Yup, the engineering hatch. I climbed up one of a 707 last year. WOW, is all i can say...especially as i had to climb down it too...vertical ladders are not all that fun...

Aren't ladders generally vertical or near vertical anyway?

Maybe they can model the elevator they did for Air Force One. Probably take forever to load 416 passengers however.

The pushback feature alone makes GSX worth every cent but since most 747's are boarded with jetbridges (at least here in the US) I doubt that it will be a feature especially with GSX around.

Since everyone's talking about GSX - can you disable it for some airports? I'd be interested in it, however I would much rather use AES for FlyTampa DXB & UK2000 EGLL.

Trust me, near vertical is a lot nicer to come down than vertical ;)

But yes, i suppose some are vertical anyways, but this one was quite steep too...

Since everyone's talking about GSX - can you disable it for some airports? I'd be interested in it, however I would much rather use AES for FlyTampa DXB & UK2000 EGLL.

 

Unlike AES, GSX doesn't actually automatically start. It won't do so until you press the relevant key combination (CTRL+F12). Therefore, you can do without it at selected airports should you choose to.

How about a winch system at each door? :rofl:

 

Actually, in all seriousness, you guys are making a pretty strong case for GSX. I fly a lot of cargo, and will be getting the 777 once the cargo version is released (likely start with the pax version anyway). If the moderator will indulge me this question (and it is related to the 777 since I'd use this a lot for the 777 :wink: ), what benefits could I see for that type of flying with GSX?

I took a Malaysia Airlines flight between KLIA and LHR and had a stop at Dubai. This was in 1997 when they were redo-ing the terminal so we had to park on the tarmac, climb down stairs to awaiting busses. I think I had melted by the time I reached the ground, it took forever and that was with three sets of stairs. All else fails a rope to repel down might work. :) Anyone remember the 727 with stairs at the back, now that was an idea!

This is expensive hobby.

Only if you want it to be. I don't, so I don't buy leading edge PC hardware, I don't buy expensive controllers, I don't buy ultra realistic scenery I'm never going to see up close and and I don't buy eye candy accessories like GSX. I understand the appeal it has for many, but it doesn't appeal to me. So I don't think PMDG should assume everyone has it.

 

I've boarded and disembarked 777s and 747s from airstairs so it does happen in practice and it would be nice if they were available as an option in the 777 model.

I assume they didn't care about gas prices and weight in 1963. :)

If you dont wont to use gsx than just dont open it up, or you can just use certain features of it with aes it all depends on what you want to do with gsx
