quick question NGX/MD11

Featured Replies

Gents,

Just a quick one.

I miss flying heavy metal and want to put back the MD11.

Is it OK to install the MD11 over the already installed NGX ?

Thank for your time.

Kind regards , Rick

Absolutely, why would there be any issue?

The only "issue" I would guess is if you decided to do the tutorials again.  Since you installed NGX first, it is going to have a newer AIRAC than the default one that came with the MD-11.  Often times things change with time and AIRAC updates.  I even had issues 4 months later by updating my dataset, one of the tutorials changed because one of the way points had changed.  Other than that, you shouldn't have a problem.

No problem, I installed MD-11 and J41 after the NGX, works just fine.

I've heard of the older nav data that ships with the MD11 to overwrite the newer nav data of the NGX (haven't investigated that myself, though).

After installing the MD11 over the NGX you might want to check your NGX nav data, just to be sure.

What happened to AVSIM

u dont want to fly NGX anymore, instead of the MD11? lol.

If you can´t read it, you can´t fly it. Real world B777F pilot

Strange and somewhat irrelevant response to the OP, who is open to a variety of great aircraft produced by PMDG. I fly both regularly and enjoy each for its own unique character and role.

Yup  the work around  is  to  save  the  nav  data  from the ngx  and  just  replace it  again

Unfortunately, no. The upside? A new 777, 747, and hopefully, a DC-6 (and maybe more??).

Well I would pay for a NGX type update of the MD-11.

This was mentioned in another thread...

You can install the MD11X after the NGX and have no issues at all with the navdata. I believe I remember the installer offering me the option not to install the navdata. Don't forget that the navdata for all PMDG installations is common...
