This is part of a predictable pattern when it comes to Windows releases.   Windows XP, a success, Vista a flop.   Windows 7 great, Windows 8, not so great.

The lackluster response is a shame, windows 8 is very user friendly in all aspects. No one is willing to learn, or to slow to learn. It took me no time to figure out the awesomeness of the start screen, underneath the start screen it is basically the same everyone is use to. Start screen equals start button.

The problem is there should not be a brand new learning curve with every OS release, I work at a computer retail store and people are actually paying for a windows 7 license to downgrade from windows 8 devices. 90% of people are not tech savvy, so for me and you windows 8 might not be a difficult thing to learn but by a 45 yr old that is still using windows xp because he is "used to it" is a completely different story. You would be surprised how many people out there still dont want to make the move to windows 7, which is not much of a learning curve from windows xp.

I didn't have much of a learning curve with Windows 8, granted I don't use the new start menu very often. I very much enjoy the stability and the speed that Windows 8 offers, and I honestly don't know what is with all the bad flak it has received. But that is just my opinion.

The "bad flak" is simply because folks want to get the things they normally use a computer for, not to spend precious hours trying to learn how to even access the normal things they do...

...then get really annoyed when the discover that there's no longer a word processor or spreadsheet program with the basic operating system, since that's now an optional extra purchase.

The only problem I've had with FSX and Win8 is that the LD767 will not work.  No big loss as it's and old sim.

Other than that Win8 64 bit on my machine has worked great.  FSX runs better as does every other program I have.

They should have an option to use the older style Start UI. There is absolutely no legitimate reason other than their desire to push their phones and tablets for them to force desktop keyboard and mouse users into using the Metro/Modern UI. I don't *want* my desktop PC to have the same UI as a phone or tablet - they're very different platforms that I use for different things.

It is obvious with the release of Windows 8 that MS is going all hipster. They think that all users now want a tablet/laptop with a touchscreen, and they're going to be using it outside a New York library during January drinking Starbucks coffee while wearing a winter hat!

Stop it!

Out there in the real world, MS needs to realize that there is still people who build their own computers and have dual monitor setups and play hardcore games! Not everyone has an Xbox, and not everyone wants to pay for XBLive either! I read an article on PCWorld saying that the 2 stupid girls who are head of MS's Windows division are "listening" to customer feedback/responses and with Windows blue they'll try and make it more user friendly.

Everyone who says Windows 8 is good for desktops/GAMING, NONTOUCHSCREEN LAPTOPS either A) works for Microsoft or B) uses a computer only to check Facebook, Instagram, or whichever the hell social network.

EDIT: Check out my conversation with Windows' Facebook manager:

Scared of an OS? Thats a strong word to use isn't it for a piece of software?

Those of you who like Win8 and say it's "awesome" etc are very much in the minority. As quoted here: It is not what people want!! If people don't want it they won't buy it and exactly the same thing is happening as did with Vista in that people are buying equipment and having it "downgraded" to Win7 or even XP.

No lol. I wrote scared of it because my friend told me it'd get their attention. Just for fun, actually. I didn't know they would respond.
