March 22, 201313 yr Nice comparison! Hard to believe that those shots actually depict the same airport. Florian
March 23, 201313 yr Comparison shots are always fun to see. I can't figure out why I never do them. Very nice airport indeed Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
March 23, 201313 yr Hey Dennis, thanks for the pics. Tell me though, what's the performance like at this airport with REX and the NGX? March 24, 201313 yr Author Hey Dennis, thanks for the pics. Tell me though, what's the performance like at this airport with REX and the NGX? Not sure yet, Howard. I'll do a flight tonight and see how it goes. I'm overclocked at 4.8 GHz and fps limiter set at 30. Hopefully I can keep at 30 at the foot of the runway. Maybe I'll run it at stock 3.7 GHz. That'll give a better comparison. I don't use REX. I use Opus with AS2012 clouds. Edit: Okay, I've tried out EHRD and here are the results. NGX, Opus Stock (3.7GHz) Inside V/C - 18 FPS Stock (3.7GHz) Outside V/C - 23 FPS Overclocked (4.7GHz) Inside V/C - 24 FPS Overclocked (4.7GHz) Outside V/C - 30 FPS (Limit) Opus does not effect the FPS. I'll uninstall the scenery and see what's happening with the default setup, and report back. Edit #2: The default scenery is exactly the same (+/- 2 FPS). There is absolutely no performance penalty with this scenery. Pretty cool. Edited March 24, 201313 yr by IFR7700 Update Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules
March 24, 201313 yr Hi Dennis, many thanks for the info, appreciated. I'm just going to pop over to Aerosoft and add this baby to my growing list of airports, cheers. March 24, 201313 yr Commercial Member I've had this for a while. The airport is done nicely, but the photo real of the area around the airport is rather horrible. It's a small regional airport, and that along with their using a large about of photo real makes it very frame rate friendly (at least with an i7-960). March 25, 201313 yr Author There is also a very nice freeware Rotterdam airport over at NL2000 main.jpg That does look nice ... will check them out. Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules
March 25, 201313 yr Moderator There is also a very nice freeware Rotterdam airport over at NL2000 Yep, I had forgotten all about that. I had it along with all the photoscenery installed a few years ago but had to remove it to save some HD space. Just reinstalled Rotterdam and the libraries without the photoreal and it looks pretty nice for free. They did a nice job blending the photoscenery outskirts to mesh with GEX pretty well, in fact you almost cant tell. FPS are really good on the NL2000. Glad you mentioned it, I almost went out and bought the Aerosoft version. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 25, 201313 yr Wow, what a find! A great bit of freeware scenery. I'm really impressed. OK, it won't be as good as the payware equivalent, but hey, I'm sure it's pretty close. Cheers...
