August 28, 201312 yr A lot of child hood memories riding that old bird. I have the just flight version but I get my classic kicks flying the cool sky DC9 Vic green
August 28, 201312 yr If anyone hasn't got it already the A2A B377 is awesome retro If they gave this bird a decent face lift, I'd probably buy it. It is shallow of me, but as it is, their 377 looks rather cartoony to me and thus I just can't take it seriously; even if it is technically outstanding.
August 29, 201312 yr Ha I'll be buying all 3 I'm a sucker for PMDG stuff Me too! Chuck Rogers Intel Core i7-7700k 4.2 GHz, Nvidia GTX 1080Ti (11 Gb), 32 Gb Ram, Three paralleled 1 Gb Samsung Evo SSDs.

August 29, 201312 yr yes it´s funny how quiet it has been for this project at some point it sounded close and then silence but yes the 777 might have keept the given designers/ programmers bussy.. thats a comon thing that some people think it moves fast and then takes a dive to nothing.. but if we look at it as a work flow the model makers and programers cant work at the same plane at the same stuff so the guys have to have other work while waiting for another job to be done.. and often why you se from some companys they push 1 external model out after the other, to keep all bussy. some things just takes longer then other, and i dont have to say programing of cause is the time killer. It´s like any other workflow you find in any company more or less ofcause they have to do things in different orders to keep things roling.. Best Lars N. Best regards Lars N.
August 31, 201312 yr My kingdom for a piston twin such the old Martian 404 or CV 440 or 220 . Those were the good old days when A plane shook and smoked. Waiting patiently for this too! When I was a kid I lived near Shannon Airport in Ireland and I can still remember the tail end of the transatlantic propliner era. As most of these passed through EINN late at night going west (they mainly used celestial navigation over the ocean in those days which for obvious reasons was easier at night), I can still remember the amazing sight and sounds of the smoke and flames from the engines when the Connies and DC-6/7s started up (even more incredible at night) and the squeaking and creaking of the brakes as they taxied. On take off at night the main memory was of the long tongues of blue flames (must have been a little alarming as a passenger!) streaking back from the engines running at maximum power to drag the heavily laden aircraft into the air for the long Atlantic crossing and then the VERY flat climb out, followed a couple of minutes later by a slight change in engine tone as power and manifold pressure was reduced to protect the engines. Often on a still night, you could hear the sound of the engines for about 15 minutes after take off as these aircraft struggled out over the Atlantic. One sad night in 1960 I can remember lying in bed hearing the familiar sound of propliners taking off every so often, when that sound suddenly ended less than 2 minutes after it began - I looked out the window and could see an ominous yellowish glow in the night sky towards the northwest - I heard the following morning that an Alitalia DC-7C had crashed less than a minute after take-off. That unfortunate event however did not diminish my love of piston propliners and I can't wait to see one produced to PMDG standard. Bill
August 31, 201312 yr I gotta admit, PMDG or not, I can't get excited about the DC-6. I've never been excited about piston-engined airliners. However, for those fans out there, I'm certain it will be an add-on aircraft well worth the money! I would be really excited about PMDG developing the DC-8 or Boeing 707 as a "classic airliner".
August 31, 201312 yr How about the Super DC-3S (C-117D) that was a great airplane, Have a few real hours in her. Harry Nelson

That's fair enough Kevin but looking at your profile I can see that you were perhaps born a little too late to appreciate pistons! In saying that I too would love a PMDG quality DC-8 - it is the one classic airliner that has never really had much attention from developers in either FS9 or FSX. I use the Captain Sim 707 which isn't bad in terms of eye candy but leaves a little to be desired in terms of systems! Bill
August 31, 201312 yr Not being an expert in "systems" flight, I couldn't comment about that. However, I do think that the CS707 has really nice flight dynamics (apart from the landings being a bit too "soft" for such a heavy aircraft). I also think that the VC is a work of art. I agree and it actually is one of my favourite aircraft to fly - you can just 'jump in' and fly it if you wish, which I feel is a great positive point for any flightsim addon as there are times when I just want to fly and not go through long checklists, flick lots of switches and set up programs on CDUs etc! But I appreciate some people like that sort of thing and the CS products can fall a little short if you are that way inclined. I am also a huge fan of the CS 737-200, by the way, which, like the 707, I think is a great FSX addon! Bill
