December 19, 201213 yr Has nothing to do with flight sim , I've said it before, but for your benefit; Hangar chat serves as a point on the forums for general discussions of many wide and ranging topics, none of which necessarily have to be related to flight sim. It is a place for gaining information, for giving your point of view and discovering others points of view. It is a place where people of this hobby can come and chat about whatever they so wish, so long as it remains civil, and doesn't break the terms of service. Regards, Rónán O Cadhain. Hangar chat does not have to be about flight sim, it is a place for socialisation and discussion on a range of topics, this is one topic that people wish to discuss and share their views on. It has remained respectful, and hence it has remained open. Personally, I think people who want gun control are exactly the opposite but let's agree to disagree. +1. I think if you don't feel the need for a gun on your person at all times to protect yourself from others, then you do have trust and faith in humanity, at least that'd be my take on it. Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
December 19, 201213 yr Whilst you all shout "2nd amendment", stay in denial that gun ownership has anything to do with the statistics and insist that guns have a reason other than killing things you STILL don't answer why most of the civilised world doesn't feel the need to own an arsenal in their home ? Have you ever stopped to think about that? I'd be asking how come these "foreigners" don't feel the need or the slightest desire to own a gun? What's wrong with my society that I feel that need? It's your country and your problem. You have systems in place to decide your own nations fate ...but you have sections of your society arming themselves against other sections, sections arming themselves against the very government your "revolution" put in place! Time for some reflection on putting your own house in order perhaps? The rest of us are too busy trying to do just that. On all my visits to various parts of the States I've met a bunch of friendly, polite and welcoming people. You are what you are because of that. Not home arsenals. Like I said before. Your call. geoff Geoff Brown
December 19, 201213 yr Geoff as politely as I can say it. Don't worry about my country. I don't worry how you want to run yours. You don't have to like it, understand it or want it it doesn't concern you. I don't mind discussing it but do not get into back handed jabs at my country. I've never belittled anyone here for thinking differently I'd appreciate the same. Randy Swofford
December 19, 201213 yr Commercial Member +1. I think if you don't feel the need for a gun on your person at all times to protect yourself from others, then you do have trust and faith in humanity, at least that'd be my take on it. Got to agree with this, although being a realist I have lost my faith in humanity long time ago anyway (and I don't feel like I would need a gun to protect myself, maybe if I lived in the US I would). Oh an f f*7%$ gun control. alot of good it did in England. I remember the story of the two 10 year olds who lured a toddler away from mum and bashed his brains in with a brick.! If you look at gun murder rates you can see England being significantly safer country than the US, so yes I think gun control has done a lot good there. Sure if people are desperate enough they will find ways to kill anyway, but many killings committed by guns are made under some extreme emotions and not rationally planned, and those can be often prevented by making access to guns harder. For example those two school shootings in here Finland, I doubt those two 18yo with severe mental problems would have really committed those acts if they had no guns, at least in this country just obtaining a gun illegally isn't that easy. Sure they could probably stabbed somebody or killed themselves at least, but sure not killed even nearly as many people as they did.
December 20, 201213 yr "so yes I think gun control has done a lot good there"........ are you sure it is not because there is a camera on every corner there ? AND guns are illegal... no way I want to live in a country like that,..... hell they got tv ##### there that want to check your house for a tv. to pay tv tax ....... I will live with what i have ... once again lock this thread ! please lets all move on It is a testemant to the wonderful people that are here on avsim that discourse has been so civil but please enough is enough

December 20, 201213 yr Who votes for Texas to secede from the Union? What? Who said anything like that? Is the conversation now degrading into fringe topics no one has even hinted at? Randy Swofford
December 20, 201213 yr The whole point of a forum is that anyone can have their say. If you don't want to read it you don't have to? BTW the "tv tax" is actually a licence fee. It funds the BBC. It was set up so that the Radio and later Television service in the UK could be funded without the influence of advertising. The "######'s" are merely checking that everyone pays their licence. If we had more "######'s" checking that corporations paid their fair share of tax we'd (that's ordinary joes like me) not be getting shafted by cut backs in services and welfare for those who really need it. Sadly our "wired CCTV" nation does not do much to stop crime. It often records it, less often helps catch perpetrators. Like anything else that's not working well here we discuss it, lobby our MP's etc. and things change. There are "revolutions" in the UK but they're slower and quieter than some. Never stop debating, never stifle opinion. Remember every one who agrees with you is not necessairly your friend, and every one who disagrees not necessarly your enemy. Geoff Geoff Brown
December 20, 201213 yr Who votes for Texas to secede from the Union? Do that again and you won't be participating in this topic. I for one am going crazy that this thread is still open !!!someone lock it already You have had your say on the subject and you are wearing it thin. Please do not post any more demands to close this thread. We'll close it when it is time to close it, or not at all.
December 20, 201213 yr Hell they got tv ##### there that want to check your house for a tv to pay tv tax. And? I'm sure your IRS checks your records to check you've paid all your taxes too, the same goes in every country. Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
