December 22, 201213 yr Great interview on Patent Trolls... http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505263_162-57560405/patent-trolls-how-some-say-theyre-hurting-u.s-economy/ I will support XP10 on principle Even if I never fly it I will be buying a copy this week out of support. Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
December 22, 201213 yr The US legal system seems to be tailored towards lawyers wanting to earn money, rather than protect its citizens from harm... Really feel sorry for Austin. These kinds of things can cripple small companies. Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
December 22, 201213 yr It's not so much the US legal system that is the problem, but its patents system which allows such patents to be registered. Once registered it's reasonable for the holders to seek royalties for their use. That's how the patent system works. Gerry Howard
December 22, 201213 yr Standing behind you Austin! Don't ever give up, give in or give over to these people! Kind regards,
December 22, 201213 yr I'm 100% with Austin, including my $$ contribution to the cause... well, actually it was more a $ contribution, but it was what I could really contribute with... December 22, 201213 yr That's a really good story to hear. Sounds like an average joe fighting back against the system and with his level of determination I hope he wins. December 22, 201213 yr Well, good for him! I really hate to see innovative companies financially drained by a parasitic company like Uniloc. Ric Richardson should be ashamed. He was once an innovator himself, after all. US patent laws are absolutely out dated for this computer/software age. The patent office surely can see it's folly in granting certain software patents. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
December 22, 201213 yr Moderator I find it incredible that an "idea" is allowed to be patented to begin with. Certainly the concept of "phoning home to validate a customer" existed long before UNILOC existed, much less any Android apps! Fr. OK, where I live patents and copyright systems are part of the law, not separated from it. I'm all for patents, but the patent should follow the inventor, not the smartass registering it. December 22, 201213 yr if you are asking whether I support Austin, then the answer to your question is yes. ^_^
December 22, 201213 yr Samuels said, "It's legal. Does that mean it's right? I don't think so." I agree, their should be some way of tossing these cases if the patent proves to be inactive. Also if these so called 'companies' actually spent that amount of time on a real contribution they would not only make a real salary but also contribute to the economy rather then hurting the economy. A better way to go home everyday and feel good about yourself contributing to something in this world rather then being labelled a 'troll' Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
December 22, 201213 yr I saw that interview and it irked the **** out of me. In the prior decade there was 140 infringement (?) cases but in the last year alone there was 2700. It's almost like he's helpless to these crooks, which is what they truly are. He doesn't have bottomless pockets to fight this but oh how I wish he did. Maybe someone will be smart enough to find a way to combat this new crime wave. Most likely it would have to be through legislation but we all know that money does the talking when it gets to that stage. jime James D. Edwards
