Aerosoft's Twotter beta preview video...

Featured Replies

An interesting video that I watched up to the crash at Lukla. What I thought was clever was how this Twin Otter will appeal to different levels of simmer. It seems you can press all the buttons and switch all the switches yourself, or click on the check list items, or probably resort to Ctrl+E.

I think it was also smart to give it to someone who did what most of us will do, that is install, jump in and go. Learn about all the other crap later!

The video also made me feel like a proper pilot. "Throttle back, you idiot!" :O

I will very likely buy this plane because I know, like y'all, I can do a better job than him.

I mean this kindly.

Different strokes for different strokes, but me too, Ron - I'll buy it just as soon as it's released - is spite of this inept demonstration. I've always liked this aircraft - used to work on them in another life, (it's the reason I stoop so much) but the existing one is just a tad too old, and a fresh one will be an ideal mate to the Islander, won't it!

Well it wasn't so smart to make such a dismal video of it, Ron. Of course, we can all differentiate between this poor video and the undoubted quality of the forthcoming model, but it's a lousy introduction to the Twotter and I'm surprised Aerosoft thought it worth mentioning on their forum.

....just appalling ..... why on Earth did Aerosoft let this kid release this ??

"there is a box inside which is .... bolted down .... or whatever the technical term is.."

This guy is a beta tester for this product, and clearly knows nothing about it!!

Seriously, this is the worst FS video I have ever had the misfortune of watching.

@@JoshuaC - This guy is not a 'typical' simmer !!!!!!

Wasn't it intended to be the average Joe's introduction to it? I suppose it could have been presented as so many developers do, make it shiny and slick and not show the warts.

@Dave. Appalled? Surely not. Maybe it shows that Aerosoft don't have their heads too far up their backsides.

Hey! I sound as though I give a toss.

Nah come on Ron ...... you're not normally a fence sitter ...... you say what you feel..... now you're not agitated by this complete heap of rubbish of a video, but for reasons I can't give you, I am!!

Maybe because I am anticipating this aircraft at least as much as the PMDG 777; and to wait for a video that shows it off, then to see this guy in action is baaaaaaaaaad!

Well, even the average Joe needs to at least familiarize himself with something before he then claims to provide an 'introduction' to it. Sorry...great aircraft, utterly crap video. ;)

I'm like Ron, and probably many others, who may not admit to it. But as soon as I buy an aircraft I just jump into it and fly the best I can! Then I slowly begin to learn how to fly it properly. In fact this is the only true way I find I can learn. First accustoming myself to where things are and what operates what, then when I read the manual it all starts to make sense.

I didn't realize at first that this was originally done as a live stream.  In fact, I almost turned it off in the first minute because there was no sound until things "started", and all I was seeing was a static image.  With that in mind, the whole thing makes more sense.

No, it's not an ideal intro video - it isn't intended to be - and no, I didn't watch anywhere near all of it, but would you rather not have had a look at all?  C'mon guys, you can skip around and at least get a feel for what the new Twotter will look like and that's of some value to me.

Take it for what it is, and be glad you've had a sneak peek.  I'm sure better quality intro videos will come.

Yes Howard..we all do that. But we don't record that process and publish it as an introduction to the aircraft !! ;)

Well said Scott. There's too much fixation a bloody video! Thinking more about it, that video said more about the product than a polished up promo video ever could.

Oops! Must go, life's calling.

He's not on the beta team, relax.

Hey...

Well, it seems the haters are out in full force... joke  B)

So, I'm gonna post exactly what I wrote on the Aerosoft Forum - then you can all chillout and sleep better tonight

"Well, an interesting set of comments - I appreciate every single one!

So, as I've stated numerous times, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing when it comes to flying the "Twotter" (I didn't even know that was its nickname until about a week ago). I've made no secret of this & the idea of the livestream was really was community driven. I was ASKED to stream it & take requests to "do things" within the stream to the Aircraft. Also, it was a chance for the potential customers to communicate with the developers & win some cool stuff!

So, if you feel that it was a waste of your time, then I'm sorry that you feel that way. However, you got to see it in it's flesh, in a raw state in flight sim - even for a complete noob like myself it was relatively easy to fly (until I completely destroyed the number 2 engine).

I appreciate there will be "haters", but by majority everyone thoroughly enjoyed the stream & that's how it should be. I'm not trying to win pilot of the year, I'm just creating a place for people who share our enthusiasm in this hobby to all communicate in real time - something which I don't think is possible anywhere else (correct me if I'm wrong!).

I hope that clears a few things up.

Thanks for watching & I hope to see you next time!"

So that's that. I'd had the aircraft for maybe 30 mins, all I was doing was showcasing the Aircraft within FSX, no edited screenshots, no nice video effects - nothing.

Anyway, if you can't get over it - I'm sorry I wasted your time. I suggest for your own health and sanity you remain away from my stream  :P

Cheers!

I must admit I was screaming at my monitor a few times :P but that deserves more of a well done on your part :)
