Finally! DC-8 For FSX!

Great news! I downloaded my copy but got to work. Hope this won't spoil my Valentine's Day, the wife might get mad. Also hopping that the rare fps fluctuations are gone forever.

Sounds good to me Scott! I'll re-download and check it out when I get the chance.

Very good to see you guys going back and updating/improving stuff based on customer feedback. I just pre-ordered the Canberra this morning, very much looking forward to it.

Thanks.

Canberra - you won't be disappointed I'm sure of that!

Looking forward to the -60 Series, which I flew in the RW back in the early '70s.

hover lover, but...
round motors rock and taildraggers rule!

Does someone have  Screen Shots of the "new" VC they can post? There was a discussion  in the JF forum in which Paul Golding offered his help to make a more attractive VC. Did he have a hand in this?

I got a refund shortly after purchase last Oct. but would love to revisit this AC if the deal breakers ( for me anyway) have been resolved.  They are:

1) large performance drop ( FPS drop with stuttering) when taxiing at any airport and anytime I bank in the sky. Drops to the low teens (on my system anyway). No other default or payware planes ( PMDG, Coolsky etc....) that I have see these issues under identical settings and circumstances.

2) FDE- able to land effortlessly, 260,000 lbs @ 130 knots, no flaps and nose trimmed all the way down to 15 on indicator. I configured the CS 707 the same and shot the same approach. It was a bear the whole way down the approach and stalled at 140 knots, short of the runway as it should. Not the kinds of FD I would expect from a DC-8.

3) EPR- Idles at 2.2 EPR. So I have no real EPR values. Really detracts from the experience, especially with steam planes. Just not a realistic experience with such parameters.

As noted, some were still having performance issues when banking and taxiing after SP1 was installed. For those who installed SP2, I would love to hear your feedback, comparing the original with SP2.

Thanks so much-

Brian Green

How do you find this product on their webpage? I doesn't have any links to the DC-8.

How does one navigate this website? Not too user friendly.

Here you go....................

OK, with little time to test, there's an improvement in the vc, indeed there are switches sounds, not bad. The autopilot looks different as well the airspeed indicator. You can opt for 2048 or 1024 textures but I don't see a point in using the lower ones. Sadly (for me) I don't see a fix in the rare fps fluctuations issue, perhaps using the lower res textures may improve that, don't know and I don't want to use the lower res textures. But there is hope in SP2. Didn't test the flight dynamics deeply yet.

Hi there - just type in DC-8 in the Search Box and it's listed near the top of the list. Alternatively you can navigate via add-ons>airliners...etc.  I think it's fairly straightforward.  Any problems let me know.

Hi Scott,

I tried your suggestion. It doesn't work with Chrome browser. No wonder I could not see it. It does work with IE11.

Is there a reason why your webpage does not display the top navigation bar on Google Chrome browser?

Thanks.

See attached image. Bottom pic is IE11.

No wonder you were struggling. :)

Ok, just checked this here and on two other PC's in my house all running Chrome and it works and presents perfectly ok.  Such a glaring issue would have been picked up by us for sure when the new site went live 18 or so months ago.

Having a think what else might be causing this.  Will get back to you...

I had this issue in Chrome yesterday as well. Search only revealed the add on livery pack but not the plane itself. Interestingly I did a google search and it took me right to the product page.

I reverted back to a Chrome browser basic Theme and now its working. Thanks

I had the same problem, but I was using IE10.

If I worked my down through the menu selections for Products, only the Addon Livery Pack came up.

Eventually, using other search options I found it.
