim are to be applauded for continuing to support FS9 with quality releases, I need to ask those who have replaced the previous Imaginesim version with this one, is this really worth the price of the upgraded version (no discount available for purchasers of the previous version with Imaginesim, unlike some other developers such as UK Extreme or FlyTampa!) as it is relatively expensive? Bill
October 1, 201213 yr Thanks for the notice on this- I personally did not know they had released this. Eric Tomlin Flight Line Simulations www.FlightLineSimulations.com
