April 8, 201313 yr The best FSX add-on is: (1) Aerosoft Airbus A-320 (2)PMDG 737 (3) I-Fly 737 (4) VRS-F/18 (5)Level D 767-300 (6) (7) (9)
April 8, 201313 yr Author Pulled the trigger on the Maddog 2010 FSX. Seems like a really impressive heavy system-laden aircraft with very out0dated VC graphics quality. I think I will really enjoy this aircraft BUT.... I haven't been able to start it after about 7 trys following the tutorial to a T even. Not sure whats going on. I get N2 rotation to about 24, flip on the fuel then the N2 winds down to 0 while the EGT goes to 600. Also, the overhead, panel and flood lights are not working, leaving me with a very dark VC at night. So far a little buggy this aircraft and spending lots of time troubleshooting and no flying yet. For now, at least, the MD-11 is still king!
April 8, 201313 yr Well I can't help with your problems with the info you give. But it's a good idea to join their forums. I've never had a flood light issue so can't help ya there Lee Once you get it going you'll enjoy it. The vc could be worse lol it could be like the LDS 67

Keep an eye on the egt before you apply fuel, also the bleed air pressure and apply fuel at the correct readout. Trust me, I have burnt a few... Trust me, I have burnt a few... April 8, 201313 yr @ Philip; The APU bleed air switch is very easy to miss on the MD, so make sure you definitely have air on.... I haven't flown it for years, so cannot be sure, but in this aircraft you may also need the Packs OFF manually, before engine start. If still no good, it may be a FS problem with fuel flow / tanks set-up, so perhaps set up a completely new sterile default flight saved file, with everything set up, then try loading the Maddog from that - and try again.
April 12, 201313 yr Author Got the Maddog working...I was holding the starter switch manually and releasing too early causing engines to shut down. It's better to roll the mouse wheel over the starter switch so that it stays on (down) automatically. I previously gave a raving review of the Coolsky DC-9...and I stand by that. However, I did notice the other day that, after I started the engines, the ignition wasn't even on. So it's system fidelity is called in question, at least compared to the Maddog.
April 12, 201313 yr System fidelity of ANY aircraft add on can be called in question compare to the Maddog - I know, there is the Concorde... Jan Betlach
April 12, 201313 yr The vc could be worse lol it could be like the LDS 67 But with those HD textures you can purchase for the FS9 version, the VC in LDS767 truly is a joy! I flew EGLL-KPHL on Vatsim last night and I actually sat staring at the vc throught most of the flight! Krister LindénEFMA, Finland------------------
April 12, 201313 yr Indeed - as I post, keep that firmly in mind! I do own FSX. And P3D. and I've tried XP 10. I do enjoy MSFlight... so I am not necessarily coming from an ignorant perspective as some on the FSX forum may try to represent me... But my Best Addon was Aerosofts Freight Dogs for FS9. It was my first payware addon and thousands of dollars later, it is still the best value and the best product for the money. It includes 6 detailed airports (state of the air for their time - and they are still OK, though not up to ORBX standards) in two spruced up regions of Alaska (done by Holger Sandmann) with full-featured portions of Aerosofts Beaver and Beech 18 (again state-of-the-art for their time) and a stripped version on FSCargo - all for $20. So - 6 awesome airports, 6 awesome planes, and mission-generator. Still fly them, into and out of the Never seen such value in an addon before or since. Wish someone would be that kind again to us poor over-charged hobbiests in the world of FS! LOL, you made my day with that comment! Wow... Freight Dogs was so long ago now. I still like the idea of a package of smallish airports that comprise their own little world, so to speak. Times have moved on though, and users expect so much detail that it's hard to do that kind of work for that price anymore. Still, it was a fun project at the time, and I think the concept is still sound, just perhaps not the price. ;-)
April 17, 201313 yr Author The maddog 2010 is not even a true FSX addon. Epic fail. The best aircraft addon for FSX is easily the PMDG NGX, probably replaced by the 777 when it comes out. I put the A2A Civilian P-51 Mustang at #2. What? Wait! Epic success. I just reluctantly bought the Maddog 2010 for FSX. WHAT AN AMAZING AIRCRAFT ADDON FOR FSX!!! Dated? sure. But still way ahead of it's time and blows away nearly all of the recent addons. The Maddog's immersion and realism factor, despite the dated graphics are second to none, not even PMDG. Somebody find Leonardo...we need more planes like this.
April 17, 201313 yr I love the coolsky DC-9, and of course, the PMDG NGX .With one of my other favorite planes, the irony is the developer had little to do with the finished version. And that would be ( don't laugh) the CS 727-100. It was one of the usual Captain Sim abandon projects, leaving customers hanging with a flawed model at the most basic level ( what else would you expect from CS). But the community stepped in and found patches for a lot that was wrong. Then, one talented individual produced a flight dynamics over haul package which left the 727 flying by real world numbers, really feeling like the RL A/C I remember as a passenger. I also added a Civa INS and a 727 sound package<p>Unless you're very patient to work all the modifications, and there are lots of them, I wouldn't recommend this one. And without the mod's it's a joke. With the mod's, it will perform wonderfully, accurately and with true feeling. And it does have very nice graphic's that CS always puts out. Brian Green

April 17, 201313 yr I don't have the maddog but in my opinion to be considered a superb addon today the graphics need to be updated. That's why even though the maddog has incredible systems modeling there's no way it beats the NGX. Behind those two planes I prefer GA so it's the Realair Legacy and A2A Civilian Mustang with RXP430W. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
April 17, 201313 yr I dont know anything about Maddog But the PMDG's MD-11 is the best for me I really think that it is the best out of all PMDG products happy Landing Maddog Firas Salim"The joy of being is the joy of being conscious. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
April 17, 201313 yr Seeing this is an FSX thread I'll throw my hate in here from the FS9 side of things (seeing many of you crash the FS9 forum anyway): 1. FSUIPC 2. ActiveSky Evolution 3. Zinertech's Water (FSX effect in FS9) 4. REX 5. ENB Bloom Effect 6. Leonardos Maddog 7. iFly 737 8. PMDG's MD11 9. PMDG's 744 10. Captainsim's 757 (it actually works well in FS9) 11. Level-D's 767 The list is actually much longer than this. DreamFleet and Eaglesoft round out excellent GA offerings as well as Carenado. Then you have all the airports available and WOAI for traffic (another great is GA Traffic). It would take too long to list all the great work released over the years which is 'great' in itself. I guess that's why so many have kept both sims around on their hard drives.
