July 1, 201312 yr Until PMDG aircraft work in P3D (don't know if they do or not) I won't be making the move towards P3D. I would like to however, as I have about had it with the already ancient piece of software that is FSX! If I do switch to P3D, it will surely be the next version. Or new product of P3D. PMDG aircraft do work in P3D, I am not saying that it is legal to use them but if you look through a lot of threads in the P3D forum you will see that people have gotten them to work just fine. I keep FSX around for solely this reason, otherwise I am on P3D. I commend PMDG for not coding the aircraft to not work in P3D, unlike another developer who is going mad currently doing this. I predict that we will see the PMDG license change as soon as P3D can come closer to an "entertainment" product. PMDG 737 NGX works in P3D, I've seen lots of videos on youtube of it. I am pretty sure at this point that I will move over to P3D with the rest of the FSX crew. Don't think I will stick with X-Plane as there are still a few things that I don't like about it and development is extremely slow. Plus I have invested in a lot of add-ons for FSX that will also work with P3D. Seems like a logical choice to me. Thanks for the info t_berg! No problem! Tom "I just wanna tell you both: good luck. We're all counting on you."

July 3, 201312 yr Author I have noticed that more and more sim companies (Aerosoft for one and Carenado come to mind) are saying P3D is going to be the major future flight sim. They say it is here to stay because LM is backing it and they see more revenue from simmers to be made plus they use it for their training sim. Regards Lamar Wright

I'm with-in reaching distance of purchasing myself a copy of it. Just have to research on how to get addons such as PMDG onto the sim...

Some of these same people have also stated that now MS is starting to questions, dispute LM "public" sales of P3D.
July 3, 201312 yr Some of these same people have also stated that now MS is starting to questions, dispute LM "public" sales of P3D. MS does not have a dog in this race, they don't care, so for someone to state they are asking questions, is pure speculation imho. They only time they would ever question is if they were going to reenter the flight sim entertainment business and they won't do that. I am on P3D and will not be going back. I do however hope the P3D 2.0 will install well over my current p3d, with all addons functional. Awaiting the imminent release of PMDGs 777. July 3, 201312 yr MS does not have a dog in this race, It does. Microsoft is still selling FSX Gerry Howard
July 3, 201312 yr Moderator It does. Microsoft is still selling FSX and as long as P3D does not market an entertainment product, there will be no issues. Individual sales do NOT imply an entertainment product. A boxed 3 DVD set might raise a few eyebrows though! Vic I am on P3D and will not be going back. I do however hope the P3D 2.0 will install well over my current p3d, with all addons functional. Awaiting the imminent release of PMDGs 777. I wouldn't hold any hope for that. Too big of a change - also consider that we all had to do clean installs in the Version 1.x series. Time to start setting up your reinstall procedures and getting registration numbers and activation keys ready. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
July 3, 201312 yr Great idea on recalling install procedures, keys are being arranged B) Jon Watson https://www.twitch.tv/jonfly https://www.youtube.com/jonflytv
July 3, 201312 yr . Individual sales do NOT imply an entertainment product. That's your opinion - it might not be Microsoft's Gerry Howard
July 3, 201312 yr Moderator That's your opinion - it might not be Microsoft's True - but it is not a valid reason not to purchase P3D. That's the nice thing about opinions, everyone has one. Sadly, a lot of people live in fear and negativity about what "might" happen. I prefer to enjoy life on the positive side and deal with negatives as they arise. I have NEVER worried about "what if's" and I'm too darn old to start now. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
July 3, 201312 yr Over the next few years, IMO the flight sim market will be split three ways into: 1. XPlane for the PC 2. XPlane for Android 3. P3D for the PC This will be a "good thing" because of increased choice and diversity but it will also be a "bad thing" because there will be no "industry standard" like there is presently with FSX.
July 3, 201312 yr ... but it will also be a "bad thing" because there will be no "industry standard" like there is presently with FSX. It isn't THIS good to have only one "industry standard", see what happened with the Windows "industry standard" - a lot of malware, viruses etc. Apart from that, P3D might be the next FSX, but the next FLIGHT simulator will be XP10. As long as P3D lacks a lot of essential features (the same ones like FSX) and development is so slow (nothing new since months and also no release date for P3D V2 yet), for me there's no chance to switch to P3D.
July 3, 201312 yr Current version of P3D is multi core and high memory aware which should fix your OOM, I have only 8gigs of ram on my gaming computer and I have never run into an OOM. The current version of FSX is also high memory aware. Both have the same 4 GB VAS limitation when run on a 64 bit version of Windows. This is a limitation of addressable, virtualized memory, not the actual physical memory available. Scott
