Probably best to wait. Good guys to do biz with though. The plane just fell a bit short for me as is. Looking forward to the updates.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to give an update for those waiting on the Service Packs for the DC-8 Series 10 to 40.

I'm aware that in replies in this forum and to customers who have enquired directly, that we'd indicated we'd be looking to have a SP available by now that would contain some of the major fixes and tweaks to the release version. The good news is that we're still on the case with this, the bad news is that it's now delayed somewhat. And the reason for that is because we had to divert attention and work onto an update to correct the external model. Turns out there was an error with window positions and indeed number of windows that made the model very much incorrect and this had to jump the queue and get fixed first.  This SP1 is very close to being finished and should be made available this week.

So apologies for any user repaints that have been created, but this update will mean they will require adjusting, but this adjustment has been done for the sake of correctness and accuracy.  Slightly better news in that SP1 will also include an interim FDE (Flight Dynamics) update. SP2 is now underway and will address a number of other reported issues and will also revisit the FDE if required. As and when I have an idea I'll jump back on here and let you know of a time estimate. In the meantime keep watching this week for news of SP1 and as soon as I know of its availability I'll post in here too.

So apologies for the slight hiccup here but I did want to keep you abreast of events and we simply had to prioritise the model inaccuracy first. How's the saying go...The best laid plans of mice & men.

Thanks for reading and I hope to be back soon with more news hopefully.

Thank you for the update. Even with the absence of SP1 I have been enjoying this aircraft.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

Hmmm...I am very tempted now :)

Appreciate this communication, Scott. Other developers could learn a little from your approach to keeping customers (and would-be customers) informed.

Thank you.

Great news, hope to see the jumping fps solved.

This aircraft has gotten very little attention.  Is it "too light" or a dud?  What's the verdict.  I'm guessing it's a pass.  I was very disappointed with the L-1011 which I thought was better than default but fell well short of the full sim experience I want.

Well at $8.00 ,I got the L1011 and it is certainly worth more than that . Many people who have the CS model have done a merge as the CS model has better externals, but as yet have not released the panel.

Don't know if JF are planning any updates for the Tristar yet

.

I think there is plenty of interest in this aircraft for those that are into these types of airliners.

For the newer generations this aircraft might not have a lot of interest since they have been out of service for decades, there are no computers to play with etc.

We generally hand fly these birds, enjoy the passing scenery, the sounds of the engines and watch the DME miles count down to the next VOR.

I for one am enjoying the hell out of it.

Did you know about the service pack we released back in the Summer for the L-1011. If not details are here: http://justflight.com/supportfaq/tristar-jetliner

Well done for getting it at that price in the sale. It may not be everyone's favourite but it's also received a lot of positive feedback too, even at the higher price-points.

Thanks Skully.

Many others like you enjoying it as it currently stands and we are still working on the SP's. I have to admit these are taking longer than we'd hoped and at this busy time of the year it's frustrating not to have had them available yet but we remain committed to them and as soon as I have more details I'll certainly let everyone know here.

Glad to hear you are working on service packs . Look forward to installing them down the road.

Good news (I hope) the first service pack is now available for your DC-8 Jetliner.

Full details can be found here: http://www.justflight.com/supportfaq/dc-8-jetliner#e256cac

Note it does require a full download and reinstall rather than it coming in a separate pack.

Content details:

DC-8 Jetliner Series -10 to -40 Service pack 1.

Items updated:

Revised window numbers and positions.

Revised detail textures to engines.

Polygon usage improved to help improve Frame Rates.

Revised livery textures.

Additional hydraulic rams and detail for -10 Ship One airbrakes.

Revised Virtual Cockpit – fix for locked left rudder.

Revised Pitot positions to top of nose.

Updated Flight Dynamics for all models.

NOTES: Apologies to those who have created repaint liveries for the release version. For the sake of accuracy we have had to adjust the numbers and positions of the windows in the model and textures. This will mean that your repaints as regards these area will be misaligned. There are no more changes are planned in this area.

Service Pack 2 is underway and will be released as soon as possible. This will address the issues concerning the Virtual Cockpit, gauge and operational side of things. One of the reasons we have issued Service Pack 1 in advance of Service Pack 2 to help alleviate the issues caused to livery re-painters due to the model window changes.

I hope this first Service Pack helps those who were having issues but as said previously I can't promise it will bring all your dreams come true but I'm sure you'll be able to see and experience the improvement.

Thank you

But.. but.. YOU are the DREAMMAKER!!

You have to!!

Thanks for the heads up! Still to test the update, really hoping for the fps fluctuations fix.
