November 22, 201213 yr I don't know if PMDG ever does Sales for their products, but a nice discount for the MD11 would be very nice, it's an airplane I love, but for the 79 dollars price tag it's so out of my reach. A Sale would make it sell some extra copies, Win Win situation for PMDG and their costumers, and I don't think anyone would be angry the MD11 has a lower price after more than 2 years from being released. November 22, 201213 yr Author That's better, but still too much for my pocket. I'm saving money for several addons that are about to get launched, but a MD11 would be great while a wait =p Alexis Mefano
November 22, 201213 yr If that $60.00 include both FSX and FS9 - PMDG has a deal - if not - too steep for my wallet - and - I do purchase a significant amount of add-ons... Regards, Scott

November 22, 201213 yr best look for the box version somewhere and use the store discount if availabe.
November 23, 201213 yr Author Box is not available in many countries, including Brazil. What does PMDG have to lose? I have no idea how much MD11s they sell nowadays, but imagine 10X as much as that, should cover easily the gap because of the lower price. Games does this so well nowadays, a game 6 months later is at least half it's price, I'm not saying it should be the same here, but more than 2 years later an addon should become more affordable, people always want the latest, but when the not so new, but still incredible, is at a nice price, they may decide it's better to get 2 older cheaper than one of the newer. November 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member The MD-11 is the only aircraft PMDG sell worth the $$$ they charge (and don't forget that it INCLUDES the Freighter - that was a PAID extra for the 747). Get it - it's worth it. If you leave it, you'll only kick yourself later. Best regards, Robin.
November 23, 201213 yr Author Yeah. if it wasn't for a certain Addon you seem to be Beta Testing, That would be the case =p I'm a very happy 737NGX user, and the MD11 is such a Long Hauler, I wouldn't be flying it as much as a smaller Jet, so without a discount I may never have it in my Hangar :( Alexis Mefano
November 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member It's not unrealistic to fly it on short routes. I often take a full domestic load (409 passengers) and freight on 30 min flights. The real thing does this as well. It will often do a 30 min flight, then a 12 hour flight, then 2 x 30 min flights, then back again long-haul, then another 30 min flight. The 747 domestic in East Asia typically only flies for 1 to 4 hours. It seems a large aircraft for short-haul ops, but think of the capacity! One 747 is worth 4 regional jets, but with 1/4 the crew costs and maintenance. Best regards, Robin.
November 23, 201213 yr I fly 3/4 of my routes with the MD-11 and rarely fly more than 2 hour routes. The aircraft is amazing. I do agree with a price drop there would be a lot more people purchasing it. I have a few friends who would love to get the MD-11 but its just too expensive for them. I know I spent more than I should on one thing for the sim but it sure has kept me fascinated! / CPU: Intel i7-9700K @4.9 / RAM: 32GB G.Skill 3200 / GPU: RTX 4080 16GB / Freight Pilot

I would buy the md11 but since i have the PMDG 737 I will wait for the 777 and take the path of least resistance as far as learning new material ZORAN
November 23, 201213 yr I'll just say that I've yet to see any of the A+ planes on sale,LEvel D, ifly,Mustang,so its not just PMDG. I honestly dont see the logic of keeping 20 people on the brink of buying vice just giving them a good push.
November 23, 201213 yr Author It's a new thing, Steam has introduced this concept of selling games with Huge discount not so long ago, in Brazil piracy used to be something I thought would never be controlled, but then Steam happened, suddenly we could buy games at a nice price, and better, their price was lowered as time went by, so a Game of THe Year didn't cost 59 dollars one year later, more like 29, so people slowly stopped downloading illegal and buying their favorite games on Steam and creating their collection. By last year some people had spent over one thousand dollars in games with Steam, that's Brazil, a few years ago that would be unthinkable. The response has been so good Steam has now started selling in our Currency, Reais, so this makes it even easier for everyone to buy their games, now I believe there's hope for Brazil to win the war against piracy. Just imagine the same with the FS Addon Industry. I can't say for sure because I don't have the numbers, and nobody says what their numbers are, but I believe it's possible to reduce piracy, but it has to be done smart, lowering 10 dollars for a two years old addon won't make people buy it. November 23, 201213 yr Well you are comparing dogs and horses here. While the most "games" like shooters or arcarde or whatever probably score higher sale numbers than FSX AddOns for a very limited number of users do. And once sale numbers drop at the most "games" the price will drop, and sale numbers eventually will increase. Now you can do some maths on this if you want however I will sum it up a little bit. (No actual numbers used, just a little bit of toughts) If you sell 30 MD-11s a month at 50 dollars, you have 1500 dollars. Now you starting a sale and three posibilties can happen: a) If you reduce price to 40 dollars sales will eventually grow to maybe 45 per month. Now, at the end of the month you have 1800 dollars. Well this would be good for the customers and the developer as both had something from it. b )However if you just sell 35 at the reduced price you would have 1400 dollars, and you earned 100 dollars less than you could have. c) If you sell 37 copies at the reduced price you have 1500 dollars. (Disregarding that you have to pay someone to change the website twice, to set a new price in the ecommerce System and whatever) Now in case a) and also c) a sale would make sense, however you can also have situation b ) which would be bad obviously. To expect what eventually will happen you have to know the sales number and do some markt research and also have some luck. As none of us knows the sale number of the PMDG products (which is good, that we don't know it) you can't even guess if it would be financially worth it to make a sale or not. And as long as it isn't worth it nobody would consider a sale. John Rubens
