Fingers crossed, as I have setup the VNAV Page following the instructions from the FMC manual a user posted on this forum. It's gonna be great if it works.

This is one tough "bird" to hand fly, it requires constant rudder and aileron action to mantain wings level. Trimming is a must.

I'm personally going to hold off on this great looking add-on, and it pains me to do do as I was really looking forward to it. I just think an add-on this advanced/complicated that can be used to train procedures on the real aircraft should contain an authentic AFM. I realize its not Majestics fault it doesn't, as Bombardier isn't real keen on lending out/selling the real world manuals. Guess I've been spoiled by the NGX manuals. When it comes down to it, why have such a realistic aircraft but not have the manuals to go along with it.

I don't think this "bird" too complicated. It's pretty automated.

Condition Levers and Power Levers have detents, it's all FADEC.

There is a very good post about VNAV in another thread, but I personally fly without it. B)

Ditto. And it lets you know if you have or about to do something stupid. :) Not to tough, as far as power settings.

MTOP, MCL, MCR. Cant get much more simple than that.

PMDG has the habit of setting the bar high for every area of it's products, and that includes documentation. My NGX came with a 98 page Tutorial, and that wasn't even the advanced one, that was released some months later.

But don't let this prevent you from enjoy one of the best simulations there is for FS. It's amazing, you can't go wrong, you can find material about this aircraft all over the internet, if you really feel like learning the FMS, someone posted a 400 pages manual on this forum some days ago, it doesn't come with the addon, but you can easily find it.

Yeah, the Q400 is easier to operate than I thought. Engine out and it Automatically Feathers the Bad Engine, Add extra power to the good one, the only thing left for you to do is kick that rudder. It's a very automated aircraft, the cool thing is that we can enjoy more flying it, and less pushing buttons.

The only thing I really didn't like is the FMS, for an aircraft from the year 2000 it could be better, I believe the ERJ-145 has a much more advanced one onboard.

I think you are asking too much of a regional turboprop.

Let the fancy stuff for the big ones. :P

I find this attitude strange. I don't remember anyone complaining they had to wait for a 3rd party to write a tutorial for the PMDG NGX, or pay a lot of money for the Angle of Attack videos. But after this is released, there are nothing but complaints about a lack of a proper tutorial. The NGX and the 747X did not have them, you had to wait for a user to make one, or buy the Angle of Attack DVDs.

If you really want to learn basic operation, even though it's in German you get a sense on how to operate:

Then it makes the tutorial that went with the airplane easier, and you can follow along and now properly fly. I still don't get VNAV but I just fly by hand or use a manged descent mode like VS

The NGX didn't have one? It came with a 98 Pages tutorial. Maybe you're refering to the 737NG for FS2004, which I never owned. The 737NGX came with an Intro Documento, telling us about every quirk of the real aircraft, a tutorial, a system manual, QRH, etc, etc. Well I'll stop refering to other developers, as I'm having a lot of fun with this aircraft, all I asked was for a proper tutorial, I like to fly my addons like they're flown in the real world, these youtube videos are most of them users giving some fast instructions to load the aircraft and take them into the air. That I can do already.

Only a real pilot can make a proper tutorial, with all the procedures like they're used in real life operations. It's in their SOPs, which you can't find anywhere on the internet, only people who work for these airlines have access to it.

but complaints about a lack of a proper tutorial. The NGX

I would also very much welcome a detailed tutorial.

Because this great plane really deserves one!

So please Majestic:

Bring it on!

It'd be great to have one available!

Thank You very much in advance!

Cheers, Christoph

Hello B747-400F!

As pointed out above already, but just to really clarify this:

The PMDG 737 NGX for FSX offered a lot of great, detailed and most use- and helpfull manuals, tutorials and stuff like that right from the start and the beginning!

Cheers, Christoph

Enjoy flying and happy landings.

Poor old Majestic...Can't do right for doing wrong...

They produce a Simulation , yes guys let's not forget this is a simulation for us to use in OUR OWN armchairs in our own homes..

They produce as near damn it perfect simulation and spend a lot of time and effort on it, release it with excellent feedback and STILL everybody is not satisfied.

Maybe it's just me...I'm from an era before computers and my jaw drops every time the bar is raised (Which it has been in this case) and am eternally gratefull there are excellent developers etc in the likes of Majestic and others of course that enable us  to become "Armchair pilots" at a fraction of the price of the real thing.

I remember a quote from the old Fanda site when they had produced the Q300..

It was from a real world Q300 pilot in response to how accurate it was..

If 10 was the real aircraft..

9 is the multi  million dollar simulation

This product (Fanda Dash 8 ) comes in at 8

Doesn't really get much better than that really...

Phew...Spleen vented lol.

... No one has questioned how great and in fact jaw dropping this fantastic plane is!

Everyone who was asking for a tutorial here has pointed out that very clearly!

But it’s just a matter of fact, that quite a lot of the potential of this plane - might - remain hidden (at least somehow), if there ain’t no further and more detailed help/tutorial available for those that are not that much familiar with all its systems and flows and so on.

Asking for a tutorial does in no way question the great and outstanding work all the developers from Majestic and all the beta testers and everyone else involved into the development process, have put into this fantastic product!

Sure: I can go via trial and error, but it’s a bit odd to do so i think with such a great product.

And yes there are lots of various and great recourses to be found all over the web and great videos on YouTube and all of it.

But honestly spoken:

To get a serious, proper and reliable "first start", i think it'd be the best to have one good source at hand.

No one is aking for the „ultimate tutiorial“, but one detailed „tutorial-flight-document“ which covers the essential stages of one particular flight, ranging from pre-flight (including how to set up fuel, weights and balances and so on) to shut down.

Writing a proper tutorial is no easy undertaking at all, but if it can be done, it will for sure be most appreciated - especially when keeping in mind how much help it would be for - well - at least some of us users here obviously.

Cheers, Christoph

P.S.: I read through the manuals, and actually did some flights with this great plane which i consider not „too bad at all“ - but i was mainly doing it all „my way“ and „by trying out“. This was great fun, but it did in no way match to the potential and detail of this super plane. Or in other words: This great Dash deserves to be treated better!

Enjoy flying and happy landings.

Guys, the detailed tutorial flight is available.

Go get it! (at Majestic website of course).
