My first post on this forum, and I'm already not impressed...

The signatures here on this forum are not crawled by search engines. For example, I've just gone and googled (also yahoo'd) my name exactly as it is in my signature. I've made over 500 posts on this forum, with my name on every one as a signature, and not one result (at least in the first 10 or so pages that I looked) had anything from Avsim on it. I then re-tried and searched my name with Avsim after it and all that came up was my essay contest entry from earlier this year. (Which I entered knowing that I was allowing Avsim to put my name with the entry)

Anyway, you're partially right.

Yea, but you already knew exactly what my signature says. I'm talking more from a standpoint of just knowing my name. I had to do a site-only search to find my posts with just using my name.

To the OP: I was referring directly to Avsim results of myself, not VatAware (where you got my minutes on the type) or my location (which I am 100 percent confident is not public). I've been very maticulous about what I've made public, and what I know is public. Of what I know is out there, I would not be afraid for an employer, or contracted investigator, to find. Again, I agree with Kyles last post. If your afraid of an prospective employer finding something, then it's probably not in your best interest to be employed by them.

Thanks!

Just updated my sig to make it uncrawlable - now there's a thought

nd yeah, Kyle (if I may call you by your name), according to the internet, I'm a pro photographer in England, a simmer in the US, a porn star, and various and other sundry items. Nothing I'm ashamed of that's really me, just stuff, the same as you and everyone else here.

You may. Better that than by my last name...

(Hold on, lemme change my shoes!)

Again, I see how your incident with the DMV could cause you to be hesitant, but first and last is very different from what you'd have at the DMV, which would be first, last, address and likely social.

This is how I did mine for Frugals World (Falcon 4.0) and Fighter Ops years ago. I like banners!

Kyle, you're probably right.

Thanks for a good laugh, Vladmir.

Hi, Nick:

Actually, all I used at first was your first and last name to find you. But, to concede your point, I knew it was you because it was sim-related. I'd left out any reference to any sim, sim airline, or forum. Your location is an assumption on my part in that there is a Nick Crate close to the airport identifier in your sig, but that may be because there is a huge real FedEx hub there. But, just like there's many with my name, there's also many Nick Crates!

I've nothing in my past that I'd be afraid that a potential employer would find, I just like to be careful.

Cheers.

BTW, I'm over my anger issues, my NGX is fixed, and I'm moving on to other things sim-related. Perhaps I'm taking some advice from a Russian friend...

Sorry to sound like a wanna-be moderator, but forum rules require you to use your full name to post here. Signature blocks are not crawlable and your name is really not unique enough to worry about. Google mine if you like and you will find that I have had many and varied personas, my favourite being the director of Woddy Woodpecker cartoons.

Hey mate!

Had the exact same problem ! The HUD Would just be blank no matter what I did Witt the settings in the FMS Everything it would be blank!

So what I did was re installed the pmdg 737

At first I thought it didn't work, but as I looked more at the HUD I sore a brightness display, and I turned the knob and all of a sudden the HUD display slowly appeared, as I adjusted more it fully came on! There it was the display it worked!

So maybe your settings have started your HUD in the low brightness where u can't see anything?

Secondly im a captain in the 737 NGX So we have the HUD! And on there is the clear feature!

So when your taxiing out for TO You can press the clear button on the centre pedistool where the HUD Settings are! So your settings may have gone wrong and as soon as u enter the flightdeck the HUD Is automatically in the clear mode, so it's not displaying the HUD Display? And it's just a clear HUD

My issue was a misplaced file. However, thanks for our comments; something else to keep an eye out for in the future.

Cheers!

Jack, am not sure what airline you are talking about, but Virgin Blue/Virgin Australia does NOT have HUD fitted.

I was going to say the same thing plus the grammar but thought better. Glad someone else caught that too.

ack, am not sure what airline you are talking about, but Virgin Blue/Virgin Australia does NOT have HUD fitted.

That's very interesting and useful to know. What about Qantas? I prefer not to use the HUD since I don't yet have sufficient knowledge and just like to try and land the aircraft.

I'm pretty sure Qantas does have them. I recall a video featuring one.

Randy Swofford

I am not sure about Qantas, I would be surprised if they do. The conditions in Australia are far more benign than anywhere else to warrant the cost of purchase, maintenance and training of the units.
