January 3, 201313 yr Trying to figure out what you mean by anomalies as ProATC has nothing to do with AS2012 I have seen in some ATC add-on issues when wind change significantly (two head-on landings is one of them). I think it is the default ATC from FSX. Thank You for provided information. I will hold purchasing, but will monitor the development for sure. Bartłomiej Ender
January 3, 201313 yr Can anyone tell me just how repetitive these loops are, or are they of long enough duration that it's not a problem? Whenever you have thousands of wav files representing ATC background and you fly for hours, you are eventually going to hear them again. My flights are normally less than 2 hours and I never hear any repetition. I use Real ATC for flying in the US and there are hundreds and hundreds of ATC wav files. Just for Center alone I have 449 files; for departure I have 1005 and for approach 335 files. There could be a problem with Tower as I only have 69 ATC files but I don't stay on that frequency long. In Europe, this could be a problem as I see there are only 199 files for Center, 6 for clearance (but you won't be on that frequency for long), 72 for departure, 9 for ground, and 71 for tower. You can add more you find around the Internet and the RealATC program developed just for ProATC may have even more you can add. You can also run the default ATC in the background too. Just don't ask for clearance, etc. As your flight progresses, the default ATC will kick in accordingly. Background ATC is not constant. There are some breaks along the routes so it takes a long time to get through each. Best regards, Jim I have seen in some ATC add-on issues when wind change significantly (two head-on landings is one of them). Oh this happens in ProATC too but not the cause of a weather program. What I use to defeat this problem is AI Smooth. About 98% of the time this neat little freeware will keep AI out of your path on the ground and in the air. In the air, the program will place the AI in a holding pattern until you land. ProATC developers are working on a solution too. January 3, 201313 yr Can anyone tell me just how repetitive these loops are, or are they of long enough duration that it's not a problem? I only used them briefly and didn't notice apparent repetition, but I personally prefer FSX ATC in the background for the reasons I already posted: FSX ATC won't get in the way, you can turn down the volume a little and it sure is nice hearing the pilot in the plane taxiing in front of you asking for clearance. Things will be better of course when ProATC/X will take care of the AI too, but until then this solution really beats random ATC chatter... BTW I have the idea the loops themselves are quite short, just someone contacting ATC and ATC responding, stuff like that: it's not that an entire conversation that takes a few minutes is looped. Afaik. I think I'm just about to take the plunge with this... You daredevil... ^_^ Don't expect heaven on eart.... er... in the skies yet (but well, I suppose you read my posts B) ) but it IS getting better. And better. Be sure to have my tutorial nearby when you are going to install everything because there is no real manual yet (only a Help file which doesn't tell the complete story). As it is now it's nice enough to actually enjoy, I can honestly say, but... still a bit overpriced and you shouldn't be afraid to betatest a little...

January 3, 201313 yr I just got real ATC voice files from Ralph zimmerman and they provide a little more variety and are N.America oriented. Quite a few files already which makes the loop a little longer. He says he will be adding to it at no cost. Price was $10. Its specifically for pro ATC. But I agree that if one day the chatter would be according to what around you would really add to the immersion. It can be done as fsx ATC does it. January 3, 201313 yr I just got PRO ATC. I think at the moment it is overpriced because it is a work in progress. On the other hand, the flight planner with SIDS/STARS and the implementation of them in the flight might almost be worth the money. My two major problems are 1)No feature to save ATC file in flight like in RC, so you can't save and resume your flight and 2)the issue mentioned above with no ATC contacting the AI around you. The pre recorded chatter is the same short loop, and worse there is no American regional chatter so it is a short UK loop, which basically sucks! I will try the above suggestion for now and disable it and enable the default ATC so I can hear what's happening around me. Also it would be nice to have holding patterns etc... based on weather like in Radar Contact. They seem to be actively developing PRO ATC, so it seem that it will get better and better. However, at the moment, I find it overpriced because of the lack of these major features.
January 3, 201313 yr Been following this thread very closely.....Not sure if i missed it or not, but can PRO-ATC/V be networked, using 2 computers
January 3, 201313 yr Commercial Member Holding patterns, will be implemented, its on the list  Clive Joy

January 3, 201313 yr Anyone know how "winds calm" are defined and notice how Pro ATC interpretes it? Ive run into a situation or two where ProAtc chooses the correct runway as to winds but 173/005 is probably calm, and choosing an Rnav approach with 1/4sm visibility would not be the active runway when there is a longer runway with ILS. Overall , had more successful flights. Now that the core is becoming more mature, they can work on things like getting permission to cross a runway, and taxi procedures that are monitored. Ive gone all over the place, (yea I was slightly lost or misplaced) but ATC doesnt direct me back on course. Im sure all these things will come in the very near future. Im looking forward to the AI implementation now. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
January 4, 201313 yr Holding patterns, will be implemented, its on the list  1) and what about saving ATC in mid flight feature? Have you planned a time/date of release? I can't buy Pro ATC without this feature, because all my flights are completed in more steps. 2) and for AI traffic around you? Is on your to do list? January 14, 201313 yr So what does this program do better or differently ATC-wise than Radar Contact? I've seen a few You Tube videos, and the voices really do not strike me as any less robotic than the RC ones. I'm not interested in a moving map, a flight planner, a virtual crew beyond handling the ATC radio etc--I already have very good software for those, and don't need or want something else. What is the basic process for setting up ATC for an IFR commercial jet flight? Does it interact with Active Sky 2012 well? I've been using RC since version 3, and though it can be a bit mechanical and predictable, it does things pretty well. To be honest, a lot of the dialogue today suggests that for $68 you can essentially join the Pro-ATCX beta team--is this add-on really ready for prime-time yet? January 14, 201313 yr Boy, a lot of posts have disappeared... pity... Anyway, I own and use ProATC/X and I think it is great but it's a work in progress for sure. Imho it is not ready for prime time yet. Too many things missing still. But... the devs are very active, not only when it comes to working but also when it comes to listening. So I have high hopes this may become THE ATC-addon one day. BTW I am also not interested in a virtual crew or a planner (the one that's in it works well with ProATC/X of course, but I don't need them to enhance it) or a moving map. All I want is good ATC. And I like what I've got already. Now I don't own RC so I can't compare... And btw 2: new voices are added over time: the latest ones are a LOT better then most of the older ones. You can make your own soundset to (as a pilot and/or controller and/or co-pilot).
