October 3, 201213 yr Okay, so everyone says that an iPad is the best for having the FMC on. But, I saw this on VATSIM's Facebook group today: http://www.mimomonitors.com/ These are USB monitors, so they don't use a VGA or DVI slot. Also, they're a lot cheaper than iPads. October 3, 201213 yr How do you get it on the iPad? Theres an app called air display which allows it to become an extra monitor over your wifi network. Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."

October 3, 201213 yr Absolutely Yes-Go... Although I don't think they sell those yet in the country I live. Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931
October 3, 201213 yr I got my iPad 3 a few weeks back for real world flying, this looks like a cool idea however I'd rather use an FMC modelled into the VC. That app looks decent! (AirDisplay) - Luke Pabari
October 3, 201213 yr Cool looking monitor! I would go for the Ipad personally. (If your looking for an external FMC alternative). Ipad can be used for many different functions and not limited to just a display for FSX. Ipad's usually go for 250 - 300$. In Canada anyway.. and can be put to good use with all the apps. Cool product though! Sante Sottile

October 3, 201213 yr Author How do you get it on the iPad? Theres an app called air display which allows it to become an extra monitor over your wifi network. I think Ian was talking about the mini display. The mini display acts like a second monitor to your computer, using a USB connection instead of the regular VGA or DVI connection. That is why the software must support it so that's why it doesn't work on Mac OS X. Edited October 3, 201213 yr by linux731 i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
October 3, 201213 yr I figured if you're going to go all out to have a realistic rendition of the cockpit, you should do so all the way with hardware that will last. I'm planning to get the FDS FMC/CDU which I've only heard positive things about. Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
October 3, 201213 yr My question is, whether using a USB monitor or tablet and AirDisplay, is there a FPS hit? I started out using an additional VGA monitor connected to my FS PC's onboard video card, which works alongside the powerhouse graphics card. Even though it wasn't used for anything remotely graphical (I used it exclusively for the ATC chat window), merely having the slower graphics interface active gave a 10fps hit. Switching to a config with monitors connected solely to the faster graphics card gave an immediate and vast performance boost. My gut feeling is that a USB or virtual networked graphics interface are going to be slower than a proper hardware card. Anyone got any practical experience?
