November 4, 201213 yr Author Hello Not that impressed to be honest I don't expect everyone to love FTX's work.I still think it looks really good. we both like aerosoft,uk2000 and fsdt.since starting to use ftx scenery i don't think i could go back to anything else.i'm hoping uk2000 gatwick(amazing) will work with it. steve-0 REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
November 4, 201213 yr I saw the screenshots of London, and it looks good, but to be honest, due to them being so artistic, I find it hard to see how their London scenery actually looks like. All I see are just lots of pretty skies with some buildings... No clue whether it's better or not than VFR London which still is an amazingly detailed package. The other shots of general terrain do look very nice I must say. I like the textures they chose/made. They look very fitting for England. November 4, 201213 yr I think we have to bear in mind that VFR London covers a tiny area and the frame rate hit is high. In other FTX regions with Cities there has also been a performance drop on my machine but this is just part of the England package so we'll have to wait and see what actual users report? UK2000 Extreme London City was reviewed as having better frame rates than the Aerosoft version so my guess is that the FTX London and UK2K Ex London City will give the best results? geoff Geoff Brown
November 4, 201213 yr Author spot on geoff. london city is only a small part of a massive scenery area.I.m not expecting it to be photorealistic.just a good representation of it. if any of there other scenery areas is anything to go by ,this is going to be very very good. steve-0 REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett
November 4, 201213 yr Simmers that are more impressed with a systems manual may not care about this, but this looks like it will make England actually look like....England. November 4, 201213 yr I can't wait for this, I haven't been this eager for a new product since the NGX...
November 4, 201213 yr Hmm. I'm on the fence with this one. Whilst I adore their FTX AU and NA offerings, I find it difficult to find fault in those because they are places I have never been. As this one is of my home turf, I think I'd find it very difficult to fly round it without scrutinising every inch thinking "that's wrong... that's wrong... that's most definitely wrong..." which is inevitable given it is still ultimately based on a generic land class/autogen approach, albeit at a much higher resolution and at greater placement accuracy than default FSX scenery. I don't like the way the airport boundaries, roads and rivers don't blend with the underlying terrain. When it's a place I've never been it doesn't bother me because I'm never looking at it that closely trying to pick out familiar landmarks, but when it's an area I frequent in the real world I think I'd find those things a bit hard to swallow. For now I'm happy with VFR Gen X photo scenery, Earth Simulations' Treescapes and UK2000 airports. November 4, 201213 yr but this looks like it will make England actually look like....England. Hello GenX with Treescapes + UK2000 airports already does this. Landclass plus textures can never be truly accurate, only a general attempt to look like a particular area. Great if you do not live in the UK, not so great if you do and want an accurate representation.
November 4, 201213 yr I also am not to impressed after the latest comparison shots they made. The airport area didn't blend in the slightest with the outer scenery. It was kind harsh. Good scenery, then around the airport, hard corners with green green in changing textures. William Sequeira
November 4, 201213 yr I'm not that disappointed as mad dog, as this will definitely look better than default FSX scenery. I fully agree that full photoreal scenery including trees and buildings is the best solution, but this is probably the best between the worlds. Besides, it will simulate seasons, while photoreal doesn't. The airport area didn't blend in the slightest with the outer scenery. It was kind harsh. I agree, harsh. But isn't it actually airport developer's obligation to make it blend in? Why would ORBX have to make the airport blending in for the UK2000 airports?

Great if you do not live in the UK, not so great if you do and want an accurate representation. I live in Idaho and have been stunned by how well FTX has replicated the area. I was tempted to go with photo terrain in the U.K., but never did like the look of it down low or the lack of seasons, just to name a few. November 4, 201213 yr I live in Idaho and have been stunned by how well FTX has replicated the area Hello Can you see your street or house ? I agree, harsh. But isn't it actually airport developer's obligation to make it blend in? Why would ORBX have to make the airport blending in for the UK2000 airports? Hello Word Not Allowed The thing is, the FTX version of EGHF in the screenshot does not even blend in that well. UK2000 have no obligation to alter their product to blend in with a competitors product. But even without any modifications UK2000 are going to sell a lot of airports on the back of this scenery given that they have just about every airport and small airfield available already. The UK2000 EGHF in the last shot does not look too bad as it is.
