My sincere apologies to everyone from England

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago, before Orbx England was released, I posted (a few times) that I doubted if I would like the addon because imho England looks utterly boring with nothing but those small fields everywhere... I said things like England looking like default FSX landclass scenery in real life already so how could an Orbx rendition of that country be interesting?

Well... as some of you already anticipated... I was utterly wrong. I really love to fly above Orbx England, which has taken the throne from PNW, which was my favorite Orbx addon up to now. Together with OpusFSX real weather flying above England is a treat and utterly awesome instead of utterly boring. (That English weather may not be the best to live in but it's GREAT to virtually fly around in!)

So... my sincere apologies to everyone from England whom I have may offended with my ignorant remarks. Your country is lovely and it will be my FSX-home for quite some time! And my compliments to the new Orbx team who created a fabulous scenery addon. Bring on Wales and Scotland ASAP, please!

We can take it Jeroen. Although how anyone from the Netherlands can possibly think anywhere else in the world could be boring....

Well, you have to bear in mind ther's nothing like the "Red Light District"... Do you have that anywhere else in the World?

It's NP mate, I think you will love wales and Scotland, hills and mountains galore.

I think you should get some UK2000 airports there amazing, but as you love you GA flying and I wont talk about the Airbus you like  I really think you should look at

Doncaster/East Midlands/Liverpool and Bristol. None are to big and give great placers to fly to and from. Also they have a 3 for 2 sale on ATM.

Enjoy!

No question Orbx has finally made England flyable. Trouble now is that I can see I would have to buy all the VFR and UK2000 addons to make it come alive....not sure if that comes in under $1,000 or not.

Guess I better stick to paying my property taxes first.

Mmm, let me think. Yes, I'm pretty certain there are red light districts all over the world. But it's not the sort of thing you brag about! :P

I actually do not like the ORBX England one bit, I prefer Horizon with treescapes :)

Ooer! You'll probably be sent to the nasty place below now.

But I'll come with you. I bought it, flew around it and apart from the general look of it, wasn't overly impressed. A couple of SPs will no doubt make it how it was intended. Having said that, Horizon is 20 times worse.

IMHO of course.

Yes we have them all over England, usually at road junctions, they can be green or amber but normally red whenever I approach them.

All three Regions VFR airfields on offer for download from UK2000's own site currently about $115-120 and that works out at about $0.57c per field!!! They don't have ORBX's 3D grass and romping dogs but they are excellent and include major airports too. BTW IMHO the screenshots don't do the fields justice. At that price they're a no brainer and nice as ORBX's detailed fields are they're more expensive than UK2000 Airports, take ages to develop, and would cost Thousands of Dollars for as complete a coverage.

The UK2000 Xtreme Airports had a 3 for 2 offer on for Christmas and as the airports in lesser detail are in the VFR fields you can upgrade those as you want them. These have been through several upgrades too so you may want to wait for newer versions or new fields under development? At $55 for three that's about $18 each for some of the best reviewed UK airports out there and noted for good fps too. http://www.simflight.com/2012/05/27/articlereview-ultimate-city-london/

You'll still be able to pay your taxes too ....well $800 worth?!

BTW the UK2000 fields come with a selector tool that allows you to exclude fields you don't want or that you may have alternatives for. Check out Just Flights "Real Scenery Denham" and their "White Waltham" too. Both close to Heathrow (within the CTA) these are excellent and reasonably priced http://www.mutleysha.../ncm/denham.htm The portacabin behind the blister hanger in the screenshots used to be where I flew from several years ago. Sadly the recession has closed the main flying school and the GA activity there is a mere shadow of it's former levels. It is used for refuelling various emergency helicopters though so eggbeater jockeys should have it.

Looking forward to a service pack for FTX ENG to correct a few areas and hopefully fill in some major landmarks. Meanwhile I'll be exploring Misty Moorings.

Just for fun I check....by my conversions...approximately $320 CAN to purchase the lot.

Unfortunately, I am totally tapped out till after Christmas. Too bad actually.

Ha ha ...... I think I gave you some 'stick' for those comments Jeroen (and I am not even English! ... but I did live there for 11 years and did think you were missing something with your boring comments).

I am pleased you have seen the light, and I also am enjoying flying 50% FTX ENG (and 50% FTX PNW) at the moment.

....and good on you for having the honesty and integrity to say you got it wrong. I really respect that.

I went over to X-Plane

Did I say that?

Is that like being a cross-dresser?
