Flight1 Citation or Eagle Citation X Extreme 2

Featured Replies

The Sandel was included with Citation II/SP, not to be confused with Citation X 2.0.

Sorry for the error. I've got the CX 2.0 and am pretty happy with it as well. Got inside the cockpit of one a couple of years ago felt familiar with it after using yours.

Well I took each of the two that you are considering for long flights today and my simple conclusion is the two are as different as salt and pepper. There is just not much to compare between the two.

For a direct response to the OP, I think both of these are a little weak on the VC sharpness, but strong on systems depth or at least on systems presence. Practically any and every switch or knob works in either and both models. The X has some of the most creative and innovative popup click spots seen on any model anyplace. Of course, they should be considered a necessity as you would be have your hands full all the time trying to fly the X as a desktop simulation without all the help they give you.

The Flight1 Mustang seems like a distant cousin when you go from one to the other. Almost like I sometimes think I am flying the C182 until I check the altitude and airspeed. I think the Mustang hand flies like a small plane and the X feels more like a much larger corporate jet or something.

I like them both, a lot and would really hate to have to choose to have only one of the two. You can use a light load of gas and almost no passengers and get the Mustang out of some little bitty airports or runways. Which is fun for me. You can't do that with the X. It is just too big with higher speeds to mess around with short runways.

I like the flip the quarter recommendation and save the jar to start saving for the other one.

About the only item that stands out is the Mustang is designed for a single pilot whereas the X is setup for a copilot. The good news is he actually helps out with the callouts. I think the X has a really poor cockpit layout, especially for desktop flying. ESDG did a great job on making is as easy as they could but it still takes a lot of clicks and popups. Those Course, Heading and Altitude knobs that are handy in the rw really suck for location way down and to the back of the center console. The smart popups are necessary to fly this one. But, those five big glass panels sure look good and have a ton of useful information.

I think the Mustang manual would win the contest as the more informative flight manual. The X has 4 or 5 pdfs that could or should be combined as a flight manual but many of the pages are exact duplicates.

All personal opinions, of course, but aren't they all.

As an alternate to flipping the quarter, you can print out this response and stick it on the wall. Throw a dart at my signature boxes and the one you hit is the winner. Try not to stick the pig.

Ray, have you seen the new layouts at the Cessna site?

Yes, I have.

That is the TEN or the New X. A new way of talking in Kansas. The new panel is the Garmin 5000.

Originally introduced as the Citation TEN in 2010, as a successor to the renowned Citation X, the aircraft represented significant redesign and improvement to the Citation X systems and performance. As we progressed through the design phases and talked with our customers, they overwhelmingly told us they prefer the Citation X name. We are pleased to present the New Citation X - the fastest civil airplane in the world. Its interior is completely reimagined. The cockpit is revolutionary. We invite you to explore the most dominant aircraft this side of the sound barrier.

I wonder if Ron has a team squirreled away working on this one already? I sure hope they can complete it in a year or before Cessna changes the name again.

Cool and sleek! For a moment, I thought the new Citation X had converted to side sticks, but upon looking at the official brochure, it appears that it will possess a leather column yoke!

They have a very large image (5822 x 3639) at Cessna.com for downloading that I am using as wallpaper. I see something new everyday. Top center is the only carryover from inventory. I hope the OP is interested in all this TEN, New X stuff. I can only delete for a given time.

Yep, looks pretty conventional here.

Ryan, download the big file and use it as wallpaper for a few days. Those little screens are all touch pads.

I suppose to be fair with the big images, I should show the new M2 Mustang cockpit also.

Interesting how one seat is fur and the other is leather.

Oh, that is easy to explain. This one is set up for East to West flights and the fur seat is the North, colder side.

I prefer the Eaglesoft Citation X 2.0. It is slightly dated, but the systems simulation is really good, it flies really nice and I personally think it's a bit better looking as well. Also, in my opinion, the procedures are more interesting and the Honeywell avionics are quite a bit more interesting to me than a G1000.

Agree.
