October 11, 201213 yr Hey guys, just looking at what types of frames I will be getting in the following heavy FPS on FS2004, with Full AI traffic, addon sceneries etc. New York City area, KLGA, KEWR, KJFK, Atlanta, Chicago, LAX (San Fransisco), East Coast. I am upgrading my current 5 year old system to this and I am finally ready for smooth flying! No more laggy frames!!! This is my new system: 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz (Will Over-clock to mid 4.0's) 16GB DDR3 RAM 1TB HDD, 2x 1GB ATI Radeon HD 7750, Liquid Cooling, Blu-ray ROM/DVDRW, 700W PSU Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Thanks guys
October 11, 201213 yr You know what they say, there's no kill like overkill. Enjoy your new system. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
October 11, 201213 yr With an Intel i7 you would have been better off with two of the new 6 series of EVGA cards..Non the less..You should have no issues running FSX..Let alone FS9... Am I supposed to put my overly priced and powered computer specs here? Sorry, I must have no tolerance for idiots who do that. So when's the PMDG 777x gonna' be released? Sorry you got your hopes up..But hey..Look on the bright side...It's not for FSX.. -Sincerely, Shawn O.
October 11, 201213 yr you can run FSX really well on that system with some CFG tweaks or using FSPS Xtreme FSX PC V2, once you use the Virtual Cockpits in FSX it will be hard to go back to FS2004.
October 11, 201213 yr I guess I should expand on what I said. Even with a system like that, you might still have to make modest sacrifices in FSX to achieve silky frames. I have little doubt though that in FS9 you'd get 50+ FPS anywhere, with any addons.
October 11, 201213 yr Author Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback, looking forward to flying EVERYWHERE now in FS, to all of my favorite airports, like KEWR, KJFK, KORD With full AI
October 11, 201213 yr Author Also, I would rather stick with FS2004, being that I have invested so much money in FS2004 with addons, and also my FS2004 is so full of addons, it looks like FSX And I would rather have smooth flying as well
October 11, 201213 yr Congrats on the system. You should have zero problem running FS9. If I got a new computer, I would still stick with FS9 as well! Blue skies, Steven
October 12, 201213 yr Also, I would rather stick with FS2004, being that I have invested so much money in FS2004 with addons, and also my FS2004 is so full of addons, it looks like FSX And I would rather have smooth flying as well It's a mantra I preach also... although I try to make my FS9.5 NOT look like FSX - especially the plastic water!Your machine is of course, hopelessly over-specced for FS9, which won't even know the second card exists. But I do wonder, after a time, whether it will manage to slow down a tad when it's been loaded with all those goodies that don't necessarily talk to each other... I found 6fps (Normally 30-60) the other day with a rather energetic Active Sky storm over Tolmachevo, and some custom AI. Luckily I keep a vanilla sim handy to bring me back to reality. Happy flying with that monster!
October 12, 201213 yr Agree you should give FSX a try while keeping FS9. I have 3770K as well and overclocked it to 4.8GHz. My primary sim has since changed to FSX! FS9 is for AI spotting purpose now. This is my new system: 3rd generation Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz (Will Over-clock to mid 4.0's) 16GB DDR3 RAM 1TB HDD, 2x 1GB ATI Radeon HD 7750, Liquid Cooling, Blu-ray ROM/DVDRW, 700W PSU Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Thanks guys Danny F
October 12, 201213 yr Dudeeeeee....Give this guy a break, he didnt ask any suggestions what MSFS platform he should use after upgrade, the fact that he ended in this forum shows us he is a stubborn fs9er just like most of old timers here ha! but I agreeee.... Running FS9 with that system is like flying B 24 with CFM56.. you may want to at least, try FSX BUT keep your fs9 as I have been witnessing many have come back home...
October 13, 201213 yr Hi Gentlemen and Ladies, I agree ... That should fly anything in FS9 beautifully. Having said that and seeing comments about going to FSX, again, it should fly that too. I do not know what it is about FSX ie Memory CPU usage or Graphics but I have never been able to fly FSX with my system. FS9 is absolutely excellent with frame rates 70 - 80 FPS even on the ground. Mt system is an MSI x68 GD80 pro mb 8gb RAM corei7 2600k CPU and 2 x ATI HD6970 (2GB) and 1 x HD 4870 (1GB) running 8 x aoc 19inch LCD monitors (1440 x 900 resolution) through a 1200 watt PSU As I said FS9 flies beautifully with this but FSX just goes back to Desktop as soon as I hit the "Fly Now" button. FSX has done this for four years now and through 3 major upgrades 2 copies of FSX Deluxe and 1 copy of FSX Gold. I have tried to resolve this through Microsoft who simply sent me back a list of things I should check (which, post check, changed nothing) and though many flight sim forums (all extremely helpful and enthusiastic but unable to resolve the issue.) I feel sure that the software is unable to handle the multiple monitors but cannot understand why the backward step from FS9 What I really seek is the information on the area which is deficient ie RAM, CPU or Graphics I add further that my graphics cards are at this stage not crossfired because of the age of monitors and the inputs to them ie VGA and DVI so I have to put three monitors each into the HD6970s and 2 into the 4870. I have all but given up on FSX and after four to five years of trying I have yet to fly FSX with a multi monitor set up and this is, of course, AFTER buying the Duke Turbo, Epic victory, Phenom and numerous other aircraft. I will keep all because my next buying splurge will be on 2 x triplehead2go s and crossfiring the two hd6970 cards. May well be a couple of years but I am determined to win this one somehow. In the meantime FS9 ..... WOW just love it By the way ... XPlane 10 does exactly the same thing as FSX Any other ideas? TonyC Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). RAM 32gb Corsair Vengeance (2x16) 3200mhz. 1 x Gigabyte Aorus GTX1080ti Extreme and a 1200watt PSU. 1 x 1tb SSD 3 x 240BG SSD and 4 x 2TB HDD OS Win 10 Pro 64bit. Simulators ... FS2004/P3Dv4.5/Xplane.DCS/Aeroflyfs2...MSFS to come for sure.
