The VC is already nice with alot of details, FMCs + EHSI is part of the VC upgrade but I don't think they are overhauling it. If anything was lacking in terms of detail it would be more the external stuff. But for a plane with this systems depth and flown from the cockpit the VC is more important.

As for vertical navigation, I'm not sure on this CDU in real life it has that or not, or if it's a simplification. Maybe someone more knowledgable of the A300's can let us know?

I would hope it matches the real unit. If it does I'm fine with that, and lateral is more important for enabling me to fly RNAV procedures.

yes there are A300-600 flying around, but no B4's anymore. Channel Express and Air Contractors were the last one I think and they are gone.

I did a quick research and found a couple on airliners.net, the freighter versions anyway.

Solinair at Amsterdam in November, A300B4-203 (freighter).

DHL in July. According to Wikipedia DHL is operating 13 -203's but I'm not sure how up to date that is.

Also there are two Cargo flights in the air right now:

Oh yeah, apparently this bird is indeed still in cargo operation then.

This thread really made me want to fly A300 again, such a beautiful bird and also an Airbus.

Same as. I just hope the VC lighting is sorted!

Around CYYZ we see SATA and Air Transat coming and going with them still..(Transat has a pile of them)

Isn't SATA an A310-304? They don't have A300 and never did.

Air Transat is an A310 too. Beautiful planes

Exciting! I was worried that this thread was a necropost and I'm very happy to see that I was wrong.

Look at the FMC forum! Sim Check will suffer!

Look at the FMC forum! Sim Check will suffer!

I don't think they are going to "suffer", they have already said there is not enough money in it to be a viable business and it cost more to produce than they made back, plus the developer is working for another company rather than makign future products. The A300 product is as it is, and we have this last option to add an FMC.

This we need to be fully aware of before buying the FMC too, they are not there for the long term due to the above. So don't purchase the FMC in the hope of future improvements, look at the user feedback objectively and decide if you want to take it or leave it as it is when released.

If you really hate the night lighting, you might want to skip it. If you can live with that flaw, then it's up to you. I know I can. Sure it's not as nice as say the NGX, but it's the best wide body cargo airbus we have available to us so I'll take what I can get.

There is a fix for the night lighting. I forget where I got it but a google seach should turn it up.

I've got the fix. It doesn't help that much! All the night light switches at totally redundant. It's a **********! up that should not of been an issue in the first place!

Oh well. Lets see how this update of the FMC 'helps things'

it's the best wide body cargo airbus we have available to us so I'll take what I can get.

Indeed. A pretty good ship to be precise. True on the night lighting, not my favourite feature. But the rest is fun to fly and operate, right?
