February 14, 201313 yr Yeah, I, personally, doubt that most people would use a great deal of the functionality anyway...except when they were looking for a reason to complain. Post of the year! Like Ron said, I get the  face when someone starts in on the "It doesn't have full functionality" line. Even with multi monitors, it's a PITA to do flight plans from the VC.. That's what PlanG is for. Really all I need from my glass is the basic stuff, and maybe a checklist menu on a MFD thats readable. "Safe Taxi" would be kinda cool too. Progressive taxi is cheating IMO, of course the lack luster ATC wont even tell you which side to turn off the runway like in the RW, so what can you do. All devs need to do a better job on their click spots for knobs. Some of those in house GPS units can cause you to kick the dog.
February 14, 201313 yr For the reality XP 430 / 530s you have no choice but to enter it 'in sim'. What I'm looking for is avionics that allows me to fly in Vatsim, so routes, SIDs, STARs, holds etc. Desktop simulation has been used a number of times as a procedural trainer from the mil version of DCS A-10 to Feelthere's jets to A2A'a 377, maybe an industry wide API would be good so that Garmin etc can provide it on their trainers and developers of aircraft dont have to try and replicate the whole back end. If not the OEMs then could be 3rd party's doing the back end systems. It's not sustainable as it is.

It will add SIDS/STARS, Routes,Transitions and Approaches to most anything except the Reality XP. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 14, 201313 yr I'm using Aivlasoft EFB, Navigraph charts along with VoxATC and with the Citation X they work very well. Use the charts and EFB to set up the route, activate to FSX and then save the flight, the route can then be imported into the FMS and VoxATC will pick it up. A small amount of duplication in flight adding departures, arrivals and approaches to the FMS and EFB but adding to the latter is like a 2 second job so no big deal and well worth it to have the moving progress display. EFB is good but isn't so smooth on procedural turns and no holds that I know of but as you say it brings a lot of capability to aircraft that otherwise would be left out of the whole nav picture. Like Opus, Rex and Accufeel, a must have add on.
February 14, 201313 yr We always suggest that simmers should own both. B) Gentlemanly words from the developer. I would suggest the same, if (there is only one "if") your computer can handle the Mustang and give you acceptable FPS. JasonFAA CPL SEL MEL IR CFI-I MEI AGI
February 14, 201313 yr Moderator I've got the Mustang so I'm aware of, at least, some of the holes. Actually I was referring to the "Professional" or "Student" G1000 system that the real-world side of Flight1 offers: http://www.flight1tech.com/Products/AvionicsSimulations/GarminG1000StudentSimulatorSoftware/G1000OptionsandPricing.aspx At the moment it is the single most realistic and featured G1000 system available, bar none. Yet even so, there's still some features of the real units that is not included... Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
February 14, 201313 yr The Mindstar G1000 Unit which may be used as a direct replacement for our own sim based G1000 is of course another viable option for simmers. Not full boat realism but certainly viable. B)
February 14, 201313 yr Is there Navigraph support for the Mindstar G1000, and what other airplanes can it be installed into?

I'd asked that question on the ESDG forums months ago with no response. Chris Magnus HR Manager Air Jamaica Virtual Airlines and Cargo (http://www.airjamaicavirtualairlinesandcargo.org)

Stiggie, we have no plans for a CX Type Project at this time.

February 14, 201313 yr Here is the reason we said it would likely be far beyond sim entertainment norms in costs. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/400046-sweet-g1000-hardware/

February 15, 201313 yr I am surprised how little the Eaglesoft CJ1 v2 has been mentioned. In fact there seems very little info about it at all, hardly any reviews and no content on YouTube. Seems odd since it has been out a while... Wondering if anyone has views about that one.... G Sent from my S3 using Tapatalk. Typing errors expected....
