777 first beta impressions

Does the autopilot of the 777 have IAN (or equivalent)? What about using the FMS to fly approaches?

Probably IAN is an option for 737ng and 787 only. But on 777 you can fly approach using VNAV or you can select V/S or FPA which is even more convenient.

Luke, the best way to use SB4 and FSX is to have FSX running in windowed mode and run SB4 as an external application (most people I know get better FPS running FSX in windowed mode anyway). You can also use pseudo_full_screen.zip (found in the AVSIM file library) to remove the top bar of FSX when using windowed mode so it looks exactly identical to normal full-screen.

I just disabled the FSX transponder and now the mouse is going in full screen - problem fixed! I'm in windowed during cruise, but takeoff/landing I keep full screen as I loose good 5FPS or so in windowed. FSInn looked awful when I just tried installing lol.

Yep, unfortunately I have yet to see software by Boeing engineers which allows similar features of IAN in the 777.

For the 777, and the use of Non-Precision approaches;

The recommended roll modes for the final approach are:

• for a RNAV or GPS approach use LNAV

• for a LOC-BC, VOR, or NDB approach use LNAV

• for a LOC, SDF, or LDA approach use LNAV or LOC

VNAV and FPA (Jeez I feel like I am talking about an Airbus NPA here  )are then used for vertical guidance.... The end result is the same as IAN, you just don't get fancy FMA's annunications etc.

Thanks for the info James!

Best regards,

Robin.

Tried all the tutorials, and tried the tool. It doesn't fix the fact it's an inherent design flaw with FSInn in the fact there's not a finite number of potential assignments of aircraft and livery.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I had the same problem when I had both IVAO MTL and WOAI aircraft installed. After re-installing FSInn, setting FSINN.cfg to read-only because it was being overwritten for some reason, and only using the registration tool on my IVAO MTL library, I now get correct matching. So, maybe the problem is you tried two different libraries of aircraft instead of just one.

I have problems with this as well.  However FSInn is the only client that will display aircraft other than VIP livery which is better than a mismatched livery.  I'm yet to find a simple thread explaining the install.  I'm too paranoid to try to fix it.

Yeah FSInn is kind of crazy. I have some headaches with it, but thankfully all is working now.

The saving grace feature is the ability to change individual multiplayer aircraft to the correct livery/aircraft.  Group flying is easier to follow VFR.

Yeah because that's what you want to spend the whole flight doing, correcting what other aircraft are being shown as

The P2P feature is excellent though.

Well yeah...but I only usually care about 2 or 3 people so it's not so bad, but yeah I hear ya!

Can't wait for that new client to finish up.  I forget what it's called.

Anyways FSInn is better in my humble opinion than SB.

Oh I wouldn't wait up for the new pilot client, I have been told (by someone fairly deep in VATSIM) the project has barely even started.

What is this client software you guys are talking about?

Jane, I am a little confused by the last set of photos and explanation, just a little clarification please. Does it mean that the 777 is not self sufficient? That there must be external power connected in order to get all power to all systems on the ground unless an engine is rotating? Could you or someone else explain this further, or point me in the right direction to learn more? Thanks again for passing the info on to us?

If you don't have the APU or an engine running then yes you need the GPU.
