December 23, 201213 yr The biggest companies in Europe (Air france, British Airways, Lufthansa) don't have ANY 737-800 WHY ?? They have thousands of planes and no 737-800 I want to make european flights with my NGX and i can't find any nice looking livery and who goes everywhere in europe.
December 23, 201213 yr Hmm, thats only just occured to me.. The only airline i see regular useing 737's is RyanAir. Regards Luke M
December 23, 201213 yr KLM uses the 737-800 as well. Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
December 23, 201213 yr So you found Air France doesn't have any 738 in its fleet, but you didn't find out any information about the fleet of AF's partner KLM? Well, they have 23 738's and 46 737NG's in total, including the large -900 model. Then there's KLM's daugther Transavia who solely flies 737-700 and -800's and the airlines belonging to the TUI group, like Arkefly, Jetairfly, TUIfly and Thomson Airways. And then, of course, there's Ryanair flying all over Europe with 737-800's only (nearly 300 of them!!), so I believe there's a lot of flying to do with the NGX in Europe! With kind regards, Kevin Schepers
December 23, 201213 yr Edit: I was feeling sorry for you Europeans as you claimed not to have any NG's. Now you've found some, my comment is irrelevant. December 23, 201213 yr Norwegian Air Shuttle, Scandinavian Airline System (SAS), Air Berlin... Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

December 23, 201213 yr Commercial Member Ryanair, Norwegian Air Shuttle, KLM, Thomson and its variants, Eurocypria, Scandinavian Airlines, Primera Scandinavia, Transavia, Air Berlin, Luxair, Air Europa, Corendon Airlines, Anadolujet, Pegasus Airlines, Sky Airlines, Sunexpress, Turkish Airlines All of these are major 737NG operators in Europe, probably I missed some and then there are many more 737 classic operators.
December 23, 201213 yr Have you heard about European Union. It is only natural that we tend to support our economy also by buing European aircraft. In my home country the local airlines have flown mainly European aircraft for years now and actually very few examples from Boeing. This is Airbus continent.
December 23, 201213 yr The fact is though somehow that in Europe Airbus prevails, and in US Boeing prevails. Didn't do any comparisons or searched for any, but that is the feeling I got. Goes for both short and long hauls. Am I right? Wouldn't surprise me if it's right, since Airbus is the European company and Boeing American... Hardly. As mentioned Ryanair alone has 200-300 737s. Norwegian also has plenty of 737s, and their future order is split 50/50 between Boeing and Airbus. In the US Virgin America and Spirit only fly A32Xs, and JetBlue, Frontier, and US Airways operate only the A32X in that size category (apart from some 737 classics being phased out by US Airways). United also has about 150 A319/320s. John-Alan Pascoe

In my home country the local airlines have flown mainly European aircraft for years now and actually very few examples from Boeing. This is Airbus continent. Yes I think both of these posts point to the reasons why there is a leniency towards Boeing aircraft in North America, and Airbus aircraft in Europe. As well as supporting 'local' manufacturing, there's the servicing / parts / representation aspects too. As I've understood it, there is very little difference in pricing between comaprable A320 and 737 products, therefore factors like local market support, government incentivisation (to buy locally), and a closer service & support network lead to most US airlines choosing Boeing and European airlines choosing Airbus. But as we've seen above, there are plenty of exceptions; plenty of European airlines using Boeing, and also in North America, US Airways and Air Canada use a lot of Airbus Equipment. I recall when British airline EasyJet disposed of their last 737-700s in 2010 and became a sole Airbus (A319/A320) operator, they cited local (Toulouse, France) service & support and training commonality as their primary reasons - rather than operating costs or any other financial factors.
December 23, 201213 yr Airbus offers better deals, that's about it. Much cheaper than Boeing, they offer FCOMs, cheaper maintenance due to contracts, etc. Plus, they're modern and economic. December 23, 201213 yr Nothing wrong with the 'bus, but the OP couldn't find an airline to fly his NGX with. I was worried any continental types would be failing to bond with this plane. Now there's about 100 airlines listed, I don't need to worry. Not being from the US or Europe, I'm neutral. So what does Qantas do? They've got a pretty good mix of airbus and boeing, with probably more on the boeing side (I probably should know - but i'm just going from memory from the fleet details in the inflight magazine). The 'buses never make it over my way, though. I'm flying a 717 and 767 tomorrow - though I think MD have more claim than Boeing to that first one. And Qantas used to use the awful BAE146 instead of the 717 round here...can't say I miss that!
