[RESOLVED] Avsim slow?

Featured Replies

Noticed a bit of slowness, in fact, first time I loaded the site today, the connection timed out.

I'm able to load pages now, just at a very slow speed.

60 seconds! Wow, speedy or what? Mine wouldn't load at all so I went off in a huff. I just came back and it loaded. Tom, stop tweaking!

Oh, and don't mess with my new avatar. That shirt's clean on.

Very glad this is being addressed. Had reached a point where Avsim would not load at all. Guess it wasn't "us" after all.

Regardless of numbers, my experience is that AVSIM is significantly slower than all of the other flight sim sites I visit and amongst the slowest of all the other sites I visit.

Me too.  The first time I attempted to reply - when this thread was new - was just when the site went down.  I figured it was not a coincidence after reading the "slow" topic headline.  It has been taking a long time for my posts to complete as well.  So long that I started highlighting then and doing a right-click/copy so that I could paste my efforts into Notepad if the post(s) failed.

Holy Cow! Who is that jovial man with the mustache?

Is there an improvement for anyone?  I've noticed it got better after the maintenance today.  Not sure if it's just me though.

Sincerely,

Chase

Actually yes, very much faster.

So what did you do, you wizard you?

Kind regards,

Nothing -- Tom did it.  Meet me in TeamSpeak good sir.

At home I wasn't experiencing slowness, but at a remote location I was.  Once maint. was performed this afternoon speed improved greatly at the remote location.

Using an old laptop when away from home....Vista & IE fully updated. Was not able to logon either here or at any forum which uses the sytem used by Avsim/Orbx/Simflight etc. Would keep telling me that I had not entered a username....all very odd.

Anyway, long story short....have installed Firefox. Problem solved, also good load times. Never used Firefox before but like what I have seen over the last hour. When I get home I may just switch Browsers on the main equipment.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

Its fixed for me after that last maintenance work.

Now, pages loading <10 seconds, still slower than most of other forums, but I can live with that.

GJ whoever fixed it.

Back to normal. Thanks to whoever corrected this!

Joe Esposito
