I'm an ex X-Plane 10 convert

Featured Replies

I'm, definitely an X-Plane 10 convert :-)

How about airport sceneries and AI traffic? I cant find anything of the quality of Uk2000, Aerosoft or Flighbeam. With traffic, no MyTraffic X.

Also GSX is missing. There is [XPGS] Ground Services but that does not look as automated as GSX.

plus cockpit hardware from the likes of FDS and Open Cockpits doesnt look like they work atm.

  • Actually, I COULD show you scenery and aircraft to the standards you specified, but what's the point?  There are many people, like yourself, who are convinced that no one will ever top the developers

  • There is another thread running on this site right now you may wish to read Jim.   Why are flight simmers so rude to each other.

  • If he is in the Beta team, he's under NDA and not allowed to talk about it. Better for us to not ask anything about P3D V2!!   About X-Plane. People's argument is, I have too much money invested in

What about FS2Crew? TrackIR and Ezdok? FSUIPC? LINDA?

true, so many add-ons we take for granted in FSX. I do have to trial of Xplane but absolutely hate not having Ezdok.

TrackIR works with X Plane 10 I believe.

Rest of the stuff can definitely be created. X Plane 10 has just the same potential as FSX, it just needs more third party developers.

Thats the issue, it a catch 22 situation. if there are missing add-ons no one will convert to Xplane, and if no-one uses Xplane there will be no incentive to develop add-ons.

True, I think people will really start converting to a new sim only when there's a platform that is overall clearly superior to FSX. Maybe that platform could be the next version of X Plane...

Yes, I agree, and I strongly believe it'll happen with X-Plane, still during v 10... It's becoming hot in there :-)

The 2012 AVSIM demographic survey showed 2% usage of X-Plane and the first look at the 2013 one in May wasn't much better, it would be interesting to see what those stats are now, to see if XP10 is picking up FSX converts.

Thanks

Let's wait for the next big X-Plane Update, with much better data for the scenery around the world, and other important fixes. I believe X-Plane can grow to the two digit percentage of usage here in Avsim!

Alexis Mefano

two digit percentage of usage

From .9% to 1.0%?

From .9% to 1.0%?

Just wait for SkyMaxx to come out, and at a later date, IXEG 737. I'm confident these two have the power to make the Sim Market more diversified than the FSX monopoly we have today.

And.... you'll have to get accustomed to use a sim without OOMs...

I know that's probably difficult, but we can think about a plugin to generate random OOMs to help

with the possible deprivation syndrome... :-)

Guys... in 4 months you'll be clearing your disks of FSX, and it's not going to be because of P3D v2....  If I lose, I'll have re-installed FSX by then, and will be having my punishment already :-/

Interesting thread.

Would like to have a technologically current simulator, but two things are holding me back from X-Plane:

- massive invest in FSX addons

- A2A planes not available in XPX

And when I tried the default C172 in the XPX demo I was very much underwhelmed; floats better than a hovercraft. I know that it's not comparable to a 40€ add-on plane, but still...

OK 1.1% then.

OK 1.1% then.

More like 11.1%  :P
