Holy Smoke Batman- X-Plane 10 Global in 64-bits!

Featured Replies

I had a pleasant flight in the B787 on Saturday and was blown away by the night graphics when I arrived in Oslo (despite the moon and stars leaking into the countryside but that's a known bug). the night was rather black I have to admit so I may try turning up the gamma as Robert suggests, although I'm sure that's possible from within XP10.

Before you go changing Gamma Setting because the night was too dark, if XP10 models the cycle of the moon like FSX does, then maybe it was just a New Moon, in which case a dark sky would be realistic, which I just checked we're just coming out of a New Moon on Saturday, so there would just be a slight crescent if you flew yesterday.

Thanks

Tom

were you using the Heinz 787? how do you like it?

It's a quality plane, graphically very nice but is light on systems.

However when you want to do a relatively simple relaxing flight without all the cockpit prep, I find the 787 an enjoyable plane to fly.

(For "lite" aircraft I tend to use FS Commander to create the route with the Sid/Stars built into the FP)

Thanks tf51d I'll bear that in mind when I'm fiddling around.

the UFMC works great also with the Heinz 787 and many other non-fmc addons. it cost around $20 2007-12-22_105655-full_zpsae611ab6.jpg

Little off topic, but since it has been brought up: UFMC causes CTD since 10.11. I do not know why. Anyone else experiencing the same?

no ctd's yet! hmmmm! CTD sounds like some freaky transmitted disease

I have it but can never get it to work quite right with VNAV/autothrottle.

Those buttons on the top left/right just don't work properly for me.

Haha. Happy the first letter is "C" here. Transmitted disease it is!

:LMAO: FSX's STD is called a CTD  oh oh I hope I didn't start another "versus topic" :O

Odd, one of my posts in this thread got deleted ... would be good to know why since I'm at a loss as to why and I certainly don't want to repeat whatever it was that required a deletion? I have a copy in my Email, but my content was polite and considerate and accurate and I didn't violate AVSIM's ToS. Very strange.

Anyway, back on topic ... I was trying to locate the GoFlight plugin for XPlane 64bit and can't seem to find it ... anyone have a link?

A number of posts were lost during some work going on with the forum software so maybe that is where your post went.

AVSIM had a system issue over the weekend with a problematic forum software update. They needed to restore from data from last week. It is likely that your message was not removed by a moderator, but rather fell victim to this outage and "vanished" when they restored from last week's data set.

Aah, phew ... that makes sense ... I see other messages are missing too. Glad it wasn't something I said.

:-( I knew this was too good to be true... Now that I was falling in love with XP 10 and was seriously making a 100% crossover from FSX, I have hit a major obstacle.

As I've already stated, I am building a 225 degree wraparound home cockpit based on a Cessna 172. After researching what would be the best way to make XP work on such a setup, I have discovered that I would have to build 2 new PCs so that each projector has it's own PC for visuals and a 4th PC for the instruments. We are talking about $2,000 on the PCs alone.

On top of that, I need to purchase Level III usb key dongles for EACH PC. At $750 per dongle, I can safely say I'm folding and sticking with FSX.

Folks, XP is the real deal and I highly think it's the sim of the future, but if you are building a full size cockpit with a curved screen, be prepared to invest a couple of thousand in just getting the visuals working properly.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. :-(
